I saw George about 15 years ago at a dive bar in Bakersfield, CA. The man played to 50 people like he was playing to 50,000. Incredible show! Nothing but respect for George Lynch.
I want to see Lee, DeMartini, and Lynch do one more instructional video or even a CZcams channel where they break down their solos and show the correct way to play them, once and for all. It would be a historical document.
There are certain guitarists who's tone are so original you can tell who's playing after a few notes, George has always been one of them, great guitarist
George has put out some amazing stuff in his career; people are drawn to his tone and his leads because they are not a race of scales and arpeggios but truly beautiful phrases that combines technique and coolness. say what want here but I'm glad he still enjoys playing and I know he gets nervous in these environments; hence the drinking perhaps? nothing can tarnish what he's already done and I wish him all the best going forward; not at his best here but he's still got alot in the tank;
that situation is always a pain in the ass for every musician: standing back to the wall with a bad sound .and the people standing 3 feet away starring at you!
Even just watching how George Lynch moves his hands, holds the pick and his facial expressions is fascinating. You can see the intensity and accuracy flow.

Lynch and Vai are just at the top for me. Composition and shred adds accent when necessary. Lynch writes some of the coolest solo phrases ive ever heard.

Fantastic playing from Mr Scary.He never plays it safe,always going for more. I've always thought of Lynch as more of a jazz guy in a rock setting. That is why I consider him superior to other top players in the genre because they don't improvise as much, where as Lynch is seemingly always on that creative edge.

Vai is about the only comparison, with similar abstract taste in chord structure, flaring leads, and their incognito, blend in with the regular dude, style. Randy was a diatonic writer, disciplined. Few comparisons there. I was in Leesburg 2 days ago, all I could think about was Randy, and Delores... and my Dad.

How many players drifted off into the never from his era..meanwhile he just put out 6 diverse CD,s in last 3-4 yrs...juggling different projects,each requiring its own style,not to mention remembering all the new material n older..legend man..a true legend.Was my hero in 80s and now.At these namm shows he tends to play a bit busy n thats cause its one long improv solo.
Best all around guitar player left from that era. Love him or not, each project he takes on shows off another side of his playing. And somehow he just keeps getting better with age.

I've been friends with the guy who makes it for years. His name is John Metz. It's one of his side projects. The guy is hella talented himself on the guitar and managed to get the MAN to take his amp with him.

What some people need to remember is when it comes to writing and recording George is on the money bigtime. KXM and T&G being great examples .Live playing when compared to many , George is nowhere near as clean these days that`s true ( the gig he did with Gilbert and Kotzen is a good example), but think on this. When did they last write a world wide platinum hit?.. When did they write tracks used in movies, or still played 30 years on? Gilbert as great as he is, has a very very short resume of hits, and Kotzen who is ridiculously talented both as a player and a singer is the same, so give the guy a break. Listen to the intro track from his REH dvd and tell me if that`s not as good as anything you have heard from other big names..His history alone deserves some respect.

Dokken's song "Bullets to Spare" may not the toughest song (even I can play it) but it's one the coolest in my opinion.
