Archery and rings, In the "Asian draw" [very broad term] it actually uses a thumb ring to hold the string. The classic longbow draw was two fingers and a thumb with a leather tab or glove, to protect the hand so rings wouldn't obviously get in the way.

That's interesting. However, with wearing a leather glove, wouldn't the rings worn on the index finger also get in the way?
