Too late now …
Strength is diversity
Beautiful times we had, i was born in 68 and when we look back it was magic, no one had nothing but everyone looked after each other, the lovely times with Christmas, bonfire night, new year first footing taking the coal in at 12 to see the new year in, every house had a party well into the mornings, you could go in any ones house with a warm welcome, proper Xmas trees up. I could cry how our country has ended up in 2024
@@roberts7961 I feel exactly the same way 😒

What a difference from modern England
I left school in 63. Lovely nostalgic video.
I'm glad that you enjoyed this home movie film.
Who wouldn't want to go back to this. Paradise compared to now.
I would!
The spirit of old England is present everywhere. Thank you for the video.
Yes, I'm glad that you enjoyed this home movie.
I left school in 1963. Lots of memories here. The older buildings were still soot dirty.
This is looking back at what was 'my England'. I was 20 yrs old and nearly married. We had little money but saved hard and lived with my darling Gran until our new little semi was built. Mortgage interest was high then, so my husband worked a lot of overtime. To see this country now breaks my heart. But I do have happy memories of a country I was so grateful to have been born into, felt at home in and felt safe in. Wish I could go back to those times.
Just think, all those kids in the video will be in their late 60's or early 70's by now. Just like me. I was 5 in 1963.
I was 14.
I was 11 in 1963 and living in South Wales. My first visit was a school one as a teenager to see a René Magritte exhibition in the National Gallery or the Tate (can't remember).
Me too😅
How lovely to see London as it should be, nice to see better times to look back on its a shame London will never look this good again the forieners have destroyed London for ever
I was born in 56 and can just about remember this time, The "never had it so good time in UK history, "and a country at peace with its self for the most part.
The real "swinging 60s" where just around the corner and all the things that came with it made sure our lives would never be the same again.
Yes, great times.
Nice to see tall proper Policemen again.
You're lucky to see Policemen of any height on the streets these days!
Can't even find a short policeman these days.
I was born in 51 so I know what it was like, FANTASTIC, I wish I was back there
I was 13 in 1963, and my parents were comfortable with me wandering around central London on my own when we took holidays in Hertfordshire. Not sure I'd copy them with my kids from 90s onwards.
So much better then.

Love those Morris Minors and Minis
Those were the days when we had a car industry!
Multiculturalism definitely wasnt a thing back then, and didnt it look so glorious! 😍
I'm not sure that I would call London Glorious these days!
@@mackenzierough I agree its lost its authenticity, the architecture and history are amazing but without the people its just a shell of its former self, its just a zoo now or a tourist attraction.
Yeah the giant, flashing Coca Cola sign at 4:48 really exemplifies the British Ideal.
And when the Windrush generation came over to drive the buses, do the nursing, get Britain on it’s feet and generally save our dumb white arses.

It certainly has!

I lived and worked in London at this time slot. British people on British streets, not an Arab in sight. No probs except for the C uban crisis. Great images

What a beutiful place to live ,,look at the state of it now ,,a complete shithole ,,even the nice places Kensington ,,Chiswick ,,st johns wood ,,have knife crime,,beggars ,,tough sleepers ,I wish I was young enough to leave ,,
Yes it's very sad indeed!
You mean rough sleeper, not tough . Personally I prefer the term substance addicted tw*t. But I guess not everyone can work in showbiz.
Plus, they no longer have bears or sea lions at London Zoo. Were they on drugs, the animals? Hardly dear fellow.
Look at the police men ,,young fit looking chaps ,,you could rely on these bobbys ,,look at the shit the met take onboard now ,,,fat blokes and girls who couldn’t run 25 yards ,,gays ,,lesbians ,,not sure ,,Africans Indians ,,any old shit
Born in 1960 such lovely memories watching this, had best childhood ever going over the park to play coming home when we were hungry.Christmas and birthday was a wonderful time having couple of friends to tea and a cake.So much respect for our elders and people in authority, feel like the lack of respect is a big issue now.

Very little obesity but lots of people smoking
The widespread smoking partly explains the lack obesity. The other things are no junk foods and take aways/kebab shops, people didn’t rely on cars especially for short journeys, they walked and finally a lot of people did hard manual jobs and didn’t have labour saving devices at home so they were burning a lot calories off daily. xx
Good old days. I got married in 1961 when living in London. How it has changed.
Those were the beautiful days that English people lived in England and were proud of their country. Most of them had fought a war to keep it free. Oh, how beautiful
The Happy Highways where I went and cannot come again……

I was 8 in 63, expect that things may have been just as hard for my late parents with the challenges of the modern day, the film may not have made things easier, depending on what side of society we were on, certainly less complex than 2024 - more challenging times ahead.
When London wasn’t a Dump. 2024 a Dump.
How nice.
Not a single Pret in sight.
The neon advertising signs in Piccadilly Circus were wonderful to see, they often featured as ‘scene setters’ in British movies & TV shows of the 40’s - 50’s - 60’s. All we have there now is a giant LCD display screen, which provides no magic at all!
Watching the films you upload is much more entertaining than watching Netflix Roughie
Thank you Simon.

Didn't we used to own this once upon a time? Before it got taken over and turned into a Shithole by traitors in our own land who sold us down the river!.
Maggie Thatcher began the selling off of everything on the cheap! Now the shit flows down the river.
@@mackenzierough Thats why the real Owners put her in power so she could flog it all off to them.
When the world looked up to England!
They did? Pretty sure the world was paying attention to the Cold War and/or the Space Race between the US and the USSR.
Pretty good rock music from that time though. Still listen to it today.

A time when traffic flowed through the Capital City.
I did not see any obese people
There were people from the Commonwealth, in this video who came here to work and had skills and got on
But like the LEGAL and ILLEGALS mainly young men who will not have skills we want and will work the black economy that are coming here and pay no tax
And even in 63 those who could drive bought a car

Yes, it's called Tower Bridge and it opens up for tall boats to pass under it, it is next to the Tower of London.

WHINE fest coming up.......
It was a grim, dirty city with poverty, smog and ignorance. The food was awful British fare, and foreign tourists didn't come because it was dirty, intimidating, unattractive and unwelcoming. The reputation of British food was a particular turn-off.
We were better off without them and the only tourists and immigrants then were mainly Europeans. It was all the others that have caused all our problems.
This was bad era for Britain, not worthy of 🌈✔
London 2024 = shithole
How sad that the London of this picture has changed into a muslim city. As usual the politicians cocked up didn't they? It will get even worse with Flip Flop and his loonies in charge.
