Been listening to Queensryche since the Warning and when Empire came out i was totally turned off by it. I saw them live as the opening act for Metallica in 1988 in Denver, Colorado, where they did the entire Operation Mindcrime album and a few of my favorites from Rage for Order. They also did Queen of the Ryche. Fantastic show. Especially for an opening act.

Believe it or not, this is the beginning of Geoff Tate's fall as a singer. First three albums his range and power were nearly unmatched.
It's a big ask, but I beg you. Even if it isn't a reaction, and you just do it for yourself, please listen to their album Operation: Mindcrime start to finish. The album is an absolute masterpiece and no single song does it justice (don't listen to everyone telling you to listen to Eyes of a Stranger. The song is meaningless without context) I promise you won't regret it. Indeed it may be the best 45 minutes you'll ever spend musically.

This song is one of the things that connects me with him again. Every time I listen to it, I can hear him singing it. My interpretation of the song is that sleep is the one place where you can connect with your late loved ones. And that they will always protect you.

Wow, Queensryche!! So this is a great song, but it's basically the chillest song in their discography because this album (Empire) was their most polished and radio-ready. If you want to hear what heavy Queensryche sounds like, listen to "Warning", "The Lady Wore Black," "Queen or the Ryche," or my personal favorite, "NM156." That's the stuff they built their following on. Oh, and probably the Operation Mindcrime album in its entirety (don't just listen to one song, you gotta do the whole album). P.S. This song is about astral projection.

@@MrRudeboy212 Thanks for the compliment on my choice of suggestion. All of their albums up to Empire were unique from each other and great in their own way. All had great songs. Only thing wrong with them I found was that I saw Empire tour when they did Operation Mindcrime in it's entirety and it was so overproduced and sequenced, it had no live feel to it. I was disappointed. I'm a musician and live the raw feel of live rock that you can hear seeing Guns n roses, Iron Maiden, Megadeth, Alice or Judas Priest back then or LA Guns or something similar. But still a big fan and appreciate what they did musically. The whole album with the songs you mentioned is so different within just a few tracks. An awesome display of their versatility from the start.

Back in the beginning of the 70s, I was a teenager and that kind of dream happened to me. I had awoken from a dream in which my Mom had died. It felt so damn real. I was actually sweating and I became quite anxious as I got up and out of bed. I headed downstairs to see if my Dad was around. Alas, there at the kitchen table sat my Mom. I can't begin to explain the kind of relief that came over me. I almost dropped to my knees as my eyes took in what I thought had been taken away from me. I never ever told my Mom what I had dreamed because I didn't want to create a jinx of any kind, one that would have fulfilled my dream into reality. Until this day, I can still remember the dream and how it made me feel at that time and it is scary to say the least, and I am now 68 years old. This song gives me the chills but I love it.

Have an appreciation for what Queensryche is capable of. But all is not lost, you can
Just do that in the reverse order and now Eyes of a Stranger will hit that much harder. For the Letter R a great choice would be Ra -Do you call my name. This song gave me out of body experiences for a couple years. No other song has affected me like this one. I listened to it a few times a day and had these out of body experiences daily. I literally floated out of my body every morning looked out my front window floated back to my bedroom laid back down into my body then my alarm clock would then wake me. it was so strange. Years later i figured out it was this song that did this to me.

For 'R', go with Revocation. To give you some idea of their sound and awesomeness, basically, if The Black Dahlia Murder and Exodus had a baby, it would be Revocation. Some good songs from them (although, you can hardly go wrong with any of them, if we're being honest here) are:
    *Unattained*
    *Tail from the Crypt*
    *Pestilence Reigns*
    *Cretin*
    *Scattering the Flock*
*A Debt Owed to the Grave*
    *Deathless*
    *Crumbling Imperium*
    *Of Unworldy Origin*
    *That Which Consumes All Things*

Purpose of a dual neck guitar is to have access to different sets of strings. If you look at the number of tuning pegs at the headstocks you'll see the lower neck has 6 strings and the upper neck has 12 strings. I guess on this song he plays the 12-string for rhythm and the 6-string for lead.

  • @thelonelydirector
    @thelonelydirector Před 5 lety

Double Neck Guitars: Top neck is a 12-String. Bottom is a 6-String. There are also doubles that have a Baritone neck on top and Standard neck on bottom. There are other configurations out there I'm sure. But the one DeGarmo is using in this video is a 12 on top, 6 on bottom.

    Hush now, don't you cry
Wipe away the teardrop from your eye
    You're lying safe in bed
It was all a bad dream
    Spinning in your head
Your mind tricked you to feel the pain
Of someone close to you leaving the game of life
So here it is, another chance
Wide awake you face the day
Your dream is over or has it just begun?
    There's a place I like to hide
A doorway that I run through in the night
    Relax child, you were there
But only didn't realize it and you were scared
It's a place where you will learn
To face your fears, retrace the years
And ride the whims of your mind
    Commanding in another world
    Suddenly you hear and see
    This magic new dimension
I will be watching over you
I am gonna help you see it through
I will protect you in the night
I am smiling next to you
    In silent lucidity
If you open your mind for me
You won't rely on open eyes to see
    The walls you built within
    Come tumbling down
And a new world will begin
Living twice at once you learn
You're safe from the pain in the dream domain
A soul set free to fly
A round trip journey in your head
Master of illusion, can you realize
Your dream's alive, you can be the guide but
I will be watching over you
I am gonna help to see it through
I will protect you in the night
I am smiling next to you

As I understand it the purpose of a double-neck guitar is for when the guitarist wants to or needs to switch from a 6-string to a 12-string guitar very quickly and I just don't want to have to deal with taking off on guitar putting on the other. As I said earlier the further back you go in there, catalog the closer they get to their heavy metal roots
