  • This transfer case is out of a 2005 Toyota Sienna, it ran out of grease and seized up, because it was seized, they were able to drive the car to my shop. Normally without the drive shaft installed, the car will not move or have park, remember to have the level checked when the car is in for service. Sorry forgot to put a title on the video, been crazy at the shop, going in 7 days. Enjoy and thanks for watching

    Excellent video, could you tell me the proper name for the seal that goes on the end the extension housing where the driveshafts connects to the transfer case. 6:57 in the video. Can that be changed without removing the case from the car? I have a slow drip coming out that seal or is it leaking from another seal?

    To the end of the video, you were able to replace all the seals on the transfer case?
    I want to do this for my transfer case on 2004 Toyota Rav4 Automatic. Car shifts fine but I have fluid leak that look like a mixture of Automatic transmission fluid and transfer case.

  • @juliustay2541

    Would you recommend that when doing transmission seal replacement at the junction between the transmission and transfer case, we replace all of the seals of the transfer case too because of the task of taking out the transfer case

    So transfer case is really a misnomer. It’s simply a gearbox to drive the rear prop shaft.
    Is there a differential in the transmission for the rear axle? Or is clutch controlled?

    • @GaryFerraro
      @GaryFerraro  Před rokem +1

      yes there is a diff inside the trans, the transfer case splines into the diff

      @@GaryFerraro thanks for responding to this old video. I have a 13 RXD which drives and feels like a differential to the rear. Much smoother than the Ford Escape which uses a clutch pack to drive the rear.

    I have an oil leak between the transfer case and the transmission of 2004 Toyota Rav4. The fluid looks like it's from the transmission.

  • @juliustay2541
    @juliustay2541 Před 5 měsíci

    Is it possible for oil from this transfer case to mix up with the automatic transmission fluid and vice versa? What could account for this?

    • @GaryFerraro
      @GaryFerraro  Před 5 měsíci +1

      I would say yes, i see that on other vehicles, usually due to a bad seal
