    I really like your video, and I agree the Autel outperformed the DJI. My only issue is with Autel as a company. As of now, they are a one trick pony company. I still have the Autel XSP and they completely quit supporting, you can't even get aftermarket batteries for it. I would be ok with spending the money for a EVO 2 but what happens 3 to 4 years from now when I can't even get a battery for it? I got an expensive brick on my hands. Meanwhile with DJI you can still buy batteries, aftermarket for older drones like the Phantom 3. People need to really consider that when they purchase a drone.

    • @ozstrayapanoramas8610
      @ozstrayapanoramas8610 Před 3 lety +2

      My understanding is the service life for the Evo 1 & XSP have been expired by Autel.
      A 2 to 5 years service life expiry by manufacturers is common place for consumer electronics worldwide..
      For economy of scale reasons, the more units sold by the manufacturer generally equates to a longer service life.
      The Evo 1 was released almost 3 years ago, the XSP 5 years ago.
      I would assume Autel finds it totally uneconomical to continue parts & service for the Evo 1 & XSP due to the very low unit numbers sold.
      Whereas DJI has enormous unit numbers sold so it is still economical to support some of the older models.
      On this point I think you should give this issue a rest.
      This is not unusual, this is a common issue with consumer electronics.

    • @markscada
      @markscada Před 3 lety +1

      I agree. I have a Autel X-Star Premium and Autel dropped support for the batteries on this one as well, so I have an expensive brick on my hands. It seems like Autel's master plan to get you to upgrade. They are saying the technology in the batteries is causing this issue, but the EVO still has lithium polymer batteries just like my X-Star so what is the deal? The other issue is they will not do a trade-up program if you own an Autel, just if you own another manufacturers drone. Does that seem odd to anyone?

    • @ozstrayapanoramas8610

      With the rule changes coming from the FAA, they really do not want or expect you to be flying the same drone 2 years down the road. Next year, all drones will have to emit a signal that shows the gps location of the operator. It will also have to be integrated into the system so no signal no launch. I don't know if any of these size and weight drones will be able to be refitted to accomplish this feat. So more than likely, they will be outlawed, or used for spare parts. You can thank the you tube heros for that. As they have flown drones over restricted air space, over infrastructure, into tornados, over forest fires, and into flight paths of other air craft. As well as into emergency air craft. It just takes a few to make it harder on the peeps who obey the rules. You are going to see a good amount of drone thefts, and drone pilots getting harassed, and assaulted, because of this rule.

    I've been flying the E2P for some time now and video capture from this drone is quite simply outstanding !!
    The MP2 is a very distant 2nd for videography, especially since it is restricted to 4k @ 30fps.
    And the obstacle avoidance works in all modes (except ludicrous) with the E2P, whereas the MP2 has a more limited capability.

  • @levelerzero1214
    @levelerzero1214 Před 3 lety +1

    In the first glance the videos of the Autel Evo 2 Pro looks better. I think this is because of contrast and texture enhancement algorithms. In a pro scenario you don't want your camera to pre-process the video, because you want to do - or not do - this later in post processing. If you look at this material from the perspective of actual image information present in the picture - and not from visual pleasure - they look pretty equal. When you import raw stills (what you probably did) into Lightroom and apply same processing, they give similar result.

    • @learningcameras
      @learningcameras  Před 3 lety +1

      So yes, stills do look pretty similar and were imported as RAW files with just a slight edge in detail and low light performance but the video even when you remove some of the extra sharpening and contrast from the EVO is still better than the DJI. The reason as I went in to in the video is that the Mavic 2 Pro does not do a full pixel readout in any mode except 4k crop modes and at that point, it uses a smaller portion of the sensor so you are also losing quality at that point. It was one of the biggest disappointments after the Mavic 2 Pro dropped. The Evo 2 solves this since it is able to create a full pixel readout AND does it using the full 6k resolution. Or, in 4k it offers full 10bit oversampling thus creating more detail in the final videos. Most likely the EVO just has a better processor that allows it to do this. Original rumors on the Mavic also pointed to overheating being the issue that DJI couldn't oversample 4k video and they created a firmware update for the "HQ" crop mode

    • @miketipton678
      @miketipton678 Před 3 lety +1

      @@levelerzero1214 The Hasselblad I think was a great marketing aspect. M2P is a bit long in the tooth remember. Autel E2P is a clear winner for many reasons. I think DJI will have something sooner than later though. Autel has the advantage with clear camera quality, and the no flight restriction stuff.. The latter brought most into the Autel camp. I like both companies, but it's nice to see competition that is really good. Reminds me of Sony coming in to compete with Nikon, and Canon... since then, look at the major changeover in both of those companies in order to compete with Sony.

    Thanks for the review. Does the M2P shoot 10-bit video? The E2P will shoot 10-bit video if you record in H.265, LOG and 4K/30. That can make a big difference in eliminating ugly color banding in clear blue skies and on smooth surfaces with gradual color gradations (like beach sand). You will need a good editor, such as DaVinci Resolve Studio, to take full advantage of 10-bit color.

    I have the EVO 2 Pro. It's definitely not a quad that you open the box, start flying and all is perfect. It takes a bit of dialing in, both the flight characteristics and camera have a lot of settings that you need to play with to get it to fly and the video quality that you want. I got mine flying just the way I want, not I have to play with the camera settings to get the clean and crisp video I want.

    EVO 2 seems to be the best over-all bang for the buck right now in terms of a drone. One plus as well is that it's an American company, and it seems like a lot of the DJI stuff has spiked in price due to the importation issues that have been going on this past year. You can get a nicely loaded EVO 2 Pro with spare battery, parts, case, remote, etc. for about $1.9K on Amazon, while DJI is selling the Mavic 2 Pro for $1.6k and not even included a controller or a charger - which is kind of a ripoff, but also considering that it all has to get imported from China, I'm sure their supplies are running tight with the holiday season right about the corner.
    The combination of excellent video as well as still photos & improved low-light / variable light conditions for the EVO 2 Pro makes this a winner for real estate photography.

      Those Amazon Autels are all V1 (discontinued) chipset models. Still. V2 Came out Late July. They are fine for Hobbyists of course, but the V2 is Dual Band 2.4/5.8 and there are no Smart Controllers for the V1 left (they built 500 units) Also its NOT an American company. Based in Shenzen, owned by Chinese and Chinese nationals. They have management staff in Bothell WA and build the Enterprise model here from Chinese parts. They have done a great snow job with "Built in America". That said I have a V4 Evo 2 Pro Rugged Kit and V2 Smart Controller. 2 extra batteries and charging hub I'm at $3600. Important Announcement. The Evo 2 drone is here. Drones such as the SZYM and Yuneec Typhoon series are now absolete tanks. This is because camera tech has improved and this level camera can now be mounted on a smaller platform, and Autel Robotics has done this. To be fair, these larger quads do have more then 4 props, so if you lose a prop you're still getting home, but that's all you're paying extra for now. DJI keeps comparing it to other older drones such as the Mavic 2 pro and Phantom 4. If you search, there is a video with a guy on a bike comparing the tracking, showing the Evo tracking is far superior. It is the only foldable drone right now with binocular optical avoidance in all 6 directions. It is an entry level commercial grade drone being used for light commercial applications. There is a video showing where dude explains how his Evo 2 has farther transmission then his Mavic 2 pro. The Mavic 2 pro does'nt even film in 4k 60 fps, that is a BIG downside for me, that is the standard in the commercial world right now. The Evo 2 is heavier because it has more avoidance sensors as well as a bigger heavier battery, which is only a very good thing. Not only longer flight time but the heavier weight with its low profile aerodynamic construction, my Evo 2 laughs at moderate winds. The Phantom 4 tries to compare but with its primitive OA sensors and short flight time due to large construction to carry primitive camera, it does not. DJI drones limit you to 120 meters altitude in the US, my EVO 2 can go 800 meters, I'm not sure if you realize how low 120 meters is. Evo 2 now has hyperlapse filming modes and keep in mind that every aspect of flight behavious and breaking can be fine tuned in the settings. Oh, and as far as falling out of the sky like these DJI guys claim or to be turning while youre flying, these things don't happen with my Evo 2 pro, it is an amazing flyer every time. Also, the other day I had a question about the newest firmware, Autel responded to my email within a few hours and helped me, not an automated robot response, they actually have people working there.

      I would definitely get the 2S. There are a few things the evo 2 does better (like having an adjustable aperture) but the M2S is so much cheaper, it probably wouldn't make sense to get the Evo 2 at this point and the 8k isn't necessarily an advantage. @@learningcameras Thanks, I checked out the video. It's a pretty close race still for me, also considering Evo 2 includes touchscreen controller and 40 minute flight time vs. 31. I'm getting the expanded package either way, so that becomes 120min vs 93min. Dji has a 2 year insurance plan for the same price as Autel's 1 year, though. I'm not a camera pro, but the 1" sensor seems to be a big deal. Price for what I want (expanded package w three batteries, accessories, waterproof case, and insurance) is going to be Evo 2 ~$1900 vs Air 2S ~ $1600. There are a few other factors I want to consider such as still MP, flight range, geo-fencing, and nuances of intelligent flight modes. I'll probably end up drawing up a comparison chart as I'm big on specs.
