@@moniqueengleman873 Couldn't she have gone to her bank to request the cancelled checks? I think the issue with the evidence presented is that there is no telling when those check were actually written, whereas the bank records would show them being processed.

@@moniqueengleman873 No, she's not off. I can write an abundance of checks and rip them off - I can then present the carbon copy despite the checks never being cashed. If you have a bank that is with the times, you can either use their online platform to retrieve any checks that were cashed or go into a branch and ask for the proof it was cashed.

When I used a bank, I got all my cancelled checks but haven't received a cancelled check since I switched to a credit union 20 years ago. I don't agree with the defendant at all but I do get that her financial institution doesn't send her cancelled checks.

I was in such an eerily similar situation, with a slight twist. My ex-girlfriend wanted to stay in the house we were renting, despite me calling off the relationship and her having an abundance of family members in the area. I was tight on funds, found a house that was only $1100 a month and nearby my job. I think she expected me to change my mind, then she hears from a cousin that I began dating and she begins withholding rent. It was four months of this before I called the homeowner, explained the predicament and he said, 'don't send me a check this month...I'll then give you a 60-day notice for eviction.' She moved out two days later...Brian, you're a real one!

Watching shows like this makes me glad I keep all my documents for everything. I have binder full of receipts, invoices, medical records, etc. Plus so much is online there is no way you can't get documentation of payments.

That's usually stated when they bring in credit card bills. Utility bills are straight forward. Either they are split 50/50, or how many ways per roommates, or split like mentioned in this case.

Nobody even writes checks any more! Back when I was writing checks, my bank didn't give us canceled checks any more.
That's because they are available online nowadays. I fact, they were available online when she was writing that foolishness on what looked like withdrawal/deposit slips for a savings account.
He clearly wanted to be with her and that was his way of trying to get her to stay. She 100% was using that to her advantage too.
