- Dead Cells: Return to Castlevania DLC reviewed by Cameron Hawkins on PC, also available on PlayStation, Xbox, and Nintendo Switch.
The latest paid expansion to Dead Cells is a shining blueprint of how to do a crossover right. It celebrates the history of Castlevania while mixing it with Dead Cells’ own identity to make something that’s more than the sum of its already excellent parts. Not only does this collaboration feel like it makes total sense, the utmost care has clearly been put into every aspect, whether it be the still fantastic monster-slaying combat or the huge number of secrets waiting to be found inside. Regardless of whether this is the last content update Dead Cells will get or not, developers Motion Twin and Evil Empire deserve to receive their flowers and proudly take a massive bow.

The game is fantastic and in pretty sure tons of people have yet to play it. Their updates every few months have all been great for years.
Dead Cells always gives quality content. Glad this DLC turned out well! Love the modern twist on presentation.

Sometimes you have to since you can't pick your main stat.

Devs aren't the problem, Konami always was.
You know Metroid Dread and Metroid 2: Samus Returns? Those same devs made the last Castlevania trilogy.

You do know that only way they were able to make this DLC was that Konami allowed it? So it means Konami is actually giving Dead Cell Devs a chance to see if they can make it a hit. if it really sells well then maybe Konami will give them a chance to make a stand alone game.

Dead Cells animated trailers are always top notch.
We all know the prisoner will always die in some dumb way, but it never ceases to be funny.
That's an easy 10 not for this dlc only but for the Queen dlc as well motion twin always deliver

I've been sleeping on Dead Cells because I'm not too keen on roguelikes, but absolutely love Metroidvanias. This might finally pull me in.

Just wish the map wasn't procedurally generated. A well thought-out map that's actually *designed* by someone who understands how Metroid-Vanias work would make this so much better.

Never ever watch these reviews if you have even a modicum of interest in playing the game for yourself. Gotta love him talking about how shocking *SPOILERS* that moment of Dracula showing up to take the weapons away from the shop was. It's a little thing, but this completely robs the surprise of that moment for everyone else. Not to mention footage here shows literally everything in the whole DLC minus the final final boss fight.
I'll never understand IGN reviews. At the very least they should come with spoiler warnings.
* Really want a remaster of Lament of Innocence + Curse of Darkness, never got to play em
* Be cool to also get new games, including perhaps an Adaption of the Netflix series? Even if it was a side scroller like right here. Going through key moments would be pretty awesome
The Netflix show is based mainly around castlevania 3 for the NES so they wouldn't make a game after the series considering they made the series around the game
@@coryhughes9178The first two seasons are a loose adaptation. The rest is its own thing. Its different to the point that a game based on it probably wouldn’t play like the game it’s based on.

Metroid was the first game so far so this year, but they've also given out 10s to a TLoU Episode and AoT as well (TV Reviews, but still 10s given out so far).

Motion Twin and Evil Empire should probably look into Teaming Up with Konami to make a full fledge Castlevania Game. Maybe one based on the War of 1999. Give us a game Putting The Strongest Belmont, Julius, Front and Center

No difficulty options like elden ring? That's annoying. Doesn't seem to be much of a story neither.
@@MrVariantGTA ain't got any difficulty settings, crash bandicoot, Spyro etc. etc. Don't be one of those critics that can't even play an arcade game. Be lame if you wanna but pacman and Tetris was HITTIN and they didn't have nothing but levels and no difficulty settings
