Hi Lord Baldermort 🙏 I just wanted to let you know that I listened to your fall of Cadia video all four hours of it. And it was and is Amazing 👏 insane quality, tense, gripping, dramatically potent and all together just incredible. Thank you for your time effort and love that you have put into all you do. Please keep up the great work. All the best Markus.
A Gentle listener.
Great choice. I really like this Chapter.
@@markuslow6646 I do a lot of commuting and now up to the 2nd time of listening, its just as good 2nd time round
Sliver Skulls could be interesting, but really anything by you would be great Sir Baldermort
I am Alpha......
Mistrusting of the government?? Sounds like my kind of chapter!
Thanks as always Baldemort!!
With the lore around this chapter and the green helmets I would hazard a guess that they were loosely based on American green berets.
I love how humble and self effacing you are… apologizing for artwork or your ability as if it’s an issue at all. Take my word at least, we love ya and would watch a black screen if it had you lore casting. Thanks as always!
🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻
I have been listening to Lord Baldermort for almost two years and as a Lord of Lore, he is unrivaled
Get this man a successor chapter immediately!
The bold and the bald
@@baldermort maybe for April 1st do the Angry Marines... just saying
I really liked their re-imagining in the Spears of the Emperor novel as a Green Beret style force that drops-in with small numbers with primary missions of training and growing a new force.
red talons would be interesting. Surprisingly little lore on them despite being a second founding chapter
What an interesting successor chapter, I thought they’d be pretty lame given their name but they sound like they would be really helpful as a supplement to the Fists or Ultramarines when planning out a campaign
The Mentors.
Smart guys who farm their smarts out to other Chapters. Plus have tech better than anybody else.
Like, better better.
Excellent work, as always.
Even better tech than the _Iron Hands?_ 😳
I'll bet they get the good stuff because of their ties to the Inquisition.
Alpha legion for the loyalists?
@@V.B.Squire nah, I don't think their MO's overlap that much.
Again, I suggest the Tome Keepers. There’s even written fiction and quotes along with a full white dwarf article series on them. They are my third army of three and lovely 😊 in so many ways. Science!!
Yes, I'd love to see a vid on them as well.
PLEASE DO THE TOME KEEPERS
I am currently building my Crusade force and need some inspiration for some minor conversations.
I listened to your Outrider Bike Video when I was building my Outriders. They look amazing. Thank you
I love the Mentors they are just so interesting especially the fact they only deployed small numbers of marines at a time it’s one of the inspiration around my custom chapter only send out 5 man teams.
Thank you for shining a light on this small chapter good sir
Spring has finally made it to Texas and uncle Balders has a new video! Today is off to a great start!
It's so nice out in San Antonio right now
Dallas hasn't felt this warm is such a long time!
It's 20 degrees Fahrenheit here... I really could go for some spring...
We don't even get Spring, really can't have shit in Detroit...
I get dark angels vibes from the Mentors.
Strategic genius, knowledgeable in many fields of war, secretive nature
It seems to fit for me.
They feel like ultra ultra marines to me.
👍 but I prefer the "Dirtier" side of Spec-Ops & enjoy the Raven Guard & the Raptors (pre- primaries). Best regards.
Once again servo skull, the Angels of Absolution. Great lore as always sir!
Great video I remember seeing this marine having his armour fitted by an adept when I was about 10 years old... About 30 years ago! You have done them justice as ever! How about the death spectres they have a very curious lore which I think would be interesting for the viewers. Thank you again for your contribution to this amazing setting.
Oh blessings from the omnissiah. To hear the velvet tongue dropping those idioms, phrases, cliches.
M'lord Baldermort, thank you for sharing your time with us.
Love the mystery around this chapter. Thanks, Baldy!
Thank you for covering these guys! Easily in my top ten.
I don’t need images. You’re delivery and vocal qualities are more than entertaining enough. Most often I just put your work on and set the phone down to listen. My mind makes the associated images.
Tome keepers would be a good idea. Would love your take on this new chapter
I was attracted to try this video, as basically I have been painting Mentors in Epic scale, and some Space Hulk Terminators, for about 15 years now. Inspired by the original White Dwarf article!
They went and ret-conned my favourite (and 1st!) Chapter didn't they. Back in the 80's the Mentors were the 1st Chapter I ever read about, in the 1st White Dwarf I every bought. They haven't killed them off at least and there's a tiny germ of the original background still 😁
Neat! Although it is surprising that such a comparitively new chapter is so highly regarded by the Imperium's higher ups.
Have you ever made your own successor chapter baldemort?
#1 Be interested in hearing your lore for your custom!
#2 howling griffons
#3 sons of Medusa
#4 dark krakens
The Skull Takers are also an interesting chapter to cover when they also compare to the Ultramarines to show how different Chapters even the same geneseed can be.
The mortifactors are another awesome chapter, I believe they're also have the big blue geneseed as well. They're a completely loyal chapter that engages in ritualistic cannibalism before a battle. They're also guerilla warfare experts who specialize in jungle warfare..
Just finished Spear of the Emperor so this is perfect! Keep up the great work my liege.
I'd love to see something on the Death Spectres or Exorcists
I second an entry on the Exorcists.
It is really nice to have another video of yours to watch. I wish I could sit down to watch your Cadia video in one sitting. These are great to watch over lunch break, makes me wish I was painting my marines whenever I watch one.
I really like the successor chapters so I'm really happy you're doing this series
This is one of my biggest favourites so far!
You ignite my pasion for this lore with each entry ❤️
Thank You Master ❣️
These guys would get along really well with the raptors chapter.
I suggest Knigts of Blood, chapter which is too brutal even for the Flesh Tearers...
and other interesting chapters to look at are Mortifactors, Iron Snakes, Libators, Obsidian Glaives, Executioners...
I'm voting for the Black Consuls just cuz I'm partial. Who ever gets next will get a great entry from our favorite loremaster!
They sound like they're meant to be as organised as the Ultramarines, as tech-savvy as the Iron Hands, as Spec-Ops as the Raven Guard and as sneak-sneaky as the Alpha Legion?
A powerful combination indeed.
Yet again; I will suggest The Novamarines chapter. They're a pretty interesting Ultramarines successor who are extremely anti-xeno; even for Astartes and have a history dating back to the second founding.
Thank you for the lore Brother Baldermort!
Another great video Uncle Baldermort. I would echo another suggestion given in the comments; Tome Keepers. They are a very interesting chapter. The Silver Skulls, Sons of Sparta and Astral Bears, Auric Patricians, Black Guard and Black Wings.
I really like this chapter, If I did paint my Dark Angels full green I would have went with the Mentors!
Been loving you covering the new chapters of marines as cool and well thought out the founding chapters are their successor chapters are just as if not more interesting
The Mentors actually sound very cool. I hope you get to do the Celestial Lions.
I'd love to see one on the sons of medusa. Need some Iron hands love
The Mentors are one of my favorite space marine chapters. I would love to see more lore of them from GW in the future.
Nice, a chapter I've never heard of.
This will be interesting
That was cool, I like the subtle suggestion in the lore that the Mentors may have been the testing chapter for the Primaris space marines, even before Gullimans return, with their alledged fielding of space marines 'of unusual size, strength and fortitude' along with having close ties to the Mechanicus for their equipment.
Bullshit
I think I found my new favorite chapter.
Thanks Baldermort!
Mentors!!!!!!!!!YESSSSSSSSSS!!!!! Interesting new take on the old chapter. Im glad they kept the theme of being parcelled out in small units to study, learn and teach. Not sure how you can have a Very secretive organization which works very well with others and all the time (at least without the Inquisition being very Jealous) but such is the delicious paradox of 40k
Can we start a petition to get Baldy a narration and voiceover job for Darktide and it's lore? At least an NPC or something 😁
Hell yeah! If this ever gets made I'd sign that in a heartbeat
Hell yeah where do I sign?
Was there a petition ever made?
An awesome video! I’ve never heard of the mentors before but they are much like the Raptor space marine chapters the chapter I requested with my last comment. I truly enjoy your videos. Thank you truly.
We of the Emperor's Spears do not recognize these 'false scorpions' as battle brothers. They dishonor our dead by wearing the colors of our brothers of the Sentinels of the Veil!!
Jk just having a bit of fun. Another great video as always!
I love all of these lore breakdowns
That was a really interesting chapter, thanks for talking about them. I'd like to drop another request for Sons of the Phoenix, something about that name leaves me real suspicious 🤔
When I first got into Warhammer near the end of seventh edition, I spent quite some time going through the art of all the space Marines and trying to decide what color scheme I wanted. I considered the silver skulls for a while, but I ended up painting my first ever chapter as Mentors.
It’s a project I’ll have to revisit, because I think they’d make an especially appropriate demo army for those just getting into the hobby 😁
Amazing work as always!
Cheers, Baldermort, another good one! Your Fall of Cadia vid the other day was fantastic and got me well through the week. Your intense "Cadia STANDS" puts the faith of the Emperor in your listeners. Keep up the great work ;)
The Mentors sound pretty cool albeit unusual. An entire chapter of what are basically studied drill seargents with an engineering degree :D
My suggestion for next chapter is “The Emperor’s Spears” chapter and/OR Celestial Lions chapter. Since you have covered the mentors in this video, I believe the spears would make a great and logical next step. As there is an entire novel written Aaron Dembski Bowden (“Spear of The Emperor”, which is my all time favourite 40k story personally.) about this ultramarines successor and that it has heavy ties to the mentors, star scorpions, black templars and other minor successor chapters scattered throughout the 40k universe.
P.s. The novel about then even has Mentors marine as a core cast member.
This faithful listener loves all of your entries; you sure are a lore master and your talents and passion are greatly appreciated thank you good and kind sir everything!
Still waiting for Ringtones! 🤣🤣
Thanks for another great video!
If we’re looking for striking colours I’ve always thought the soul drinkers looked unique
Relictors have some cool history.
Thanks for the great content! It has reignited my interest in the 40K Universe. I might even dust off my old models.
Would love your take on what happened to Leman Russ.
Might be asking a lot but I'd love to hear your take on the son's of the phoenix. Not much much lore on them yet but they have a pretty solid foundation starting
Mentors are the SF of space marines. Trains locals and serve as force multiplier. If there were more chapters like this, imperial guard would be much more effective and imperium command would be much more competent.
fantastic, bit of lore regarding a chapter I recall as only having a small entry in Rouge Trader... something along the lines of " the guys who get to field test new equipment // war gear?" unless I'm mistaken
They did have that. But it’s such old lore that it leads into them testing ‘new equipment’ which is counter to lore fot over 2 decades now. So I avoided that. :(. No point in muddying the waters.
My favorite Successor Chapter. Thank you so very much for this video. I have always liked this Chapter from the earliest lore I saw of them. I don't recall if I saw them in the Rogue Trader rulebook, the Red Compilation book, or if it was in an ancient White Dwarf many years ago.
I am not sure why the color scheme appeals but I like the white and green. The lore of the Chapter was what I really enjoyed, though. For color schemes, I do think the Novamarines quartered pattern looks nicer but the simple Mentor Legion white and green is clean and simple, a classic look.
I can't hear or read their name without thinking of the band the Mentors. "She cranked up the tunes, it was the Mentors!" The Meatmen - Ball Peen Baby. One day I'll get around to making an El Duce chapter master model, I've done a few in their color scheme already to play with it.
always love your stuff
Battle Brother Baldermort, another excellent installment. Friendly reminder for a Soul Drinker vid :)
Personal head cannon: the mentors 1st company is actually just secret Custodians defying the edict of restraint and using an astartes chapter as cover.
Closely related to the renegade warband known as The Dementors from the Daemon World Azkaban.
Baldy, always be happy,we all love you
I really want a story of these guys fighting next to the Wolves.
For future: Silver Skulls, loyal sons of Iron!
This Vid: Another excellent short snack. Love your work and your passion.
In the grim darkness of the far future there is no time for peace there is only time for this mans amazing voice
Ok I know it’s a fan made chapter but could you please do the Angry marines? Hearing you read their profanity fueled excerpts would be glorious!
I love the Mentors, Spearment and Pepperment are my favorite flavours hehehe
the most comprehensive video on the Mentors chapter i have seen! thank you Baldermort!
Great video as always. Well thought out, well structured, and impeccably delivered. Found out about Balde's videos through the Distractable podcast, and I'm thrilled to have so many savory videos like this one to chew through.
Will get round to this for bedtime thanks again mate 👍🏼
It could be paranoia but I see many paralels between the Alpha Legion and Mentors. All that secrecy, adaptability and shifting command. Not to mention the loss of the Star Scorpions before them.
Thanks for the video on these guys, knew there was more to them than that stand out colour scheme I remember from my Dad's old Rogue Trader.
Dear Lord Baldermort, I have been rereading Codex and books these past few months and listening to yours and others channels. My 12 year old son is starting up his first army and he is taking in all the lore to help him pick which faction will be his first. As him and I sit around and he asks me questions and I try to remember or we both go and hunt for his answers, we have grown closer, kids and parents relationships today is totally different that the relationships we had with our parents back in the 70's to say the least. My father spend a Friday night playing a tabletop war game with me with expensive models, I don't think it would have happened. Today the prices of WK40K models are pocket breaking but with 3D stuff, well let's say, his first army will not be tournament legal😏
Back to my question/request.....
He was asking/searching for the biggest Space Marine ever. The first answer that came to my mind was Vulkan Primarch of the Salamanders but that Tyberos of the Carcharodons popped into my head because I remember and I hope I remember correctly that he is so big and tall that his Terminator suit was made with parts of a Dreadnought shell. Could you please when you have time do a video of the largest Space Marines, if you have the time.
Love these guys! Only the Raptors and Raven Guard can match them in guerilla
Warfare.
And the Alpha Legion of course
The Distractable Podcast sent me here. You are awesome!
Happy you talked about them today my friend
Baldemort, I love your videos. Especially your video about the chaos sorceror who had a dreadnought sarcophagus as his bed. And your video on the Tyranid maleceptor made me buy a maleceptor. I have written a couple of (very)short stories about 40k in the past. Would you like them? They would sound amazing with your narration.
Wait... so they don't trust the rest of the Imperium, but do their best work when they're attached to other Imperial Units?
This may be the fatigue from my weekend, but Rebel is confused
They work with most. But trust none. They’ll help you out, but will never take you to their crib. Lol.
Keep up the great work! Just absulut amazing!
END QUOTE.
Love that part.
I just decided to do this chapter thanks for the Lore
It's been a long time since I've tuned in, but MAN even after my falling out with the series, just listening to your narration again is making me feel so creatively empowered again! Much love dude, keep killing it!
I'm not going to lie I like these "bite sized" videos. Just the right size to relax too.
I'd like to see the Black Dragons :) These chapter videos have been amazing!
No worries about a lack of art! These will make an awesome playlist soon enough! \o/
Would like to see silver skulls or mortifactors next
I'd be interested in seeing one on the Black Guard, Knights of the Raven or Consecrators
I freaking love the mentor chapter , ever since I saw those white and green colors .
I’d personally like to see videos on the iron snakes or a video on how the space wolves. Use the fenriasian wolves in battle. Love your videos keep up the good work!
Brother balders strikes again
Love all your work lately sir. Can you do a video on the Primarchs after the Heresy?
This is interesting thank you baldermort
Unfortunately so many of the more obscure Chapters have so little information that's readily available it seems unreasonable to ask about them (I'm thinking of Chapters such as The Angels of Vigilance or The Black Talons). This was a genuinely enjoyable video, so thank you.
I’m thinking of painting a squad of these guys now
Hello Balders! How about the Disciples of Caliban? I love that color scheme.
Revilers! Somebody needs to keep an eye on the Alpha Legion.
