I was fortunate to hang out with Bruce and Molo when they were playing local gigs in Virginia in early 1978. I will never forget the first time I heard them. They played pop, rock, funk, jazz, and originals. I said to myself if Bruce didn't make it big there was something wrong with the music business. Eight years later he won a Grammy for best new artist. He has managed to forge out a stellar career doing things his way. Not too many can say that.
@@jamestyler167 Molo played drums with Bruce for 20 years or so. Musically Bruce I think went in a different direction. Molo has had a steady career playing with a variety of artists.
As a 66 year old, many songs have been embedded in my brain. Bruce and the crew have found a way back many times! Such a comforting, energizing and soulful sound💥 Thanks Bruce💫💢
I found Bruce early in his career and just like you he has become part of the fabric of my life! Just saw him again, this time in in Flagstaff Az. On the anniversary of Jerry’s passing. Bruce is such a fun and smart musician. My life would be much less without him! See you at the next show!!
Humanity. Charity. Community. Generosity. Co-Support. Love. Connection. Virtuosity. That stuff stays w/ me. It's a great, and amazing addiction. I've worked on guitars for lots of world known folks. Seen them play. Bruce's band has SO much fun ... so we all have fun and we get inspired to connect and be positive to each other. All that Bruce is about is inclusion, creativity and open-hearted respect for fellow players and fellow men and women. Astounding music. Astounding human being. Positive force on the planet.
I've been playing piano since age 6. Took private lessons for 10 years growing up. Played in several bands over the decades. Currently doing Jim Brickman style solo gigs. I've covered Elton John songs as well as numerous keyboard and piano based poplar groups from Van Halen to Lynard Skynard. Bruce is one of the only artists that I couldn't do well enough to cover. He is absolutely amazing. And incredibly fast. Mad respect for him and his unmatched skills.
Was in college in the area in the early 90s and saw Bruce live numerous times. His folks and friends would show up, what an honest expression of passion, every time, never for the money. Inspired me forever.
I went down to Virginia Beach ocean front one night with some friends and Stop by Peabody there was a side door behind Peabody walked in and he was playing on the piano in the Round. Peaple in the Upper level balcony clapping and singing along with Bruce. I think he still does pop-ups but I'm not as lucky these days. {smiling} ... I heard him sing and know right away he was going to make it one day. This was back in the late 70's
lve been metal rock chaser but now i love that bruce play so nice and soulful piano sentences at his albums and also at don Henley, David foster...... thank you so much
This is my hero and musical mentor and after all these years and our history together nothing beats this period of hooks, musicality and band connection he had. It has forever left an imprint on my life!
What a great set! I've become obsessed with Bruce Hornsby, and especially the Range in the past five or so years. George's guitar tone is awesome! Such a fun show to see.
Bruce Hornsby reminds me of Stevie Ray Vaughn in that tone control is as natural as breathing for him. So many happy hours over the years listening to his music. A story teller par excellence.
For whatever reason I bought a Bruce Hornsby CD a few weeks ago. Then this week I realized I started university 30 years ago this month. Bruce Hornsby’s was the soundtrack of my youth at that stage of my life. I get nostalgic hearing these tunes. Thanks for sharing this video.
I can't tell you what joy this has brought me tonight, this the 9th day of May, 2023. Exrateresstial talent, extraordinary gifts and flowing thru it an underlying passion for what each and everything each of these performers bring to the stage. Certainly gifts bestowed by God or whatever Higher Power you choose to believe in!
Saw them in Albuquerque around this time... they did an outstanding 3 hr show... it was a really dead room acoustically. But by the 3rd hr he had the crowd going nuts!!! Bruce is just best... from old to new.
Fantastic. I stood in the Front row. Living Colour was the opening act, and it was my second concert overall. Cologne, Live music Hall. I saw Bruce serval times but this only with Band. Genius.
There are only two reasons to listen to one of the most accomplished singing piano players perform a fusion of all musical styles in a unique, recognizable style: Bruuuce and Hornby! 🥰
Bruuuuuuuce! My main man as not just a pianist but as a total music maker. I can never get enough of anything he's done musically, from his beginnings to now. Just an amazingly gifted music man in every way.
Let it here by be declared that we are listening to one of the living Greatest Piano Players that has or ever will Live.. Consummate Mastery of Musicianship and Bruce Hornsby brings it out in those people that are drawn to him What an incredible Ensemble!!!! My ears and soul having a peak experience in Unison. What A Performance!!! Thank you thank you thank you!
I feel like this is The Range at their peak. By this time, the arrangements had loosened up a bit and become rawer and funkier (compare The Way It Is and Look Out Any Window to earlier performances, they are on fire here). They were a tight, well-oiled machine. This is probably my favorite live era of Hornsby's career.
Definitely... by this time in the earily 90’s when The Ranges third album came out they had a much looser feel. I guess Bruce stood back after this album and though I took this band as far as it can possibly go. deciding to go solo in 93 with Harbor Lights. I like the piano and sync on Fields of Grey still has The Range feel to it but slowly I lost interest after that when his band became an after though.
Comparing to when i saw him aug 26 2011, here hes so young and just bursting with new ideas,in 2011 he so in control and comfortable either tour hes always amazing
Mi adolescencia en un instante remeciendo la casa con sus éxitos en aquellos años , y este concierto aún con los músicos originales un placer a mis oídos de este gran cantante pianista de los 80' y aun vigente
I am fortunate to have been backstage at a few shows of Bruce’s and I was musically pumped as a musician , and Psychologically pegged to observe the terrific dynamic of his band and their leader . When Mr. Ricky Skaggs got involved , and made music with Bruce , he rose to the top piano player heard in this house . Ricky doesn’t think he’s from this planet here . Hey ! We still Bluegrassed him Anyway ! Thank You Bruce !
One of the best shows I ever saw. ´95 or ´96 Bruce and band doing the Hot House album tour at the House of Blues on Sunset Blvd in LA. Shame there´s not much quality live footage on CZcams. I will carry your Mandolin rain with me all the way. Thank you Mr. Hornsby.
Saw him Valley Forge Music Fair Philadelphia and had backstage pass.after the show. He did a few Dead songs and talk about his love for Jerry and talk on the phone with him a couple of days before his passing. He was in good spirits. I meet Bruce a few times over the years and he as down to earth as anyone. Glad that Bruce done it his way and never change.
Wow!!! That waSO awe inspiring. Just how songs are supposed to be moving soul stirring and all the emotions in between. Thank you guys and gals. I felt like a new woman with a much more soulful attitude than when I began listening. Love Yall Denise B 🌷🎶❤️🌷👌✌️😍

I have this concert on VHS but Im so glad you posted it online. Thanks for doing so! The classy musicality of everything Hornsby does is captured here for all to enjoy. What do Hornsby and Fagan have in common? A love of improvisation, and the elevation of popular music genres to levels of undeniably original and exciting ART.
Thank you for posting this. I've listened to it many, many times. Bruce Hornsby is a remarkable talent. I've loved him for years and years. And what a drummer John Molo is. Very tasty grooves.

A prodigy at the piano... Mr. Bruce Hornsby.
best band of the 80s by a mile
The two lady back-up singers are amazing--on point!

What a great feeling seeing Bruce always happy to play and his musicians happier than him.... it's a refreshing sensation. Thanks Bruce.
@Sadowsky1965 bruce new stuff last few albums been disappointing. No more piano riffs and too produced.I wish he'd do a range reunion album
