This era of alternative rock is the soundtrack to my youth, I grew up in a small copper town in az. Every memory I have between 10 and 18 years of age could be the title to any of these albums.
Yesss! It has been awhile since I've played with a capo, some Travis, coldplay, oasis, onerepublic songs... and of course this masterpiece from Tonic. Thank you for this turorial. Best of the best Marty
Love this Marty! Thanks again for putting together the BEST guitar lessons around! I look forward to practicing every day because you just have a knack for making the journey so enjoyable. I’m playing for 2 years and am 63 years old… guess it’s never too late! Please keep adding great acoustic songs like this. Hope you get around to Colin Hay some day - Waiting for My Real Life to Begin would be awesome!!
There was an album called “A Casual Affair” and Tonic kind of remixed this song with an acoustic opening that sounds so sweet. It would be great to see that. It’s an awesome 1:18 of listening.
Marty bro! I just started playing the guitar on the night of Christmas bro, first video I ever watched of a guitar lesson was yours, started from lesson 1 and went all the way through, your teachings skills make it so easy to learn, now I watch your videos everyday to get some knowledge! I learned how to play 9 songs from you so far, I love how you zoom in on your fingers so we know which strings to have fingers on and how you give tips while you’re teaching, from the strum patterns to cracking jokes while we’re learning. Bro you’re the best teacher I’ve found on CZcams and I love you for that man, now I can play songs for my girl and play at bonfires and party’s and all. Just wanted to say thanks man!!! Much love and respect!!!!!
Marty! My (new) guitar sensei bought me some light strings for my guitar, and now, I can play all the chords! (what a pain the old strings were; Fender jerks.) His roommate, also a great guitarist, learned a LOT from.. YOU! So did another guitarist I sometimes play with. That's only about 4 guitarists I've talked to, in Austin, since learning to play. And half learned from you. That's pretty crazy!
Hey Marty, I'm in year 12 and I want to play "Like an animal by Alfie Templeman" for my HSC, and there really are no tutorials for that song. I was really hoping if you could do a tutorial on it for me. Please :)
Martayyyyyy! My man! The greatest music teacher to bless the interwebz.... Will you please teach Mainstreet by Bob Seger... and also.. Postcards from Hell by The Wood Brothers. Random requests, I know.. Thanks in advance :D
Hey mate, any chance you could please do a lesson for Peter Greens Oh well part 2?! If so would be epic, your lessons are always spot on easy to comprehend, even for novices like me 👍🏻
Marty i know that you have a video on Sunday Bloody Sunday, but can you please teach the solo to. The way the Edge plays it on live aid. There aren’t any teachers wo teach it the right way. Im sure you can pull it of!!!
A lot of great songs recently, can you do a lesson for Mudhoney’s Don’t Fade IV. I think it will be a awesome addition to any guitar players repertoire. Thanks
Ok.. You play it with different fingering.. Hart plays it with some bar chords, but guess what.. I like yours better.. sounds more.. "soulful" :).. awesome! thanks marty! :) keep it up.
Could you do a circle of fifths video. I get confused when for example. Your in the key of C but your tonic note Dm how do you label the order of the other chords within that key now?
vi - I - V - IV chord progression in the key of C#/Db for the main line, since the capo is on the 1st fret. Do you mean tonic note Db? Because Dm is a chord not a note. C#/Db are the same note. Also when you use a capo just think of the chords as if they are open chords, which is why Marty says C or Am since they use the same finger shapes. In reality they are transposed a half-step so Cmaj is C#maj and Am is A#minor.
Thanks for watching and supporting MartyMusic, I also have some FREE courses at my site www.MartyMusic.com
Could you please do “No good place to cry” by Randy Houser
