He's completely right. The bullshit is truly stifling, and we need to make sure people see it in others and see it in themselves.

That is wrong, but somewhat right.
They don't write them in their entirety, but are still very much involved in the process. They don't just get hand the State of the Union the day before the address and are told to 'just read the damn thing'.

And, you can't criticize a president for not writing his own speeches when NO presidents write their own speeches. Pretty straightforward

Funny isn't it, how someone so nervous on the podium can write such brilliant speeches! (:

BRAVO!! PS - look below for the remnants of the BS culture that Jon talks about in his speech. Can't wait for that to become history!

Like a good speechwriter, he wrote a great speech! And he read the whole thing. NOT a good presenter... he looked down at his paper the whole time! But it was a good speech, I loved it!

eh.... I didn't really care about that... I found him to be quite personable... we had Nancy Pelosi speak at our graduation... I find this speech to be way better, laughter and all

clearly a hilarious guy, but it's also clear that he is funnier as a writer and not a speaker. This would be 100x funnier if he didn't laugh every time he said something funny. Before you disagree with me, just imagine this speech with him straight-faced throughout. Fucking hilarious!

I think Clinton did write many of his own. But he was very much an exception. You're right, as a general rule, presidents never write their speeches

Obama does write a lot of his own speeches. And all politicians use speechwriters. Stop being a nitwit.

Er, intellectual property is not the lifeblood of the "free" market. They are a sign that human beings trading in the market are UNFREE.

  • @sozo45

Not to mention he talks about bs in speech but he wrote speeches for Obama and Hilary...a little hypocritical.
