Many people are asking if the horse felt any pain or discomfort during this. No, the horse doesn't feel any pain whatsoever as this process is same as we humans getting pedicure. The guy who is doing this is clearly experienced in his work and the horse is also smart enough to understand what he's owner is doing to him

"Horseshoes are used to help aid in the durability of the hoof on working horses. The hoof itself is made up of the same stuff as your fingernail, called keratin. However, the hoof has a soft and tender inner part called the frog, that can be injured. The hoof will naturally wear away when horses walk so adding a shoe onto the hoof helps to diminish that and keep the frog in healthy condition." -The more you know. It's because the horse is intelligent and trained. They have been shoed before and rewarded greatly for being cooperative so they learned to be that way. They've learned that they feel much better afterward with trimmed hooves and nice newly fitted shoes, and they have nothing to fear. It doesn't hurt, it just feels funny like our nails getting clipped. They get breaks in between each foot so they can put weight back on that leg. They've learned that they can trust the farrier not to hurt them at any point in time. It's classic conditioning.

Reasons to this are the ones you suggest:
      1) Hoofs aint getting that fresh cut their whole life, so are disease prone, and in case they got damage, there's no one to treat the hoof.
      2) They get damaged and destroyed, due to them traveling in mountains or plains, and simply they face the harsh nature on everyday basis, while domesticated horses are usually travelling the same old plain or farm, maybe get to walk in the trees but don't go around as much as wild ones.

@@X28Q If you look at the metal shoes you can see they have a tab on either side that sticks up to ensure the shoe has no side-to-side movement. If he didn’t burn an imprint into the hoof then those tabs would stick out on the sides and get in the way, instead of sitting flush with the rest of the hoof. It also helps mold the edges of the shoe into the hoof

@Ramu ramu angle grinders are basically files so you can grind down the hoof quickly idk about drilling or using the bench grinder on the hoof but the drill and bench grinder is to make sizing the shoe quicker

This has got to be the most well mannered horse I have seen and the most skilled horseshoer. Like the horse has complete trust in him and vice versa. The horses body language says it's not in pain and how it voluntarily lifts its hooves says everything. Beautiful work

I know there are going to be people out there who think the horse feels pain during this procedure. Trust me, if the horse was feeling pain, it would let you know - with a swift kick to the abdomen. So clearly this horse understands what this man is doing and is in no pain whatsoever.
