  • This is quite an usual instrument. A 10 strings (5 double) originally made to be tuned CGDAE/D or DGDAD. It is an octave lower than the mandola, so like a cello, but adding a 5th course with a high E.
It has been personalised with specific features for a group who played with many instruments in different keys. This is why I fitted a sliding banjo capo to the lower string which allows to tune as low as open A or B, and with the capo you can go up 4 half tones. We dropped the double string for this course to get a clearer sound. Use good headphones or speakers to get all the nuances!
The body is Walnut and it has a European spruce top. Tuned CGDAD with phosphor bronze strings. Built in 2015. Its big body features a balanced sound with powerful bass, nice mid range and clear higher notes. Alex Sariol is having fun here playing some improvisation for you!
