I can't remember which one but it's a couple videos back where it touch bases on that.. as much as I can do... There's no real way to make a video about that that I have came up with but if I do I will in the future..(keep in mind there's more than 60 different kind of car brands in each brand to have dozens and dozens of different vehicles running today and dozens of dozens discontinued it's too much of a broad subject all I can do is touch bases on it from time to time)

    Mother's headlight restoration polish is what i use and includes a uv protectant. I don't buff with the 3m polish. The Sanding disks is what i buy the kit for. The end results are great, but you will still need to redo it every couple years because of uv exposure. I just wrap mine in Vvivid headlight hex tint when done and it looks great and extends headlight maintenance. Clean off polish before application or it will generate air pockets under the tint.

    • @theheadlightrestorationpro
      @theheadlightrestorationpro  Před rokem +4

      Burn from the inside is extremely rare...
      Having any defects is rare on the inside..
      And if it is there you would see it 9 times out of 10...
      You just have to train your eye.. know what you're looking at...
      This will only happen from experience...

    • @theheadlightrestorationpro
      @theheadlightrestorationpro  Před 7 měsíci +1

      Yes... This product is a true ment for headlight restoration product....most headlight products are ment to stick to this substance (polycarbonate)
      People are very worried about things adhering because they use things not designed for headlights so those things have a very hard time adhering....
      I've never once had an issue with this in well over 1,000 headlights.....(this product)

    At what RPM are you using for the sanding? | Have you ever used a Cleaning Eraser Stick for removing dust and build up from abrasive belts and sanding discs? I use it when sanding wood on my bench top belt and disc sander, it quickly removes build up and renews the sanding belt/discs!

    I’ve done this method but I still have swirl marks on my headlights. What do you recommend?

    • @theheadlightrestorationpro
      @theheadlightrestorationpro  Před rokem +5

      I recommend doing exactly what I've done on these 40 plus videos.. you just have to view the videos and have more attention to detail.. such as pay attention to my strokes and how light I am.. also make sure you're using the exact same stuff I'm using or things will change.... Other people say they are but they're not doing what I'm doing if they were the lights would come out perfect...
      But the most common problem with what you got going on is pressure wanted to take it all off at once instead of multiple passes, the second most common is they're not using what I'm using.... The third most common obviously you're not checking your work good enough... And just finishing anyways... It's a bad habit and I do it myself sometimes then have to redo it... But if they're there at the finished product that means they were there beforehand and you didn't stop them...

      They have a couple different bottles but the same product.. different bottles generally just mean a different times or how old are long ago it was made.... The one I show on the videos is the most recent.. long as it has that number it's the same...

    How come you don't remove the lights from the vehicle to perform the restoration, seems like a better option than all the tapping you are doing,serms like you could get better results and have a better platform to work from instead of a sitting on a little stool in front of the vehicle

    • @theheadlightrestorationpro
      @theheadlightrestorationpro  Před rokem +2

      Actually quite wrong... You would think so.. but not every headlight is easy to remove from the vehicle... Number two this is a mobile service... Can't be sitting there taking cars apart in front of somebody's house.. number three liability issue.. doing mechanic work on somebody's vehicle put you in another category as far as business and liability etc... much higher risk of breaking something or damaging something.. number four it is unnecessary your only resurfacing the front surface of the headlight...(everything you're servicing you have right there) number five nothing can hold the headlights still as good as a 2000 lb vehicle... And it's quite difficult working on a headlight when it's loose..
      Number six when you working on a couple headlights a day and different parts of town it would be an insane nightmare to remove every single light.. number seven and one of the biggest reasons not only are some headlights more difficult to remove but some would be ridiculous to do in a mobile setting and take quite some time to remove because you'd have to remove the tires, partial fender well, and the bumper just to change the headlight like on my own personal vehicle (many newer vehicles have this design)
      Number 8 the stool is perfect for working on headlights is designed for working on vehicles and rolls on the wheels and has tool drawers and much more very convenient and extremely comfortable..
      And number nine.. once you're finished with the headlight it is recommended not to touch on and have car washes for minimum of 24 hours during the summer time 48 hours in the winter. So It's definitely not a good idea to spray them and then try to put them in right away...
      Number 10 at least but not last... Time... It's not easy to remove headlight it takes about 30 minutes to do both on an easy vehicle.... medium difficult headlight takes about an hour to do both,, the real difficult ones like on my vehicle .. professional mechanics take around an hour and a half labor to remove the headlights as I stated earlier..
      Versus 45 minutes of work from start to finish adding on those times on top of that... Extremely less efficient.. in a business setting or even in a normal DYI setting.. time is money...
      The list goes on and on....
      And I do them both, every once in a while I end up doing some lights that are outside of the vehicle just because that's how somebody has them it's a surcharge because it's not as easy...food for thought...
      Hope that answers question good enough..
      Thank you for watching..😊

    • @theheadlightrestorationpro
      @theheadlightrestorationpro  Před 10 měsíci +1

      Is irrelevant what I charge.. it's it's a very complicated system... It's always different... If you want to know how much have that restoration cost you should Google people doing it in your area it's always different from City to City to state to state.. the economy is different everywhere... What you would pay in San Diego California is not what you would pay in Houston Texas...

    I have 49 years doing auto body repair. I found polishing a waste of time. I wet sand the light by hand depending on how bad the light is I start with 220 grit for real bad lights but usually start with 4 or 6 hundred grit. I final sand with 1000 grit the spray the light with the same clear we paint the cars with. No polish the clear fills 1000 grit scrathes and gives it good bond

      Good for you....that's the old way for when a lot of this technology did exist.. Also alot of auto body guys think of this as auto body...(me bing one too) but it's not...it's like night and day,,,,there's a lot more science in headlights and the restoration of headlightd being a functioning part...you can't just put a clear substance on them for instance...much much different,..
