Mercedes GL (X164), ML (W164) Webasto sunroof twisting while opening

- If your sunroof is operational, but one side is getting caught and twisting the sunroof. Sunroof assembly is shown. Very poor quality from Webasto. Metal brackets are molded over with plastic for sliding surfaces contact. Different rate of heat expansion and cooling is causing plastic to crack and brake off at which point metal on metal contact gets brackets stuck and sunroof jamming on one or both sides.
You’ve got to love your sunroof to go through that.. I keep my GL’s closed 😊

Today our 2007 ml350's sunroof stopped and was acting stuck. Looked in the rail and found a 1" square black plastic tab broken off of something. Thank you for your video, so much for any easy fix...

This is very helpful. I already started to think about removing the headliner to get the sunroof out to figure out the fault (exactly the same thing happens - sunroof gets twisted). Now I know, what to do and with much less effort :D.

URGENT! the front wind-deviator remain up just on the right part and cause the non-closure of the sunroof, if I totally remove the wind-deviator would star working again? or there is any sensor or something else which can make things worse?

So you remove the glass panel without removing the liner?

If I get this thing closed I'm disconnecting the switch.

Is there a video how to disassemble the sun roof?
Looking for the same thing. As Charles Hendricks states above, I also found a 1" piece of plastic in my well and now the unit will not close properly.
@@wayaboveme Me 2, some piece of plastic is blocking my sunshade, it only opens together with the sun roof
not much help you dident show how to replace the unit
