Most of us never give a second thought to how everyday items can be so complex and intricate. That is a cool hat. Loved the Pendleton Native American designs for as long as I can remember. Great build. Fantastic video!
Thank you so much Tom!
A ton of my friends would kill to find a hat like that in some thrift store, cool stuff man!
Haha thank you! Much love ;)
Great job Miles. I love how the Pendelton fabric turned out.
You deserve a way bigger following with how quality your content is.
Thank you, that means alot!
wes008 Agreed!!
Thank you it really means a lot
Make With Miles I hit you up on IG... Would go make hats for purchase?
Thank you soo much🤙 so overwhelming to start learning!! But you are helping with these tutorials
Hey Miles! This was a great video and a really good tutorial. I hadn’t seen anyone use a bias tape maker to feed directly into a sewing machine before, and I loved your little paper jig to feed the material around the foam under the presser foot. Those two ideas are really getting my brain ticking! I found your channel through Laura Kampf, and I’m seriously impressed. I enjoyed your choice of music and calm, clear narration too.
Hi Magnolia, glad you liked the video! Both of those techniques worked surprisingly well and I will definitely be using them more. Thank you again ;)
What a great video. Thank you for being so in depth and explaining perfectly. I will hopefully try to make this following your brilliant tutorial
Everything about this video is incredible. I loved the music, the videography and of course how the hat turned out!
Thank you so much! It means a lot, not often do people notice how much time I spend editing/filming so I really appreciate it!.
Looks very professional! Love the content
This is great! You’re very talented!
Excellent design!
Very cool hat. Nice build.
You're so lucky to have access to those machines! I would love a binding machine like that. I'm going to sew a hat but I may have to sew right sides together on the brim- which won't look as professional.
Nice build and tutorial!
really wonderful job miles ❤👏🏼👏🏼
Excellent job in this hat, dude! Thanks for breaking this down and making it easy to understand.
Here is my PSA for everyone who does not live near them: if you call Pendleton Mills they will sell you scraps for a good price. At least they did pre-lockdown. I have something similar to this one and you know I am going to be using it for a cap now.
This tutorial was much better than the original Properfit Clothing one. Great job!
Duuuuuuuuuuude!!!! I really want a hat like that! well freaking done!!!!!
Thank you soo much yooo!
nice work Miles, I am sure your Dad is proud of your work as well, neat hat!
Thank you Mark, I definitely love sewing with my dad!
i like the green fabric.
Dude your video is awesome the guitar instrumentals are godly hope I can make my first five panel soon I’ve learned how to do the outer structure just need to learn the sweat band Strap and brim
I got to your channel thanks to your plywood guitar - which is amazing, but I'm blown away by the fact that you are also so skilled at sewing. Well done!
Wow, thank you!
Palomino blackwing! Fantastic pencils. And the hat looks great.
I love Blackwings! Thanks for watching.
Thanks for the video! Your cap Turned out great 🙌🏼
Thanks for watching my video ;)
Ive never taken fashion seriously as a 23 yr old male but this gets me excited
Haha that is awesome to hear. Yeah I'm not a huge fashion guy but stuff like this gets me more interested as well ;)
You earned a subscriber out of me for the simple fact that you use a Blackwing pencil in this video.
Haha, I love blackwings! Thanks for the sub, it means alot ;)
Make With Miles are you subscribed to their volumes? They come out with some neat stuff every quarter.
Looks great!
Thanks Fabio ;)
This was cool. I wish I had access to equipment like that.
This is such a good idea and it looks great! The paper guide is fantastic.
Thanks Sharon, the paper guide was very helpful ;)
Dude, you are a boss.
Haha thank you!!
And after I finished making the hat... "This hat is available for $200". Really nice!
This is awesome, thank u so much
lol I was wondering why this was in your playlist
damn, your content is so cool!! i enjoyed so much
Very cool!
Thanks Ned ;)
Solid video
That sir is one tidy cap!
Insane brooooo☠️
One other thing that pencil thing is amazing
Nice!!!
Nice man! I wanna make it too
Thanks, you should!
great video , cheers :)
great video! been looking through your channel and loving the videos
what would you say the difficulty level of a sewing project like this is? I've been very interested in making my own hat, but only have a few basic projects experience, I wouldn't mind messing up once or twice considering it doesn't use that much fabric.
Thanks
Awesome bro 🫀
Nicely done, sir. I wonder how hard it would be to make a corduroy floppy hat? I used to have one back in the day. It was lost during an outing to the beach in St. Augustine 25 years ago. I’ve been searching for one ever since. Have you thought about doing your own custom interior for your car?
Nice Hat
Cool song by the way
Dude that’s awesome! Nice work buddy! Question, can you post a decent entry level sewing machine that can do all that? What machine did you use? DEFINITELY want to try this now.
It's as good as any I've seen.. And it's at the moment.. Unique.. One of a kind.. But I can see you making a limited run..
What size/type of needle would you use to see the brim lines? I have a typical plastic brim. Also, what material specifically did you use for the brim insert this video?
Nice job. I make hats too. But I am wondering which type of foam did you use for the brim? If you don't mind me asking. Thanks in advance.
Muito bom sou brasileiro e quero aprender fazer os meus ❤🇧🇷🔥
As someone who works primarily on paper to take notes on what to do today, i cant believe i didnt think of the pencil holder sooner lmao.
Any Shmeeda fam here?
Hi. Love your work !! What kind of sewing machine do I need for caps ? One love outta Germany
Danke, es ist selten, dass ich mein Deutsch üben kann. Sie brauchen keine superspezifische Nähmaschine. eine Heimnähmaschine funktioniert einwandfrei. ;)
Where is the pattern for this 5 panel hat? Great video!
Hey miles! What do u call that fabric on front panel and the black one u put on buttom side of the brim
you mentioned that you would add a link to the material used for the brim but I don't see it in the description. Anyone know where I can get stiff hat brim material?
I am looking at Peltex from Pellon. www.pellonprojects.com/?s=Peltex&submit=
I took apart an old snap back and it had chipboard for the brim, but I want something that will not get wrecked if it gets wet. I also read someone is using plastic like the kind used for milk/water jugs, but I want something I can shape cos I am picky about how my brim looks. Pellon is sold a lot of places, your best bet would be a craft store unless you want to buy a full bolt off Amazon. Hope this helps!
Hi Miles! You need an industrial sewing machine to do this ? or a little one will work anyways?
You can definitely do it with a home sewing machine!
Hi Miles, nice tutorial! What is the name of the thing you use to bind the edge of the brim? tia
It's called gross grain ribbon (pronounced grow grain). You can find it at Jo anns or any other fabric store
fucking love this man keep it up
What’s a good but cheap sewing machine to use for making these hats.
Where can I buy one
hello how much this tutorial of yours, there is no way to make the pattern available for download
hi, what is that 3:33 and the sewing on 5:00 is called?
Can you make a newsboy cap.
What make and model of sewing machine is this?
What are the measurements on the ribbon
Hello miles how do I Get the Patterns
how to buy a five panel pattern?
"You can also use a home sewing machine"
*As someone who's scared of loud noises and therefore only sews by hand imma just take that as a challenge*
Hey, the video says "This live stream recording is not available."
Yes, I'm aware; some sort of glitch when uploading, it will be up tomorrow ;)
@@MakeWithMiles Ok, Awesome! Look forward to it!
Fuuuuk it’s greatfuelnessessery!!!!!!!!
what are the chances I can commission you to make me one? I have fabric in mind I would send you!
Young man I wish you could teach other people how to behaveior age and getting involved in stuff like you it's not about who you are whether you're gay straight pink purple none of that matters matters it's just too many young kids getting killed I wish they could take a look at what you're doing thank you son
You made it look too easy
Yep! But without a link for the patern...
There is nothing to like.
Dude the pattern is literally linked in the description 😂
Yeah, it's totally not hard to make a hat and stuff like this when you have a double needle on the freaking tape machine and awesome sewing machines
I just made this exact hat following these instructions on home sewing machine. A double needle attachement is like 5$ for it...
@@xrayrunner3156 yeah but double needle attachment leave a weird like knot on the back side since it's not a true double bobbin
@@xrayrunner3156 and if you're not working with like a heavy duty or like an old ass sewing machine, a newer singer simple won't make it through the brim material and if you double up your tape and you're using like denim, it barely makes it through three folds of denim, but I have an old Montgomery Ward and it looks like a boat anchor that'll go through fucking plastic it's much easier though if you have multiple machines already set up everything you need a taping machine double needle walking foot and then you know you can whip up a hat in like five minutes not literally but pretty close once you got your patterns cut out I guess if you got a cricut it would make it a lot quicker
That’s true! Haha will have to do for now..
@@xrayrunner3156 same but I did get to make like three hats. So far off of this video took me like four hours for the first one now but it was mad fun I love these five panel hats. I bought a coal jasper for winter because it's like straight up like a Patagonia nano puff so I went to the Goodwill and bought a little kids nano puff (not Patagonia ) and cut it up and made a hat LOL
Cool. But too much work.
