- Canon Rock (Canon in D by Pachelbel) definitely is a song many guitar players want to learn on their way. The iconic version of Jerry C is known by most people - let alone the incredible cover version of Funtwo - a real guitar cover classic here on CZcams!
This is my one hour guitar progress video for learning Canon Rock now in 2022. I take the challenge to push my skills and learn more about vibrato, bendings and sweep picking! I invite you to watch how I approach a song by sidereading tabs and then approaching the song step by step! =) I wish you lots of fun!

Im just going to say this meeting on yutube is one of best memories friend. An i always love your guitar covers your a very special lady.
I think you will and are one of greatest female guitartist of all time. Thats just my opinion friend
Which tab software you are using?
@@mo5329 also keen to know this!
@@portland573?
@@mo5329 also curious as to which tab software. Guitar Pro etc...
What you did in an hour, I couldn't even dream of playing in my life! Well done!
Thank you 😊 though if you never try you never know!
I’ve been playing about 50 years and still have not tackled that beast. You are inspiring young lady.
Thank you William =) Let's see how much time I need to invest in order to play it xD
@@JassyPabst Hey Angel! 😘🤗❤️🤘🏻
@@tieukhavu8832 this is one of the first songs I ever tackled.....3 years later and....I can almost play the intro about 15 percent of the time....
@@Knoxvillemoto czcams.com/video/JdxkVQy7QLM/video.html Check that out
50 years. You should be flawless by now. Spent to much time off of the neck than on
Canon Rock is an absolutely wild song and that was a pretty awesome first attempt. It will sound like jerryc/fun two in no time. 🤘🙂👍
Thank you! I doubt it though haha! I need to stretch my fingers even more and that takes its time 😅
@@JassyPabst He's right, tho - for a first attempt, AT FULL SPEED NO LESS, that was pretty amazing! =)
Thanks for that comment about moving to another part of the neck, because of small fingers - I have the same problem and need to try doing the same, more often (it has hardly even crossed my mind that this is an option 🙈) - usually I only try look for other ways to play the notes when there is clearly an error on the tab! xD
Oooo you are really good, fun to watch how you think about practice. Good job
I've played on and off for almost 20 years, try sticking to on but have had countless injuries and rehabilitations, keeping me from playing and I feel like I'm getting back into it and I see something like this... Your sight reading playthrough, flabbergasts me! Keep giving to the world the way you are, Inspiration is a hell of a drug! All the best things in life to you lady!
That guitar looks so sick!!!
It’s definitely sick!!!
always good vids with the huge talent of JJ
Damn, i forgot that this song even existed. When i saw the cover of this ~15 years ago i told myself that i can play this when im 25.. Well im almost a decade late but maybe ill start to learn this now. You did great playing this, and even better inspiring me to play something that is out of my comfort zone, thank you!
wow...you are very talented, excellent job.
I love your honesty & you are not afraid to show just how raw learning can be, we are all on a journey & I'm grateful that you are sharing yours with us...most inspiring!
Sehr gut performance!! You did really well learning and playing this song. Keep rocking, fraulein!!
This song is beast , best neo classical metal that jerry c has composed , loved the video , have a great day !!!!
Thanks for sharing us your process of learning a song. It’s nice and motivating for people to know everything takes practice and it is fine. I also love how humble you are. Stay classy! 🤘
Totally awesome
Yes part 2
AWESOME PLAYING!
Awesome video, I love your positive energy
🤘🏻😊🤘🏻
Killing it!
Amazing!!! What a God's gifted talent.. Go on...👌👌👍
thank you for the great video. I enjoyed you explaining the way you learn songs and that there are difficult techneques that aren't s so easy to master. Great to see that you enioy doing some different style of videos. keep on the great work :-)
I can’t think notes as fast as you can play them. Your work, diligence, and practice-ethic is to be much admired. YOU are a rockNroll treasure, indeed!
Thank you Ryder 😊 At some point I trained side reading tabs and it helps also a lot to gain confidence on the fretboard!!!
@@JassyPabst
YOU put in the time!
Many out here can imagine great guitar skills, in their heads, but they gotta put in the time! You have the mental-discipline to practice and keep learning, and the results are evident.
On a personal note:
Your metal sound would KILL in basic three-chord rockNroll,
for starters.
Just for the fun of it! Metal-ize some old/new RNR, and you’d kick some ass! It’s 180 from what you do, but sometimes it’s good to step out of the box and look around.
As long as you keep Rockin’, and I’ve been rockin’ for a long, long, long time here in TEXAS!
You've earned my subs JJ's you such a great gitarist.
Great sound!
No words. Excellent!!!
This was an amazing upload.
Love the tone. Great performance! Thanks alot!
Thank you 😊
Very well done! It's a pretty complicated song to learn and to finally play and you totally succeeded! 🤘🤟
Congratulations I really appreciate this video seeing your progression and what you went through. I'm a crap bass player but Iv pushed my self to the max and learnt 3:30 of Cannon rock. I now consider myself a rock star and you are too. 🤘
It took me 16 months to get it, but I never gave up.
Best of luck on the next part it is insane.
I love learning about how we learn the subtle little steps of a process we take to build knowledge/Beginning, Understanding/intermediate Wisdom/Expert... Great vids thanks.
Great job Jassy you're amazing. I wish I could play like you 🤘❤
Absolutely amazing playing I hope the day where I can play this song comes sooner than I think it will :)
Great work Jassy, that was awesome for 1 hour of playing it 😀🤘🎵🔥🔥🔥🔥
Thank you ver much Adam 😊
Not so long ago we talked about playing classic music, it's a pretty serious a completely different level. The level that you have today is very high, but you're right, practice, practice and practice again… I am deeply convinced that you will perfectly cope with the task and it will be an amazing performance 🎸🎸🎸
That was kickass!
Good work jassy
Really liked your honest detailed evaluation of your performance and learning of it. As a much less talented guitarist, it's refreshing and helpful to see this side of those who make everything look effortless
You did that in one hour.....outstanding
Never heard this song before sounds amazing. You did very well. Please a second part.
Dedication, and passion. That was much awesomeness
Sehr interessant zuzusehen 😊 danke für die Einblicke
This is Awesome Love this 🤘🏻🤘🏻🤘🏻
Jeez, that's a pretty impressive first sight read, let alone the rapid progress!
That was very interesting 🤗✨
Thank you 🤘😃
Amazing... you are truly a perfectionist.. first run sounded incredible...
Great!
Yes do learn the 2nd part...thank you.
Great video.
Wow.. That was amazing after only 1 hour. And I really like that guitar!
Nice job yo, it sounds great 🔥🔥
Just came here one month ago and wooooowww. This is great. Keep rocking 🤘🏻🤘🏻
Thank you very much 😊 hope you enjoy my future videos :)
@@JassyPabst I will look forward to
🤘😎🤘awesome job
You made more progress in 1 hour than I've made in 10 years dabbling at this song... I have never been able to get the sweep picking sections clean, but the main melody is just so fun to play that I love to play it anyway.
Your first attempt was way better than mine would have been after 2 years of practicing it
That’s all about how much you play 😊 As I do livestreams 4 times a week I am quite trained!
Just awesome
🤘🏻🤘🏻🤘🏻
Man i remember i tried tackling this at one point.....decent but wasnt great lol maybe ill try retackling again but that sweep picking part or sweep picking in general kills me anywho you are on ur way to greatness plz do part 2. U rock!
Very impressive indeed!😁
I’m in love 😍
I definitely want to learn it
Wow jj you certainly know how to play rock music. Must admit for a 71 year old left handed guitar 🎸 player, wish I could play so fast like 👍 you. Fantastic performance 🎭 you go girl. As Neil Young once said, keep 👏 on rocking in the free world. Best wishes ❤ from lefty Jeff. X
Good Job 👏👏👏👏
Thank you 😊
I thought u did very good on it. I luv that song and have been trying to play it myself. It is a very difficult song to learn, that is true. I've seen other videos of people playing that song, and wish I could learn it. Maybe someday I'll get it. Practice makes perfect they say. U played it much better than I could, and r a much better guitarist than I am. 🤘
this is insane how good you are and how fast you learn, i am a beginner and this is my dream song to play one day, so i tried to learn it without the sweeping parts, so around 70% of the song and it took me 3 months to learn that at 70% speed, cant imagine playing it correctly at 100% speed + the sweep parts, just the idea is absolutely insane
Hey Shred Dragon,
firstly I thought you did a great job, and you've always been a great friend to me ever since I discovered your channel and your music, and you always have all my support, that being said I think you did an excellent job even on your first try and don't worry about your dexterity because your rehearsal skills are great and like you said the more you practice, the better your dexterity will be I'm a left-handed guitar player and I have very little dexterity in my fretting hand so don't feel bad because from my point of view your practicing skills are excellent, and my goal is to have guitar playing skills as good as yours this was a very awesome insight video and I just want you to know again you have deeply inspired me to be a CZcams guitarist myself and once my guitar is fixed, and I have it in my hands again that's exactly what I'm going to do because it looks like so much fun and not to mention it's a great way to follow a big dream of mine which is being taken seriously as a guitarist and getting past my own insecurities about having a "disability" so I just wanted to say thank you very much take care of yourself thank you for being a great friend and inspiration and of course stay safe and rock on!!!
Glad to see you pushing yourself to better your guitar playing . 🤜🏻🤛🏻🤘🏻
I try my best 😂
@@JassyPabst your better than most guitarist including me and I’ve been at it 30 years this year . So keep up the good work and keep on rocking 🤘🏻🤘🏻
Do the part 2, you're amazing!!!
Awesome video Jassy 😊👍👍
Thank you =)
Keep on Rock 🤟
I have to get to Germany. My grandfather came off a ship in America and I have family somewhere around Frankfurt..... More on topic, your progress is great and you're a much better guitarist than I can ever probably hope to be, though I'm going up continue to try.
hey that is pretty excellent and good advice, im a bass player thats trying to learn some metal
You're right, feeling is the most important. But this is a thing that you have too much. 👍👍👍
You did awesome! Better than I could do in a week! 😂🙌🏼🤘🏼
my one hour try is only the first 10-15seconds of the song. 😂 so yeah, you are amazing, woman!
it was quite impressive one hour pratice for this song. Congrats to make it to that point and just take the step to actually learn it. I think you will be able to achieve the song at the end of this week or the next and probably you will struggle with all your WtF?? moments in the video or maybe not. Anyway its always a pleasure to listen to you, keep rocking!
Oh no it will take toll the end of this year haha 😂 thank you though 😊
🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘
That sweep is nice :)
Thank you! Not that clean enough though haha 😅
@@JassyPabst You still did a very good job :)
Im strugling with less complicated songs like Sweet child o mine .
Wow Jassy you are a very fast learner I really enjoyed it 🎸🎸💥💥🌟🌟🤗🤗🤘🤘💛💛
Thank you Stuart!! 😊
i was watching her play and thinking wow!!
You asked if your progress was "decent enough". I think you played the song, including the sweeps, very well, even at the start when you were sightreading the tabs. I'd definitely like to see part 2 !
Pachebel's "Canon in D" is one of the songs I've been tasked to learn in my violin challenge and "Canon Rock" is a song I tried to learn on the guitar but failed with the sweeps. Suddenly the violin version seems easier :D
that's why I love classical
So lang since I last heard/played this song !! I practiced this song for weeks haha but never learned the sweep picking xD. But for 1 hour of practice, its pretty insane how far you can play it🤘🤘 Maybe I'll give it a try myself someday soon xD
Love from Indonesia 👍
You absolutely are amazing Jassy! I'll never be able to play this song. I'll stick with the Moonlight Sonata and turn it into a classical metal ballad!
🤘🏿😈🎸 Well done!!!That was great!!! Getcha Pull-Cheers 🤘🏿🎃
Wow ! So great! I listened to it before just in the piano version by Hiromi Uehara, It's not easy to play with the guitar because it's very fast. Some high notes very particular 🎶 but you played very very well! 👏👏👏
Really good!
Thank you so much 🙏
Wish you all the best 👍💪🎸
Hi Jassy,
I am writing to inform you that you did your best and that’s all anyone can ask of you to do and new take on a new video to do :). Gotta love that classical musics.
Hope to hear from you soon, stay safe, and rock on 🤘
Thank you very much Richie! Hopefully I can play that song completely one day!
@@JassyPabst you will
Nice job jj 😊🤘🏾
Thank you 😊
@@JassyPabst anytime 😉
It’s fantastic song ,good work !!i love guitare but i never the time for learn…😅
Sweet Progression
Thank you 😊
I am a fan . . .💪😎
waou good job
wow just in a hour you progress more than what i have accomplished in 13 years of playing guitar and trying that song for 8 years XD i mean i use it as a practice song for getting better or maybe im just bad, but anyways i just become a huge fan of you JJ, Keep the AWESOME job
That much progress in 1 hour? Incredible!
I think I'd need a year just to match your first attempt haha. I really wish I could sight read tab like that, but my brain isn't fast enough, let alone my fingers. :) It's beautiful but a monster of a song. Those sweeps are nasty! It's hugely impressive to see how much you achieved in just an hour. You did an amazing job! It sounded great. \m/ Your lead skills have progressed so much recently. I'd love to see a part 2. I have no doubt you'll absolutely nail it.
I know right? My mouth was hanging open in astonishment during those sweeps! Jassy is a guitar goddess!!!
Wow !
i love your 1 hour progress canon rock .👍
I ' m also learn that .
Your playing is awesome. 👍
I'm also learn that music by heart . But now , i got only intro part . 😁
I can't remember the whole song . I learned slowly . 😫
smashed it
Pretty talented🤟🤟🤟
Thank you 🤟
And that's what means to be an artist, a music lover
You play how I practice I would definitely be more horrible at this song lol good job girly
Cliffs of Dover would be interesting too ;-) Nice job!
very good work! :metal:
Thank you =)
the second part is way more crazy than part 1
Holy shit you are learning fast , i need way more than an hour for just a few parts of this , i never tried it , maybe i give it a shot , it looks fun to play and also might be a good part to includ into the practise routine . The tempo yeah thats the most toughest part , brain wants to play fast but the fingers need to catch up haha , slowed down practise is the most painfull but also the most effective one , metal on \m/
But good news is this song matches the moment. thank you Jassy
=D
