it's not a dirge, and when it's sung ***properly*** (hint: have a look at the proms) it's pretty rousing. this was just over the top, weird, and excessive

I really can't understand how some people can find this performance disrespectful (or worse things I've read in some comments). I mean, I'm not British but if I was I would feel so proud of this performance, I almost got goosebumps. He has an amazing voice and this was one of the most passionate interpretations of an anthem I've ever seen. Well done Sam

Playing the national anthem and "remixing" the F1 theme in it is kinda disrespectful to the original. It's like those American "stars" butchering their own national anthem. Sure, it's not Fergie at the NBA Finals level but still.
I'm British and this is the best version of our usually boring anthem I've ever heard. This should be the standard!

I like it! It suits the F1 vibe. I dunno, maybe the atmosphere is quite serious, and Sam Ryder looks a bit hilarious, the contrast makes the picture a bit awkward. but if you only listen to the music, it’s actually good.

The fans at Silverstone, and the F1 fans watching around the world on TV loved it.

I was decently suprised when they got a guy with an electric guitar to play the anthem instead of a band like usual BUT his use of the f1 theme at the end and just the use of an electric guitar for the anthem in general was just incredible
