Double neck basses, double 6's with different pickup configurations and string types for vastly different sounds making it a very unusual and unique instrument. Does that make sense?
Back in the beginning of the 70s, I was a teenager and that kind of dream happened to me. I had awoken from a dream in which my Mom had died. It felt so damn real. Silent Lucidity" was written about a person having a lucid dream. ... DeGarmo got the idea from a book called "Creative Dreaming". "The song is about the ability to realize that you're dreaming, recognize it, and actually participate in the dream, shape it, change it," the guitarist said in a 1990 interview.
Conventionally, the top neck has 12 strings, and the bottom neck has 6 strings, the purpose is basically sound range generally used acoustically for crisp harmonic sound.
Silent Lucidity is my favorite song by Queensyche. They played it when I went to see them in concert. It was the first concert I attended...I was in highschool. I read he wrote that song for his kids. So beautiful 💙 😍 Another fave is The lady wore black and basically the whole Empire album

I literally floated out of my body every morning looked out my front window floated back to my bedroom laid back down into my body then my alarm clock would then wake me. it was so strange. Years later i figured out it was this song that did this to me.
@@MaddDogg316 I will agree that RED doesn't really belong on this series, yes, but I do want him to react to them at some point. I'm just throwing out their name every chance I get.
I knew it was gonna be Queensrÿche. Lol! For 'R', go with Revocation. To give you some idea of their sound and awesomeness, basically, if The Black Dahlia Murder and Exodus had a baby, it would be Revocation. Some good songs from them (although, you can hardly go wrong with any of them, if we're being honest here) are: *Unattained* *Tail from the Crypt* *Pestilence Reigns* *Cretin* *Scattering the Flock* *A Debt Owed to the Grave* *Deathless* *Crumbling Imperium* *Of Unworldy Origin* *That Which Consumes All Things*
Geoff Tate, wrote this song for one of his daughters, when he heard she would have nightmare while he was away touring. It's his lullaby for his daughter.
Purpose of a dual neck guitar is to have access to different sets of strings. If you look at the number of tuning pegs at the headstocks you'll see the lower neck has 6 strings and the upper neck has 12 strings. I guess on this song he plays the 12-string for rhythm and the 6-string for lead.
Double Neck Guitars: Top neck is a 12-String. Bottom is a 6-String. There are also doubles that have a Baritone neck on top and Standard neck on bottom. There are other configurations out there I'm sure. But the one DeGarmo is using in this video is a 12 on top, 6 on bottom.
Honestly even tho Whitechapel has great songs all through their discography, Bring Me Home is the song for Alex. He didn’t like Suicide Silence because of how abrasive and aggressive it was. He’ll like the melodic sound more.
Listening to silence lucidity for your first Queensrÿche experience is like listening to the sound of silence for your first disturbed experience.😂😂😂😂😂😂
Double neck guitar is usually a 12 string and a 6 string. It makes it easier to switch between them when 1 guitarist is playing two parts in the song...
Hush now, don't you cry Wipe away the teardrop from your eye You're lying safe in bed It was all a bad dream Spinning in your head Your mind tricked you to feel the pain Of someone close to you leaving the game of life So here it is, another chance Wide awake you face the day Your dream is over or has it just begun? There's a place I like to hide A doorway that I run through in the night Relax child, you were there But only didn't realize it and you were scared It's a place where you will learn To face your fears, retrace the years And ride the whims of your mind Commanding in another world Suddenly you hear and see This magic new dimension I will be watching over you I am gonna help you see it through I will protect you in the night I am smiling next to you In silent lucidity If you open your mind for me You won't rely on open eyes to see The walls you built within Come tumbling down And a new world will begin Living twice at once you learn You're safe from the pain in the dream domain A soul set free to fly A round trip journey in your head Master of illusion, can you realize Your dream's alive, you can be the guide but I will be watching over you I am gonna help to see it through I will protect you in the night I am smiling next to you
I'm thinking about making a thousand fake accounts and upvoting this so that he finally does it. Been writing this in the comments since he f****ng started!
As I understand it the purpose of a double-neck guitar is for when the guitarist wants to or needs to switch from a 6-string to a 12-string guitar very quickly and I just don't want to have to deal with taking off on guitar putting on the other. As I said earlier the further back you go in there, catalog the closer they get to their heavy metal roots

The double neck guitar usually has a six string and a twelve string, and you can tune them differently, to keep from having to switch guitars during a song/show/performance. And btw Geoff is classically trained! He has a great range and tone.

(R)ivers of Nihil- Where owls know my name
R is for Ra- Do you call my name?
Wow, haven't heard that one hit wonder in a long time
Ra is one of my favorite bands. Terribly underrated. Their newer stuff is great also.
@@deadbunnyking check out their album critical mass. I think it came out 2016. Some great music on here.
Yes!
C is for Crazy Bread.
So beautiful 💙
😍 Another fave is The lady wore black and basically the whole Empire album
Rainbow - Gates of Babylon
[V] Virvum - Illuminance. You won't regret it
This song gave me out of body experiences for a couple years. No other song has affected me like this one. I listened to it a few times a day and had these out of body experiences daily. I literally floated out of my body every morning looked out my front window floated back to my bedroom laid back down into my body then my alarm clock would then wake me. it was so strange. Years later i figured out it was this song that did this to me.
We played this at my daughters funeral as we walked her casket to the hearse for her last ride. She was 16.
R needs to be RED- Darkest Part, Death of Me, or Already Over
Not metal enough to be part of this series, but great band tho
I agree with Hugo, really love the band but more hard rock/alt metal.
They're still more metal than some other bands he's reacted to
@@panzerpriest9220, and those were mistakes as well. We are cleaning this list up.
Some good songs from them (although, you can hardly go wrong with any of them, if we're being honest here) are:
*Unattained*
*Tail from the Crypt*
*Pestilence Reigns*
*Cretin*
*Scattering the Flock*
*A Debt Owed to the Grave*
*Deathless*
*Crumbling Imperium*
*Of Unworldy Origin*
*That Which Consumes All Things*
Empire, another rainy night , jet city woman, hold on to the flame, i am i. All great songs. One of my favorite bands!
Geoff Tate, wrote this song for one of his daughters, when he heard she would have nightmare while he was away touring. It's his lullaby for his daughter.
Rivers Of Nihil - Where Owls Know My Name
R for Revocation - The Grip Tightens
R = Rammstein - Mein Teil
S = Sepultura maybe 🤔
T = Testament - Souls Of Black / The Legacy /Face In The Sky !!!
I just commented for TESTAMENT 🔥🔥🔥
Testament \m/ but Soilwork or Sylosis for S. I heard Rammstein blocks everything so that might not work
Yes Testament!! Practice What You Preach or Low \m/
Sabaton for S he's already done Sepultura
seacactus 13 yes he has but that hasn’t stopped him with previous letters. Need to do some older bands, Suicidal Tendencies or Sacred Reich for S even
WHITECHAPEL FOR W!!! 😀 the saw is the LAAAAWWWW!!
Black bear would be better
KingdomCum not for a new listener. Solid song tho!
Honestly even tho Whitechapel has great songs all through their discography, Bring Me Home is the song for Alex. He didn’t like Suicide Silence because of how abrasive and aggressive it was. He’ll like the melodic sound more.
Father of lies or this is exile = win
He never do Whitechapel:( Our Endless War!!!!
Understand when you listen to a queensryche album they have a tendency to do concept albums that tell a story front to back
The entire album: Empire that Silent Lucidity is from is a masterpiece. No bad songs. They took prog rock to another level.
We're getting close to...S for...SYMPHONY X - THE ODYSSEY
S - Sabaton, Carolus Rex
Oh hell yes
Very good choice
Or Gott mit uns.. Swedish version..
Would love to see Alex deal more with European/Scandinavian language...
@@SortenRavn Yeah I'd really like that too! All Sabaton's Swedish songs are good..
@@Ems-ms3oj most likely because they're Swedes?
🤔
(Often a song becomes better when you sing in your native tongue.. )
Rotting Christ - Non Serviam. Greetings from Greece. In my opinion their best song so far. Also it's their signature one
Rise of the nortstar- this is cross over for the letter R plz
Hush now, don't you cry
Wipe away the teardrop from your eye
You're lying safe in bed
It was all a bad dream
Spinning in your head
Your mind tricked you to feel the pain
Of someone close to you leaving the game of life
So here it is, another chance
Wide awake you face the day
Your dream is over or has it just begun?
There's a place I like to hide
A doorway that I run through in the night
Relax child, you were there
But only didn't realize it and you were scared
It's a place where you will learn
To face your fears, retrace the years
And ride the whims of your mind
Commanding in another world
Suddenly you hear and see
This magic new dimension
I will be watching over you
I am gonna help you see it through
I will protect you in the night
I am smiling next to you
In silent lucidity
If you open your mind for me
You won't rely on open eyes to see
The walls you built within
Come tumbling down
And a new world will begin
Living twice at once you learn
You're safe from the pain in the dream domain
A soul set free to fly
A round trip journey in your head
Master of illusion, can you realize
Your dream's alive, you can be the guide but
I will be watching over you
I am gonna help to see it through
I will protect you in the night
I am smiling next to you
Had me in and out of consciousness. So calm and beautiful. Love it!!!!
"S" Sylosis: Teras. Just trust me!
I'm thinking about making a thousand fake accounts and upvoting this so that he finally does it. Been writing this in the comments since he f****ng started!
@@stefanhohneck8879 lol. Dude, I've been a sub since before he had 4,000. He has never done what I recommend
FANtastic news
As I understand it the purpose of a double-neck guitar is for when the guitarist wants to or needs to switch from a 6-string to a 12-string guitar very quickly and I just don't want to have to deal with taking off on guitar putting on the other. As I said earlier the further back you go in there, catalog the closer they get to their heavy metal roots
Geoff Tate is a classically trained Opera singer. I've been a huge fan of this band since the 80's.
Thanks Alex...have a dope ass day!! 🤘👍👍🤘
Seen them in So.Cal with Black Sabbath featuring Ronnie D also Alice Cooper . What shame they broke up
Such a beautiful song. Next R for artist : Rammstein - titelsong : Rammstein
Oh wow :D
Didn't expect this suggestion :D
(I mean the song)
U - Unleash The Archers - Cleanse The Bloodlines
YES! YES! YES! I agree! Excellent choice!!! For T I was thinking of TYPE O NEGATIVE & "Everything Dies"! I know he's reacted to one of their songs, but that is my favourite! And UNLEASH THE ARCHERS is perfection! Rock on! 🤘🔥💨
Yes
They have to be U
Any song by them really
I want to se alex react to that high notes in tonight we ride
Dream state- white lies
Soil work- nerve
Finch - bite marks and bloodstains
Shadows fall - the power of I and I
one of my all-time favorites from my hometown band with their old singer but love the new lead singer who sounds amazing saw them in concert a few years ago and they are awesome live

[R] Rammstein - Keine Lust
Rammstein have a automated blocker. so it wont happen.
The double neck guitar usually has a six string and a twelve string, and you can tune them differently, to keep from having to switch guitars during a song/show/performance. And btw Geoff is classically trained! He has a great range and tone.
One of my favorite songs to relax with. Loved this song when I was younger. Incredible song! Goosebumps as soon as the song started, man miss the 80s lol
R is for Rammstein : Mein Teil
Rammstein blocks everything
Good one
I think sonne would be better for him. Especially with the video
