I just love you for consistently doing a HD zoom in shot so we can see your real skin. The closer I get to 40, the less easy it is to keep in mind that skin looks like skin, it has oil, texture, freckles, pores and it's beautiful. I appreciate you for zooming in and for not talking about make up in terms of flaws and ageing.

I am a lazy makeup gal and the reasons why I do not use liquid foundations is because I have extremely extremely oily skin and I can't be bothered running around trying to wet/ squeeze a sponge. My trick of making a powder foundation look like skin is to wear a soft matte zinc based sunscreen underneath as a primer to give that lit from within glow and top it off with a quick spritz of Mac finishing spray. The zinc based sunscreen controls my oil a bit while giving that soothing glow while keeping my skin hydrated. Xx from Australia

I’ve worn bare minerals original mineral foundation since 2004. It is supposed to be buffed onto the skin with a dense brush and using a fraction of the amount you demonstrated. I love your videos and appreciate what you bring. Bare minerals can give a most natural look but it can’t be applied as demonstrated here to achieve it.

I was thinking the same thing. Love Zabrena's videos but I just thought, "woah, too much powder on the brush." Bare Minerals is meant to be light layers and building gradually. That being said, I'm curious to try this method.

The trick to BareMinerals loose powder is Buff, buff, buff! And to use a good quality brush. Zabrena has applied it as a beginner might. I've been a BareMinerals girl for over 20 years and have never applied it the way she did here. Also, I spray setting spray or just plain Rosewater on a sponge and pat it on very lightly to set the powder foundation.

@@megapedia97 I don’t know. When Bare minerals belonged to Bare Ecentuals (not misspelled) they only had the original line which was all mineral. No talc or powder. They had no liquid foundations, pressed foundation or pressed eyeshadows. They were completely against all other versions of make up product. I don’t mean they condemned them, just touted them as containing things not good for the skin. I have just about every eyeshadow color and blush they ever made and it’s upward of 650 pieces. I’m 63 and my skin looks like I’m in my 40s. I attribute this to switching to this product in late 2003/early 2004.

I find when I apply the concealer, it always accentuates whatever texture/dryness is there, no matter how diligent I am with moisturizer. I now either use nothing or just an eye brightener but would love some tips!

I'm glad I found your video! I am having an issue with underusing my makeup products so I will be downsizing and trying to use powder products so that I can get maximum usage for more shelf-stable products. Even products that are 18 months for expiration date barely get used by me. An eyeshadow palette for me, with regular sanitizing, can last me well over 4 years without irritation.
I'm in my late 20s, so most Gen Z/Millenials tutorials use a lot of products than I'm comfortable with. I can achieve most of what I like with a damp brush - no reason my skin cannot do the same with returning to mineral powders even though they have fallen out of trend.

Something I also find really useful to keep an even coverage is to make sure you have the product on the sponge or brush before blending the same product out on the skin. It keeps the sponge or brush brush picking up your product causing patchiness… I learned this trick from Marlena of Makeup Geek and it has saved me a lot of bad makeup days where a sponge especially picks up your makeup and then you can never lay the product back down in an area after it leaves a bald patch. It’s the most annoying thing ever and most of you will know exactly what I’m talking about. When you put product on product it marries together vs putting a tool with no product on a wet face, it picks up the product, never laying it down evenly again in some areas. This happens most often with the sponge. The damp sponge pulls up your makeup and then is like, ya I’m gonna keep that.😂
