Yeah, me too. I saw the movie a couple of times before finding out there was a series. And yet I never truly connected both when I was 6. It was like Batman was Batman and he was in different things.
Same!😊 We had it on VHS. It was one of my favorite things, because I really liked Batman but we didn't watch any movies from Keaton to Bale growing up.
It is great that they gave this movie it's own Identity by giving it a soundtrack all it's own and not using the main theme of the TV show in the opening credits. Excellent job by Nelson Riddle
I have so much nostalgia for this opening. I was blown away by all the colors and the music and seeing Batman and Robin on screen. Really takes you back doesn't it? I'd love experience that again
I was so into the series that I had adapted Frank Gorshin (The Riddler) laugh when I was younger. Nowadays...my laugh evolved into that of Muttley the dog from Wacky Races.
One of the most amazing opening credits I've ever seen. It's only flaw is when they show Robin in a reverse image. I actually prefer this movie version over the TV show version!!
Now this is good stuff, the music and the visuals. Fun and colorful. Great dedication sentiment which establishes the mood instantly. Love the individual musical motifs used for each villain (their themes, straight from the TV show).
Depending on which Joker in question, I'd either be happy to see him too, or I'd make a mental note to eye down both the emergency exits in case someone starts laughing a little too hard.
@zt1053 : She could have been. However, from what I heard, she was busy shooting another movie called Mckenna's Gold at the time this Batman movie was being made. That's the reason I heard that she was never in the movie.
I also was introduced to this when abc aired it on a Sunday afternoon and I enjoyed it. I also read the comic books of Batman and Robin on occasion. Even to this day, I still buy and read Batman.
Fun Fact: this is the only DC movie that is not made by Warner Brothers, this movie came out in 1966, Warner Brothers didn't own DC at the time until 1969 & do you guys want to know what studio made this movie? 20th Century Fox. This will be one of the movies I will love to get on Disney+. HBOMax has the movies based on Blade by New Line Cinemas so why not 1966 Batman on Disney's platform?😁
I don't know if you have taken a closer look, but the name of the parent company of DC Comics at that point in time was still National Periodical Publications (they changed its name to DC Comics, Inc. at some point in 1976)
Fun fact the story for the movie was supposed to been the story for the pilot episode but they decided to see how many people would watch it and the rest is history📺📺📺📺
@@firebird6522 Thanks. Throughout the 1970's period as a little kid, I watched Batman The Movie(1966) on ABC-TV while watching the repeats of the series on NYC's WPIX-TV Channel 11. Later in during the 80's as a teenager, I even watched the repeats on WNEW-TV Metromedia Channel 5 before it became WNYW-TV FOX 5.
@@errolthomas9426 Glad you got to see my response. I was a little hesitant to look up the dates at first as your original post was made nearly a year ago and I was wondering if you'd get an alert for an older post. But apparently you did, so glad to help. My local paper has digital archives going back to 1901 so it makes it easy to look up things like this. I didn't see it on ABC in 1971 (as far as I know), but I would always watch reruns on KHTV here in Houston. A friend of mine used to have a toy Batboat like in the film.
This movie is based on the Batman television series, and the first full-length theatrical adaptation of the DC Comics character Batman. Released by 20th Century Fox instead of Warner Bros. Pictures, the film starred Adam West as Batman and Burt Ward as Robin. The film hit theaters two months after the last episode of the first season of the television series. The film includes most members of the original TV cast, with the exception of Julie Newmar, who played Catwoman in the first two seasons; for the movie, she was replaced by Lee Meriwether.
I feel like the guy in thr coat, if its anyone. It is deadshot. He was made in 1950 with a coat and a hat very simliar. He kinda looked like a magician
I feel like the remch coat man is Joe chill. He existed at the time of the movie. And the guys face looks like a face he could and has had. He has no constent design however. So it all fits him as the suspect.
This opening makes me feel 5 years old again
Carlos2739 😂
Carlos2739 bruh u asking a 1 year old comment
In 3rd Grade my teacher actually played it on VHS to tell us about onomatopoeia
Was twice that age when I saw the movie (attending the premier in Austin).

Dedicated to Adam West

Would have loved this if they put it in the series
I honestly Agree
@@harrismiller1948 I Agree with you actually
Actually they change the music of the batmobile from what it was in the to the series theme song in the movie
Before I heard the movie theme, I didn't realize that each of the great villains had their own musical cue.
Of course every Batman baddie has a music score how else can the viewer know who Batman is dealing with in every episode of the show🃏🐧❓🐈
It’s called a leitmotif, and I really appreciate that they gave each villain one. Even those that were a one-off character
they don't, though.
I always liked the Penguin's theme the best~!
@@Nicholas32906 Ah, an educated man. Yes you're quite right. Newer soundtracks need to go back to this.
I have so much nostalgia for this opening. I was blown away by all the colors and the music and seeing Batman and Robin on screen. Really takes you back doesn't it? I'd love experience that again
I think that's what director Joel Schumacher was trying to capture in the films Batman Forever and Batman & Robin. I didn't care too much for them.
The music was spot on!
Don't remember this, But the music is Awesome
R.I.P, Adam West (Batman), Cesar Romero (the Joker), Burgess Meredith (the Penguin) and Frank Gorshin (the Riddler).
So many died WHAT!!!

I like that they didn't use the same theme from the show. This score slaps
RIP Adam West
I miss watching this movie airing on ABC-TV during the 70's
I honestly wish I could go back in time just to see movies like this in theaters when they were new!
i remember owning this movie on DVD and my mom and dad letting me watch this.
Ah my oldest memory with Batman was that damn exploding shark
I’m feeling a Noir Westside story. It just seems to have that flavor.
I used to think that this was in the same continuity as the Burton Batman films. Truly magical times.
The best thème version
I grew up in the 90s and seeing this intro brings back fond memories
Saw the film in 1966 in a theater will a bunch of kid cheering for Batman and Robin
I know I will be showing my kid(s) this show and this movie before any other Batmans
oh thats a great idea. hope they like it
well it is the most PG batman movie and some others like the animated ones are like 15
I love how the music and Caesar Romero work together to make the Joker properly menacing here. Remember being wigged out as a kid.
I watched the Batman TV show mainly for Julie Newmar's Catwoman and Yvonne Craig's Batgirl. 😍
Same.
@@BmcC102 Sadly Ms. Craig has since passed away. RIP BATGIRL !!!!!!!

Love this theme!!!
2:05 I AM THE VENGEANCE....I AM BATM....HOLY CRAP ROBIN, YOU ALMOST KILL ME!

Watching Lee Merriweather slither and writhe does something for me.
Very colorful indeed
They should have done a batman beyond with Adam West. Missed opportunity there.
My favorite movie since I was eight years old
This movie and the series rules!
IMO The theme to this movie has a James Bond feel to it
I think it was intentional. This was right in the midst of the explosive Bond mania.
If memory serves, this was my introduction to Batman. I’m glad it was. Nothing against the newer ones, but as the saying goes: “Why so serious?”
Awesome title sequence. I’d like to know the guy’s story who’s running frantically from that spotlight
Davis Phillips, I like to think it’s the Narrator.
That guy running is so hilarious to me!
I wasn't even born when this flick came out what a good movie series.
I actually prefer this theme more than the tv show
Saw this in ‘74 ☝️

Anyone notice that the Catwoman theme has the same “duh-duh-duh-duh” motif as the second, more familiar “Twilight Zone” theme?
