this was my childhood optimus, (well not this fancy version, the normal one) and i had lost it a long time ago, but was able to reclaim it on a trip to see my partner last year. it meant so much to have him back and it meant so much to find him with the love of my life 💖
I could have almost ended up being one of those people. Took me entirely too many years to learn the torso could be locked... ...although to be perfectly honest, I'm still tempted to glue the thing regardless just to get rid of the little bit of waggle it has even while locked, and then I could also just cut the tab off as well.
I had the initial release that came in the two-pack with Megatron. The greebles on his inner leg are based on the vents on his shins from the original toy for... some reason? I don't know why they didn't just put them on the shins. I didn't find out that you can lock the chest back in place by pulling back HARD on the tab that makes it spin. In case anyone reading this didn't know, you're really supposed to push that lever to make him spin, but it's so unwieldy that it's not worth it.
My brother and I split the two pack when we were kids (he got Megatron), and while he's outdated and very much outdated compared to recent Optimus Prime figures, but he's definitely got a charm all his own, even with the goofy truck mode.
Great video, this was my childhood Optimus Prime and one day on a car ride at a stoplight the figure slid off of my seat and underneath the front seat of the car and I never saw it again. I looked for it hundreds of times but I never found it somehow. Always thought it was an underrated Optimus figure
This may not be a great figure, but the version of this that came in the two pack with Megatron was my first Prime and will always be my favorite Prime
I got that original mould in the Megatron two pack, it was such a pitiful truck but great robo. And that gun has travelled all amongst my Primes over the years, it's just that good.
It's so funny to me that they've basically took one moment from the g1 and built a toy around it(yes OP did this move in the show, I believe it was fire in the sky)
@@bacproduction7186 Other way around, Megatron spun his waist then knocked Prime over. Prime spun his wrist to block Megatron's attack. The episode is on CZcams if you want to see it. It's near the end of it.
@@voltronimusprime3833 I might be wrong about exact episode but I distinctly remember that at some point OP T-posed and started to spin his torso and knocked Megatron out
the regular version was one of my first transformers, got him with the movie fast action battler. i still love this fugure tho, and if they changed him up make the thighs collapse and replaced the spinny gimmick with a swivel he would be almost perfect.
The robot mode for him looks great. He's definitely one of my favourite looking modes in our collection if you don't pick him up. The G2 Megatron that came with him in the ultimate battle dvd boxset is way better!
I've always loved the bot mode, I mean the gimmick sucks bit it's also easy to ignore. I was never sure why this thing gets so much hate. I do prefer the other paint job though
I bought the original version at Retro Gaming Expo last year, absolutely love how pathetic the truck mode is, how jank the robot mode feels, and the most pointless rotating gimmick. It’s like “The Room” of Optimus Prime figures.
I picked this up secondhand as an adult collector and I loved it. Not the gimmick, that was shite. But for posing dramatically? Slag, yeah! He felt like he stepped off the screen compared with my G1 Optimus. He was the centrepiece of my display. That was until Masterpiece took me. God that truck mode is vile.
Honestly I never understood the hate this figure got. It's a pretty good incarnation of g1 prime. Although I could be biased because it was my first g1 prime. (Grew up on Armada)
Honestly, if they'd just dropped the spin gimmick and instead put a bit more effort into transformation, this figure could have maybe been the BEST ever.
I wish I could be this forgiving, but outside of his robot mode, and fun COD machine gun/turret I just about hate everything about this little guy. The spinning gimmick is obnoxious, the unpinned waist causes it to easily fall in half, and the truck is abysmal. Light piping is peak though.
I think this is the first time in my life that i heard positive stuff about this figure.

i know people who ruined this one by putting glue on the torso from spinning...while all you need to do is pull the tab out to lock it.

This would, of course, end up being only the second most Lego-looking Optimus truck in the franchise.

I got this lad in a goodiebag at a birthday. My first optimus prime ever!
I remember getting this as a kid, man that takes me back
I got that original mould in the Megatron two pack, it was such a pitiful truck but great robo. And that gun has travelled all amongst my Primes over the years, it's just that good.
God this is either the first or one of the first Optimus primes I ever got
It's so funny to me that they've basically took one moment from the g1 and built a toy around it(yes OP did this move in the show, I believe it was fire in the sky)
Megatron was the one who did it in that episode, don't remember if Prime ever did it.
@@voltronimusprime3833 no it was prime who did it, megatron did helicopter arm wich they replicated with his deluxe

Finally, somebody who also loves classics deluxe prime as much as I do
Man that classics toyline is so nostalgic for me. I got a thundercracker and it was cool
the regular version was one of my first transformers, got him with the movie fast action battler. i still love this fugure tho, and if they changed him up make the thighs collapse and replaced the spinny gimmick with a swivel he would be almost perfect.

I'm glad someone also appreciates infinite rotation prime.
ah yes the Optimus with the Taz the Tasmania Devil gimmick.
I played more with that optimus prime over the voyager. The voyager look rate on display but that deluxe is so fun to play with.
This, and that Megatron were my first Prime and Meg. Still have them both, there are both terrible and I love them
Use a small hair tie like for braids the little clear ones wrap it in the area that is spinning around and it will act as a washer 🙏
Love this prime got it in the 2 pack with Megs
I've always loved the bot mode, I mean the gimmick sucks bit it's also easy to ignore. I was never sure why this thing gets so much hate. I do prefer the other paint job though
I remember you posted this on your twitter and unlocked a childhood memory for me. I immediately bought one XD
Shit! I never knew you could lock the torso. Guess I'm getting a new one😂😂
Thank you so much I find this figure so charming I needed the validation lmao
The United color scheme is so good if you want a glow up
I bought the original version at Retro Gaming Expo last year, absolutely love how pathetic the truck mode is, how jank the robot mode feels, and the most pointless rotating gimmick.
It’s like “The Room” of Optimus Prime figures.
DAMN STRAIGHT THE BEST OPTIMUS
Man I used to have the DVD version of this fig - until I kept trying to make him fly so he snapped at the waist.
I still have that toy in storage.
Devastating light piping?
Delight piping
I still stand by the fact that this is in the bottom 5 of all Optimus figures.
I still love this Optimus figure and the dvd with him.❤ But not the old tank Megatron.
I have this figure in box with Megatron. I got it off Ebay.
Honestly I never understood the hate this figure got. It's a pretty good incarnation of g1 prime. Although I could be biased because it was my first g1 prime. (Grew up on Armada)
Definetly designed as an action figure first, and Transformer second. Still want one to pair with the Classics deluxe Megatron.
The megatron that he came with was a nice homage to his g2 self kinda but his cannonarm was just odd
Honestly I just want that gun, what a fun idea
Helicoptimus Prime
Honestly, if they'd just dropped the spin gimmick and instead put a bit more effort into transformation, this figure could have maybe been the BEST ever.
I actually love this figure too, sure the head not getting covered in truck mode annoys me, but in a good way if you know what I mean. 😅
I recall when Thew said that this was the most average (meh) figure he owned, how times have changed
Figure looks good
Saw “dumbest gimmick” and immediately thought of this one! I love it for its daftness, but the huge eyes bother me for some reason
I dunno... I think I prefer this deco.
Oh look spinning helicopter torso prime
Certainly not one i expected to hear praise on but...
Honestly? I agree!
Didn’t everyone hate this one? I’m suprised someone is singing praises on that one.

Beyblade Prime
Peak
XD
Peaktimus prime
700
One of the worst
I never liked this Optimus prime the gimmick sucks
