    Looks so much easier than the old Mopar rock rails that I have on mine. They were notoriously difficult to install. When I end up replacing them I will definitely be ordering these Chief Rails.

    Did you have any issues with the holes on the rock rail not aligning with the oval slots on your vehicle? I got 5 to align, but the very front hole on the rock rail is in front of the oval slot of my vehicle. I can’t even adjust it because it’s not within the area of the oval slot. Also one of my M6 U-Nuts doesn’t align with one of the pre drilled holes on the rock rail because the hole is next to a welded piece.

      Same here 5 out of 6. The very front driverside bolt was out of alignment by 3-4 mm. I credit jeep for this. I gave up on that bolt. I doubt it will make a difference in the long run. Thanks for sharing your experience. Glad it wasnt just me.

    • @ProdigalOverland
      @ProdigalOverland  Před 4 lety

      My Jeep didn't have the mopar rails on them. So I can't compare. I have taken a few scrapes on these and they are holding up well. I also like that they can be used as a step.

      I ordered the rock rails directly from chief products. However I have also used www.justforjeeps.com as well. They are an official distributer of Chief Products.

    May be a dumb question but doesn’t seem like the factory piece could be reinstalled? So years down the road if you trade it in I’m guessing the new rails would have to stay on the jeep?

    Used your firewood trick to bend the clip - worked like a charm!

    Is the right rock rail lower than the black plastic wires harness that runs on the underbody right side (between the right fuel tank and front tire)?

    • @jfuentes2009
      @jfuentes2009 Před 3 měsíci

      Yes the passenger side plastic harness covering is lower than the rock rail, but only at the rear half. The front half of the harness is higher. Looking at mine now and it doesnt seem to hang low enough to be of a concern because the fuel tank plate is lower than both the rail and the harness.

    These are very nice sliders, I can’t wait to... how much? No thanks, way too much for me. You can get a piece of metal to protect a JK for a couple hundred bucks, but can’t touch a piece of metal for a WK2 for under a grand. 🤦‍♂️

    how low profile are these? do you lose any clearance? do you gain any clearance?

    • @ProdigalOverland
      @ProdigalOverland  Před 4 lety +1

      So as far as ground clearance goes. My rock rails are definitely not the Lowest point on my rig. When I get hung up it’s not from my rails. So in that sense you don’t lose ground clearance. They won’t help you gain clearance either. I would consider them low profile in the sense that they don’t stick a lot down the frame. Although the Mopar rails look to hug the body more. Thanks for the question. Hope that helps
