Great review! For the steering, I just bound a dx5c which allowed individual D/R tuning and added more throw to the right, also added a longer screw and a few spacers between the servo horn and steering link so the angle wasn’t as extreme. Turns much better and even on right and left. My only gripe if I had one would be the proprietary sensor cable to the motor making an esc swap un-doable w/o changing the motor as well, along with the motor mount not allowing aftermarket motors. Would prefer a more creeping capable esc for crawling personally. There are a few panhard braces u can make to eliminate the flex as well, I ended up just getting the metal axles and shock towers. (plus the silver axles and towers just look great lol). From hearing the axial designer live chat, they are selling well so wouldn’t be surprised if the other companies are cooking up a 6th scale. Again, great review!

Thank you for the newsy and informative comment :) I've got a few bits of alu bracket I was considering making into a stiffening frame to help with the panhard, but for now I'm going to just drive it some more to get a deeper feel for the rig overall. Getting that end-point sorted was not negotiable though - it is just so bad from factory! Blimey!
I rather suspect Traxxas and others may drop a 1/6 scale rig at some point. So while there are some other impressive rigs out there right now, I might set some money aside to be ready for whatever else comes to the sixth scale party! Here's hoping!

This thing is massive! Bummer about the body cracking too! This also looks like a new course we haven't seen yet. Less boulder-ey but challenging loose dirt and side hilling. I went to a small comp yesterday and saw some wild rigs. I still don't know exactly the class but the event was advertised as a pro/shaft comp. Some were motor over axle, some were single motor shaft drive, and all were running pin tires (2.2 I think). They looked like crabs going over the big river rocks. Fun to see a comp run and see the different setups! I tried one of the courses on my own and the Sendero did better than I expected. The TSL SX XL's did really well on the wet rocks and moss. Ultimately the crazy side hill gates and tight turning needed would have meant an assured DNF in an actual attempt. I assume a class 2 course would look different though :) . I noticed the bull bar on the bumper getting caught on things but your steering servo tips are really helpful to manage the approach angle and for moving the front of the truck a bit like you did here. More good driving practice and fun!

That's my thinking too. It adds up on the smaller cars - you're just getting a lot of it out of the way from new. And the stock electronics aren't bad, lack of a dedicated BEC aside. The steering servo is quite adequate on 7.2v, which it's rated for.
They needed new tooling for the parts, new boxing, etc etc. The brushless system alone is worth quite a bit.
It's a shame some of the basics were off-point but overall it's a decent effort and the price is about right. I predict they'll be USD$999 before too long and if Traxxas or others release something like this, the next version will be similarly priced and a bit better. One can hope!

Bec definitely helps. Wire it the same way you'd usually do it for any crawler - power from the battery line to the BEC; a y-splitter from the receiver with red/power wire removed/disconnected to the receiver; BEC connects to the y-splitter and servo connects to the y-splitter too.
Now the power goes from the bec to the servo while the signal still goes from the receiver.

@Mr. FiSH the TRX4 is a brilliant jack of all trades. The Slash is a fun basher but has its limitations. You've got nothing that can do big air with any great degree of control (Slash can jump but it's not the same) and the Xmaxx is just so different from the other two rigs you have! The SCX6 is a lovely machine, but it's trail-oriented rather than a dedicated crawler, despite how it looks on paper, and the TRX4 really has that kinda covered already, size aside.
If you want a crawler and trail machine, the SCX6 is certainly special and I think you'll enjoy it. The bigger scale really adds to its trail presence.
But the Xmaxx is more different to what you already have and it brings another dimension to your RC fun, while the SCX6 simply extends and changes a little what you already have in the TRX4 - though it's greater size certainly changes the experience!
That's my logic, but again, it's down to personal preference. What do you want? What is lacking in your RC play? What do both these bring to the table that might answer those things best? Etc etc

But you didn't walk in a store and buy this, because it was a pre-release that was sent to you, right? If they sold that to you with all the gunk on it and stuff, i'd bring it back to the store and ask him about it incase other things start showing up.

@@YoShImUrA53 thanks yoshi. I plan on staying roughly consistent with existing style and approach in future, with just more polish and hopefully less effort /higher efficiency - most videos take me ages to create and I'm hoping to lower that time investment.
I can't promise I won't do the occasional crazy thing to get eyeballs but despite how it might look, I'm continually conscious of the state of the planet and am looking to reduce my waste and resource consumption. My logic with all these crawlers is to hopefully reduce unnecessary purchases by many, so we can get our enjoyment from the hobby without all wastefully buying extra vehicles and finding we don't like them after the fact! Something like that, anyway!
