    Classic Game Room reviews ALIEN for Atari 2600 from 20th Century Fox released in 1982, an awesome Pac-Man clone based in the 1979 movie. In Alien (the videogame) you play as Dallas or Ridley (I'm not sure to be honest... does it matter?) and collect Alien eggs to make a fabulous omelette. Dodge aliens, collect power pellets and score bonus points in the middle of the maze - Alien for Atari is better than the actual Pac-Man on Atari!

    I remember this game, I used to played them all the time, and it was a "Pac-Man" type game. "Alien" was a carbon copy of "Pac-Man", and it was an Atari VCS/2600 game from 20th Century Fox, and it was based off the movie. Fox made great games like "Worm War 1", "Turmoil", "Spacemaster X7", "Porky's" and many more great games that Fox published it.

    So in this game, you play as Ripley who is running around the map stealing eggs from aliens and even crossing the street full of aliens. I like the idea here. Pac-Man and Frogger in a 1982 game based on the 1979 movie.

    The ONLY "Alien" video game that ever successfully captured the feeling of the movie and did it RIGHT is a game that absolutely no one has ever heard of. It's "Alien" for the Commodore 64. It's basically a real time strategy board game. the map is three levels of the Nostromo and it also includes the hidden ventilation shafts that you can open grates from the various rooms and enter into. All the characters from the movie are on the ship and you command all of them. In the beginning of the game, one of them is randomly killed by the Alien. What follows is a strategy game where you have to in real time, order the crew members around the ship to get weapons and items to fight the alien while the creature is going around the rooms, ventilation shafts, etc.. damaging the ship. The crew members also have psych levels so if their fear gets too high, they can panic and disobey orders. This can be an issue if they encounter the bodies of their crew members in a dark ventilation shaft and you're trying to get them away from the alien and they're having a complete panic attack. All of this is compounded by the problem that one of the crew members each time you play is randomly an android who will betray the crew and will turn on the crew. If things get hopeless, you can even grab the cat in the cat carrier, set the ship for self destruct and escape in the escape ship, but the escape ship will only handle three crew members. This game is an amazing real time strategy game and is probably one of the first real time strategy games. I've seen LOTS of people talk about "Alien" video games and I've never seen anyone cover this gem when it's the only one that ever actually accurately duplicated the original "Alien" movie and did it the right way.

      What about the DLC for Alien Isloation, it's literally the ending of the original movie.

    • @BlackburnBigdragon
      @BlackburnBigdragon Před 8 lety

      Yeah, but "Alien" on the C64 acurately simulated the original "Alien" movie with the original characters, the original ship. Super Metroid had nothing to do with that movie other than being influenced by it and being a platforming game that threw a bunch of enemies at you. The C64 game was just like the movie. An unfortunate crew, trapped on board a spacecraft with a single alien creature that was hunting them down one by one, that was also damaging the ship, leaving them no choice but to figure out a way to find it and figure a way to kill it. Also, the thing has acid blood. They modeled that in the game too so if you have a crew member attack it with a weapon that cuts it and acid sprays out, it can damage not only the crew member but it can eat through the hull of the ship and destroy it.

      +BlackburnBigdragon if you want the closest experience to the movie why not just watch the movie

    • @BlackburnBigdragon
      @BlackburnBigdragon Před 8 lety

      You're missing my point. If you make a video game of a movie, don't you think it should be like the movie? This game was the most like the movie out of all the video games that came out at the time. Instead of making "Pac Man" and calling it "Alien" or making a platformer throwing a bunch of random monsters at you which honestly isn't anything like the movie, this game was exactly like the movie. It covered every detail. This game is a gem and by far the best "Alien" franchise game I've ever played.
