- The Palestinian group says in a statement that it welcomes the ICJ rulings as the Israeli army continues to commit “massacres” in the Gaza Strip.
But Hamas said it expected the court to issue an order for Israel to stop its military operations throughout the besieged enclave, not just in Rafah.
“What is happening in Jabalia and other governorates of the Strip is no less criminal and dangerous than what is happening in Rafah.”
“We call on the international community and the United Nations to pressure the occupation to immediately comply with this decision and to seriously and genuinely proceed in translating all UN resolutions that force the Zionist occupation army to stop the genocide it has been committing against our people for more than seven months.”
Al Jazeera spoke to Hamas spokesman Osama Hamdan, who says the international community is failing to pressure Israel to comply with international law.

The original sin was western support for Israeli colonial revivalism in a post racial and pluralistic world. The USA/ UK governments envisioned a colonial role for Israel in the Middle East but overlooked the fact that the world has moved on. It's almost as if these governments, in supporting Israeli massacres, have forgotten the barbarism and acute racism of 19th century European colonialism. The world has comprehensively rejected both the darkness of the past and it's remnants (South African Apartheid) in the present. The USA/UK governments should never have assigned a colonial role for Israel after that chapter was closed.

The Palestinians had the chance to build a safe, functional, and prosperous livelihood. But the first thing the Palestinians did in return was to elect a government that enshrined the goal of destroying Israel in their constitution. The elected government followed through with its promise. Since its founding, thousands of rockets have flown into Israel. Dozens of civilians died in terrorist attacks. Millions of aid funds - intended for civilian purpose - were misused to build rockets, tunnels, and other nonsense. The crimes committed on October 7th like raping women, killing children, or kidnapping a baby, was Humus has been doing for years.
Secondly. Israel behaved more humanely in this conflict than any other conceivable party in any imaginable conflict. It allowed Palestinians to work in Israel, receive medical care or even migrate into their country. During war, they warn civilians where their military is operating. They admit collateral damage and apologize for it. They saved Sinwar’s life giving him a lethal brain surgery. They treated the daughter of Haniyyas daughter for her complex disease in Israel. While Humus was building rockets and tunnels with all the foreign aid, Israel supplied their civilians with free water and electricity.
The situation is clear. In no other conflict the responsibility for the suffering has been so one sided and clear - in no other conflict have the perpetrators been held accountable so weakly. People with voice and power who claim to reject war have the duty to unequivocally name the culprit of this war and do everything in their power to eliminate them. Everything else is responsibility for the resulting suffering and will extend it.
