He is a very good mechanic and panel beater, however I am worried about his start and stop system and removing the rigid top without reinforcing it below will actually make the car buckle under its own weight. I think that he needs to stabilize the car with anti-roll bars underneath to give that rigidity

You are right. Hopefully he is just using this Corolla as just a toy and not a car he intends to use for real, because it is no longer safe to drive in its current state.
He needs to reinforce the chassis and also either install a roll cage (to avoid the heads of passengers getting crushed in a rollover accident), or still bars behind the head rests of the back seat to protect heads in a rollover accident.
He also chopped off the side pillars of the car, which are designed to reinforce a car against getting folded in half when getting t-boned (t-boned means getting hit on the side of the car). So he has to install solid steel beams inside the door the run from front to back so that the doors are reinforced against getting t-bone.
The windscreen pillars are also designed to be held up by the roof and side pillars during a rollover accident. In its current state, the windscreen pillars will just collapse during a rollover accident and the heads of the occupants will get crushed. He will need to weld a steel beam on each side that starts from the top of the windscreen pillar and attaches to the floor board of the car.
Like I said, hopefully it is just a toy car and not a car that he is going to actually use on the road because in its current state, it is a deathtrap.
It all starts with a dream, if he continues with his vision he myt be a game changer, but for now lol 😂

Short answer it will bend over time, the roof and b pillars are part of the structural integrity of the car. It will be more dangerous in an accident.

No no problems at all. The same way convertibles are legal. The car is still a project & we found him busy installing a motor for his soft top roof. When we shot it wasnt closing up but now it does. We will bring a part 2
