Finally, a real farmer showing what farm life is all about. Sorting pigs?...I've got to say I've been ass over apple cart a few times when I thought I could out muscle a hog. I think people do not realize how strong those animals are. That can be a really tough job. Thanks for sharing. It's kind of nice to see real farmers that do not do everything with the latest quad track equipment pulling brand new implements into a cemented floor machine shed twice the size of a football field and the shed fully equipped to manufacture medical equipment. There are many farming videos that show great farming with the newest equipment - that's not reality. Anybody can sit on a seat and let the tractor drive itself. Again, thanks for sharing.
Yes, a Tork edition of him BBQing with a cold one telling stories should be on the docket. Maybe him going over your farm plans for the year given the fertilizer and input costs on the rise. I’d like to know his perspective. A lot of farmers are going to be hurting.
My dad every time he backed the job trailer into the yard he would get a call. So he would back up and talk on the phone at the same time. Not safe but he did it.
Does Elanco still make Paylean for growth promotion? I made a commercial for Paylean and was supposed to go to Missouri for a weeks vacation but I and my cousin was moving pigs out of the nursery and we started at 5 am and at 5:30 am I ran my knee into something and took the wind out of me, and I finally got my second wind and we moved the rest of the pigs out of the nursery and got done after 10 pm and I went home to take a shower and go to bed and I pulled my foot out of my boot and my sock was full of blood and I dropped my jeans and I had a cut knee since 5:30 am and was still bleeding and I took a long shower and put a bandaid on the cut and a week later I was in the hospital for 3 weeks with a knee infection that I'm still fighting today 24 years later and it was a nipple water that cut my knee and not my jeans.
Good plug for "Thunder Creek" tailer. Since you hire planting you might consider selling the planter in the shed and put towards the Thunder Creek trailer. Used equipment is super hot pricing. That would free up room for your Thunder Creek Trailer financially and shed.

Both, We like to presort if possible and sometimes the marketing crew can’t get there until the day we load. I’ve marked a few pigs so they will let us mark our own if needed.
I was a toddler when we had 160 sows and finished on dirt. Built our first Husky Built barns in 75 and then put everything inside. Hauled water with a 60 and ground with the 4010.

Dude being towed: All you need to do is keep the brakes on just enough to keep tension on the chain. That way, you won't snap anymore chains.

How big is your pig barns how many do you have
Do you mark the smaller pigs to sort out or does someone from the organization you grow for mark them?
Both, We like to presort if possible and sometimes the marketing crew can’t get there until the day we load. I’ve marked a few pigs so they will let us mark our own if needed.
Why do you sort the smaller pigs? Are they sent somewhere to fatten up or off to the slaughter house?
Have you guys ever used a Yankum Rope to start a tractor? Wonder if it would help or hurt the effort.
