In this episode, we uncover not just one, but TWO rare hammered coins dating back centuries, along with fascinating artefacts. Watch as history comes to life before our eyes, with each dig unveiling a piece of the past. Who knows what other surprises the ground holds?
I love metal detecting, it's the hobby that just keeps on giving. I love sharing my finds & love competing with my Dad, the cameraman. Gordon introduced us to this hobby & the three of us enjoyed some great times with light hearted banter but always delighted for each other’s successes. We sadly lost Gordon in June 2022 & he leaves a huge hole in our detecting adventures BUT we continue, hoping he is watching over us. I’m now using his trusty digging tool hoping it brings me some luck!

Well done Paddy and Andy. Great father’s day. Congrats on the hammereds. Brilliant. The big deep brass thing you found Paddy was a tarret ring or reins guide off a horse. Great finds fellas. Take care 🦘🦘😁👍

Your dad had a pretty good day there mate. That land looks absolutely prime, I'd of thought it be knee deep. Them sheep have kept it nice n short. Bet theres all sorts on there. Your spindle whorl item is actually a rabbit net weight. Good work

If this helps, gilded means an object is coated with a thin layer of gold. The term for an object covered in silver is plated. Nice video as always, Paddy.

The one you had that was deep was an object for horse carriage (the reins go through this) We find many of them.

Cool finds for sure! I hate to burst your bubble, but the American 1 cent isn't any older than the 1980's. It's a mostly zinc coin that decays really bad. That's why you might have thought it older.

Hahaha, I did think it might have been a little bit more modern 😂. Thanks for confirming 😁

Always love your enthusiasm. However, this video was “Daddy Detects”. The Camer@man had his Father’s Day for sure. The American one cent was a newer coin perhaps 1990- in 1982 copper was replaced with a zinc alloy, thus we call them Zincolns. On to the next one…thanks for sharing.

Another brilliant day out.. I wonder how you estimate the date of your snake buckles? The info I have found is confusing :) Keep up the good work Paddy!

Thanks mate, just searched up the dates for snake buckles and there’s a few different websites which explain really well the differences between the old and slightly newer ones.
