  • @squidcaps4308
    @squidcaps4308 Před rokem +5

    Is Kimi a legend? Yeah... one of the biggest natural talents the sport will ever see. He did not practice or train much, he just went on with it. One of those drivers that can drive every other car around him and his own, and all of that talent came naturally. Between junior karting and F1 he had 23 races. No one has managed to do the same. He came to the sport with a special trial license since he had to few open wheel races in his career. He came in 6th in his first race.. with a dog of a car..
    His main flaw was that he did not train much.. but instead enjoyed life to the fullest but by doing that he has had a wonderful life where he was doing what he loved without losing anything in the process. Alonso.. came to the sport at the same time as Kimi but has sacrifices his personal life for it. He came in 3rd last race so.. yeah, he also "has it", and two championships to prove it, and bunch of other top series trophies as well. One of the best drivers in the world, at Hamilton, Verstappen caliber.
    They are also part of the "old guard", from the era when radio was not published, so they have always been a bit different, there is no filter.

  • @xxx_phantom_xxxw_t_a9479

    Hello from Switzerland, yes, observing the times, even the sector times, of the direct competitors is very important for the teams, because you can use it to come up with certain strategies (earlier/later tire changes). In addition, of course, if you should change to rain tires or from rain tires to dry tires or another (harder/softer) set of tires. I'm assuming that the teams can still see a lot further from the times, but that's the more important points.
    The conversations on the team radio are always informative, interesting or funny. But they're probably the longest conversations you've had with Kimi Raikkonen. Kimi is certainly a legend too, you know he can drive (he's also a passionate rally driver) but his interviews (extremely short, dry and to the point) make him utterly legendary (if you watch it I think so iconic 👍 ).

If you ever get the opportunity to attend any of the races then don't hesitate, its on a whole other level.

As a fan I always look forward to when they come home to the UK at Silverstone its truly an event not to miss and I hope you get to watch a race in person one day. 4:58 “not pushing him into the wall” 😂. To explain the guy who “pushed” him in the wall was using the correct racingline. As a driver you want to have the fasted line possible within the limits as this makes you go faster around the track. The guy who pushed him into the wall hit the apex.
    Apex or “clipping point” means you have the right line into the corner. You lose the least amount of time while hitting the Apex, if you don’t hit it you’ll loose more time and if someone is right behind you it could also cost you a place.

    Some explanations, in the racing track there's straigh line end with some zigzag curve called chicane that's drivers need to slow down and following the zigzag line, for some safety reason. Palmer obviously cut that said chicane, go straight and by doing so, overtook Fernando so that was illegal move so he got 5 second penalty for not following the rule. (He can got away with that move if he give Fernando that position back by letting him pass.)

    Favour, you need to watch the race today in Saudi - Verstappen in 15th fighting his way up with Ferrari fighting up too from 12th with Leclerc, on a crash-prone circuit. And all 42/43 years of Fernando Alonso on the front row of the grid with Checo (the Spanish speaking front row - Mexico (P1 - Checo Perez) vs Spain (P2 - Fernando Alonso). Watch the whole race to get a sense of strategy, why it matters, how hard it is to overtake, and how well Max and Leclerc can do from those low grid postions. Piastri for McLaren did a good job too in a pretty shitty car, he's P8 on the grid. It'll be a fun watch at 6pm CET so in the US 12 midday EST. You won't regret it :)

  • @StefanVeenstra

    There's sporting rules, driving rules, technical rules and many more rules that make up the Formula. (That's what the F refers to in these sports. GP2 used to be what is now F2, a junior class to the F1 grid with slower cars)
    Because of these rules and sometimes the ambiguity of them makes drivers and teams try to pressure stewards (referees) through the radio into punishing opponents who might have broken a rule (like leaving the track and gaining an advantage). And sometimes to trick other teams into doing things not beneficial to them.
    It's that part of the sport that creates these hilarious radio conversations.
    5 seconds is a lot when considering these drivers go for the thousandth of a second. It can put you way down the results if handed at the end of the race.

    The 5 second penalty you compared to a NBA technical happened because the driver, Palmer, cut the chicane (corner) and went off the track to get ahead of Fernando Alonso. If you pass someone by going off the track, it is a penalty. In this case Palmer was given 5 seconds. Alonso was on the radio complaining that it was a joke because he felt it should be a bigger penalty. I hope that clears it up.

    You can put CZcams in the search box, for example "Best of Kimi Räikkönen" and make your own conclusion whether he is a legend or not. And because your keyboard probably doesn't have Umlauts, you can copy the name from the previous sentence.😉

    the arguably best racing in the world with maybe 40 racers (with the ones than can take over the seat of the main driver if needed to). So much money put in to a car... they had to restrict it when it whent to over 120 mills a car (they have two for each team). They get about to 2 and 5 G forces in every corner and when braking for one hour and a half. I know now why they have special training gear for the neck muscles etc... it is just insane ! I am 87 kilos and they could lift me up just with their neck !

    "Chicane", not chicken! It means a zig zag in the track. The driver cut the corner so has to give up any positions he gained. The "five seconds" means a driver got a penalty for doing an illegal manoeuvre - next time they go into a pit stop to change tyres they have to sit in the car for five seconds before the tyres can be changed. Ten or 15 second penalties aren't uncommon, so five seconds is just a small slap on the wrist. And yes Fernando Alonso and Kimi Raikkonen are legends :) Saudi Arabia GP tonight... tight twisty track - should be fun!

    F1 drivers are the best of the best, and these teams run billion dollar budgets. Threes at least 10 guys "on the wall" all monitoring different aspects of the car and/or the race so they know exactly whats going on, everywhere, all the time.

    1:01 that’s the biggest meme in F1 history and Alonso doesn’t do the radio as part of the show like Riccardio but it comes natural.
    The 5 seconds “joke bit” is that Palmer only got a 5 second penalty for cutting the chicane and Fernando could not get past.

  • @andreasthiemke9520
    @andreasthiemke9520 Před 9 měsíci

    4:08 So what happened was Palmer cut a corner and got a position out of it, which is very against the rules. He got 5 seconds penalty for that, which the drive who lost the position was not very happy with, since 5 seconds might mean nothing if he finishes more than 5 seconds ahead of the next car, meaning he essentially cheated and didn't get penalized really.
