Have the winch line come in the center and attach directly to the finger brake. Then you can lift it and move the shop press center channel, lower the finger brake to the ground, and put the channel back in. I saw it do this way on another channel with a press that has a press cylinder that can move side to side.

Frank, could you just drill a couple holes in the handles of the beams instead of getting carabiners? Also are there any kind of stops in the pins under your beams, maybe drill a couple holes in them and put some hair pins in if they don’t to keep them from vibrating out.
Thanks for sharing, see you next week.

Hi Frank, I replaced my hyd Jack with an air/hyd several years ago. So far I’ve not used it, I still pump the handle because it’s easy. Should have saved the money

What role do those springs play in the normal operation of the press ? Wouldn’t want to be near that thing if they let go.

I used to tell all the owners of those presses that those springs need safety cables inside, they all ignored me, didn't even appreciate my suggestion, so I don't bother anymore.

    • @paulravitsky2898

@@ruben_balea That's an excellent idea! They are under a large amount of tension when the cylinder is extended. I'm gonna incorporate both "upgrades" on my Northern Tool press.

Thoses bronze hooks you have on the cables is as dangerous as a cocked pistol. To break loose have seen dogs break them.
