When you started to burn the hooves with the horse shoes I was amazed! It was crazy to see all the smoke shoot off. That horse must be feeling so much better now ^^
At first I was wondering if this was painful for the horse, but then I realized a grown-ass horse could and WOULD fuck up a human that was actually hurting or threatening it.
He clearly is extremely experienced. I once had to file a horse's nails... My God, the smell didn't leave me for days. Cool video, I wanted to see the horse after with a big smile on its face...
@@StrikerV3 The burning hoof has got to be as grotesque if not worse than burning tooth. I was conscious for a wisdom tooth extraction and they had to cut into my tooth to remove it and my god. It's the most disgusting thing I've ever smelled.
@@digiquo8143 Burning hooves should smell very similar to how burning hair does as they both are made of the same molecules. Thus the smell must be dreadful, especially considering the amount of smoke coming out.
What impressed me is the horse seemed to know exactly where you wanted it to place it's hoof and it didn't move a muscle while you did the work. Clearly this guy is one of the best in the business.
I imagine getting their hooves restored and shoes changed feels very similar to us getting pedicures. It’s quite relaxing and feels good once they’ve got clean feet and fresh gear.
If their hoofs are naturally a brighter color, they are more brittle and prone to cracking when going fast, so horses lighter hoofs most likely will need horseshoes.
@shroomey I'm fairly certain that the kind of terrain the horse will be on affects the likelihood of said complications. Horses that are on concrete, asphalt, brick will wear their hooves down way more than wild horses that will mostly be on grass and dirt.
@@shroomey6686 haha, you triggered my trump card, i actually know about this topic! So, basically span of wild horse is 5 years shorter than domesticated one (dont actually know exact number but around this mark). Reasons to this are the ones you suggest: 1) Hoofs aint getting that fresh cut their whole life, so are disease prone, and in case they got damage, there's no one to treat the hoof. 2) They get damaged and destroyed, due to them traveling in mountains or plains, and simply they face the harsh nature on everyday basis, while domesticated horses are usually travelling the same old plain or farm, maybe get to walk in the trees but don't go around as much as wild ones.

I'm always so intrigued by this proces. As a kid I was taught to be careful when cleaning a horses shoe, not to go to deep when getting everything out as you might hurt the horse but seeing this and looking back, the horses were nowhere near danger with 10 year ol me 😂😂
i know right? i still don't get the anatomy of it. When you see schematics it appears only a small portion of the underside is actually hard and naillike, but in the video is looks like he is cutting away big portions of all the underside, like there is no soft tissue anywhere. I mean, where is the "frog" and "sole"?
I was taught the same, looking back I think it’s more about trust from the horse than actually hurting them. They’re more likely to bolt if they don’t trust you, or feel like you might hurt them. Our farrier always let me start the hoof clean. I’m guessing because he was watching and knew our mare’s limit?
Wait, you mean you never took a red hot horse shoe and burnt your horses hoof? lol 😂 I saw that and was like WTF! But I get it, they don't have nerves there, but dang, thats the most intense pedicure I've seen.
Your right. Horses don't have pain receptors in their hooves. Just like how humans don't have pain receptors in their finger nails so basically is like trimming your nails and making them look nice but for horses.
An absolute craftsman, his skills and the horses trust in him are amazing, we can only imagine how the horse feels at the end of it. Its a process that been going for hundreds of years, and apart from some new technology nothing much has changed.
all unrighteousness is sin and all of us have sinned against the Holy God, and so we all deserve eternal damnation in hell. we could not get right with God by our act of "Good works," nothing by own our righteousness we could do to could save us. which is why there is the "Good news/ Gospel" The debt we couldn't pay, CHRIST payed for us on the cross. we broke the law/ GOD'S commandments, and CHRIST JESUS payed the fine. Yeah. The horse is just like “time for that manicure”
I imagine getting their hooves restored and shoes changed feels very similar to us getting pedicures. It’s quite relaxing and feels good once they’ve got clean feet and fresh gear.
This actually is important to the health of the horse as helps stop hoof complications and is like a pedicure for them
If their hoofs are naturally a brighter color, they are more brittle and prone to cracking when going fast, so horses lighter hoofs most likely will need horseshoes.
so wild horses are suffering with their untreated hooves?
@shroomey I'm fairly certain that the kind of terrain the horse will be on affects the likelihood of said complications. Horses that are on concrete, asphalt, brick will wear their hooves down way more than wild horses that will mostly be on grass and dirt.
@@shroomey6686 haha, you triggered my trump card, i actually know about this topic! So, basically span of wild horse is 5 years shorter than domesticated one (dont actually know exact number but around this mark).
Reasons to this are the ones you suggest:
1) Hoofs aint getting that fresh cut their whole life, so are disease prone, and in case they got damage, there's no one to treat the hoof.
2) They get damaged and destroyed, due to them traveling in mountains or plains, and simply they face the harsh nature on everyday basis, while domesticated horses are usually travelling the same old plain or farm, maybe get to walk in the trees but don't go around as much as wild ones.
@@gots0359 oh thanks for the information! perhaps i could've just google it but it feels more lively to ask it here!

Man… what a tradesman… Really nice work.

Quick question
What is this step used for at 4:58?
@@X28Q If you look at the metal shoes you can see they have a tab on either side that sticks up to ensure the shoe has no side-to-side movement. If he didn’t burn an imprint into the hoof then those tabs would stick out on the sides and get in the way, instead of sitting flush with the rest of the hoof. It also helps mold the edges of the shoe into the hoof
