Honestly Wally, you are the BEST! You don’t need fancy videos, your explanations are great.
Glad you like them!
So true what you said about whiskers being so stressful. Thanks for the video
Definitely have to embrace happy accidents when doing whiskers 🤣 thanks you for watching!
It never gets old watching you do the whiskers, love it.

very inspiring, thank you! What do you use for suface/board?
I use a primed wood panel
great job! what did you used to draw the underdrawing before the underpainting?
Thank you!
It depends, for most of my commissioned portraits I use a charcoal transfer for efficiency and accuracy.
For my own personal work I draw by hand and use a Proportional Divider!
Thank you for this demo, just getting into pet portraits myself. Can I ask you how many hours something like this take you on average for this size which looks like a 14 x 11?
Can take anywhere from 6 - 12 hours 😁
Hello again! I hope I’m asking this question correctly. You mention using acrylic as the underpainting. At what point are you transitioning to oil? I understand you using acrylic to “coat” the board, but it looks like you went right into the composition with acrylic.
I stain the canvas and do the underpainting in acrylic, then go in to oils.
Amazing! What brand your brushes are?
Rosemary and Co Ivory long flats
Can you please tell me what painting medium you used.? 🥰🥰🥰
Gamblins solvent free safflower oil
@@LukeDurdin thank you very much for your reply.......I’ll give it a go. 🥰🥰🥰
Hi ,what Kind of Brushes do you use ? They are perfect shape .And cat is so cute and prinzessly❤
I guess they are Rosemary and Co ,or ?

Thank you so much!
@@LukeDurdin thank you for back antworting .

Hi,it is canvas or wood?
Painted on wood 🪵
I want to paint a portrait of my daughter's beloved cat, for her 30th birthday. But all the photos of him, while clear - the light just isn't great. How can I make it look interesting without the plays of light?
it would require a lot of work but it could be done. most likely taking reference photos of cats that are similar to yours then adding your cats characteristics to those references.
Unfortunately I typically avoid these types of commissions so I'm not the best for advice on this subject.
@@LukeDurdinThank you for your reply, that's a great idea. Your work is so beautiful!
Thank you for this great video!
You are so welcome!
