      (Spoilers) He is only "destroying the world" to save the Elvish. to save his people, so I believe, yes, he would approve of Sentinels helping the Elvish teach them the old ways, especially ones those dedicated to his "dearest friend" Mythal. Plus they know the REAL history of the Elvish, the real story of Fen'Harel, so yes, this is the only time Solas would approve you asking another of the Elvish to help. That and asking Flemeth (Mythal) to help the Elvish as well. :)

      +MinecraftPro15 Solas would tear down the Veil which will certainly release the Evanuris who I should remind you, weaponized the Blight. Why else would the Black City would have the Blight? The Blight is not from the Fade since it can only effect the living. Solas says he has plans for getting rid of the Evanuria. But from he's dialogue with Varric on Lyrium, Solas was disappointed that the Dwarves have not yet study Lyrium for academic purposes. Whatever he's plan are, he will not be able to neutralize Red Lyrium or Blight Magic as Vivienne calls it. They all can't conveniently slayable dragons like Corypheus.

      oodsong Solas respects the ideal your character offers at that point. He has a much more extreme solution to improving the world, but you making that suggestion shows that you, too, wish to truly improve things.

    • @kbat
      @kbat Před 5 lety +97

      To me on my first play through this seemed like he was being condescending, as if to say "i don't want to be anywhere with your type I'm better than you" with Solas sticking by and saying "yeah man come on you're welcome".
      Now it's clear that Abelas recognises Solas one way or another and asks if anyone remains, perhaps the gods or just other ancient elves. And Solas responds with a yes.
      So did Solas mean Flemeth when he said yes? Are there more of the gods alive? Does Solas keep the Gods within himself to keep them alive but locked away and that's why Flemeth was absorbed into him?

    • @BOBOFSAGGET
      @BOBOFSAGGET Před 4 lety +20

      @@kbat There's no pure evidence of the Evanuris being whom Solas was referring to exactly. There could be more sentinels in different places, using similar magic to enter and exit stasis. More than likely, Abelas was asking if there were other ancient elves, but not necessarily the Evanuris. And to that Solas could more confidently affirm. Additionally, given what Solas did, Abelas would likely have much more to say if he knew Solas was Fen'Harel.

    • @Valyrianalien
      @Valyrianalien Před 4 lety +8

      Nah, not who he is. We may suspect he's an ancient elf, but that's fine because we've just been told they're around. It's not like being an ancient elf in itself means he would betray you. I'm not even sure Abelas recognized Solas. Another interpretation is of course that Solas recruits him as his agent if he lives.

    • @ClouDistrict31
      @ClouDistrict31 Před 4 lety +7

      @@Valyrianalien Agreed. If he truly recognize the dread wolf, he would probably have a more noticeable reaction or something, it's not his first time to wake up and defend the well, after all. He probably just recognize him as an ancient elve or something since that's what elvhan means.
      I guess Abelas could be hiding his emotions if he realized what the dread wolf was doing, but considering Solas' plan went awry in the first place, it's quite unlikely. My opinion anyway.

    The most tragic part of Morrigan killing Abelas is that the reason Morrigan cares about preserving the magic of the past is because that's how Flemeth/Mythal raised her. She said so herself. Both of them were trying to act out the will of Mythal. If Mythal had simply shown up and told them to give it to her they might well have done so. To me that makes this so much sadder.

      MinecraftPro15 They're not slave markings to them. This isn't Tevinter that laid its slavery out for all to hate/grovel at. The elven gods were truly worshiped and it was, to many of them (a mix at times, and obviously there was discontent), proper to be marked.
      From what I gather.

    • @moniquita720
      @moniquita720 Před 7 lety +40

      Malcolm Swoboda Thats what the elvish think. Yes, the elvish gods were worshipped, but the markings were for slaves. Ask Solas. He told us. And destroyed all our dreams.

    • @SwobyJ
      @SwobyJ Před 7 lety +54

      MÓNICA ANDRADE You're missing my point. From any lore implications, the elven gods were part of triumphing over the titans. They grew in power and prominence and were indeed worshipped. Yes it was almost certainly an esteemed thing to receive markings. What it *turned into*, encouraging Solas' revolutionary views, is another matter.
      We know Solas has bias like anyone else. Doesn't mean he's necessarily 'wrong', just that he views things from his own perspective, wide as that perspective supposes to be. But there's also more to it, and I don't think its all as clear as Solas puts it. But it sure can put us on an anti-elven standpoint going into the next game (hmmmm).
      What is almost certain is that by the time of Solas' revolution and disastrous actions, its at least the case that things had degraded so much that vallaslin WERE at least effectively 'slave markings' to the warring deities, save for perhaps Mythal's relatively 'mark of respect' hers might have more meant.
      If the Dalish view it one way and Solas views it another, just don't be surprised when the next narrative explains how it was viewed even another way.

      @@notoriousbig3kThis isn’t correct. There are 3 types of elves:
      *City elves= not that in touch with their heritage. Some still care about it but many don’t anymore, and they engage more with human culture.
      *Dalish= they try to stay in touch with their heritage, and they believe they do, but they have the wrong idea. The valaslin for example are not markings used to honour their gods, they were actually used by the evil elven gods (evanuris) to mark their slaves. Dalish saw these markings in ancient images and got the wrong idea. The dalish also don’t really have any actual direct knowledge of the ancient elves, and mostly try to blindly worship and follow the old ways. They are honourable, but they’re misinformed. It’s not their fault that they have no real knowledge of the ancient elves
      *Ancient elves= Solas, Mythal, and Abelas and the Sentinels are this type. They are actual remnants of the true ancient elves and they know the truth (maybe the Sentinels don’t fully know, since they are just descendants, but Solas/Fen’harel and Flemeth/Mythal definitely know the actual truth). They are different than Dalish (hence why Abelas insults a dalish inquisitor) since as I’ve said the dalish have a misinformed/warped view on the ancient elves and the gods

    • @morganmarks5286
      @morganmarks5286 Před 6 lety +17

      Maybe they also used the tattoo to show which gods they served- not slavery, just worship. That way, if their paths crossed with others, they would know that they served a god.
      It makes more sense in my mind than it does while I'm explaining it, where the tattoo would show their devotion and dedication to Mythal, as they would permanently mark their faces with her specific face tattoo. I wouldn't take it as a complete sign of slavery as Solas had stated, because he was trying to prove how awful the mark was so he could remove it off the inquisitor, so I think that it was more for servants, priests or sentinels, and finally slaves.

    • @Valyrianalien
      @Valyrianalien Před 4 lety +1

      You're not really losing time tho, it takes time to go through the area after jumping as well. You are losing time of course if you do the rituals and then jump to get the loot (and codexes), but it's very hard to find a non-meta reason for that anyway.
      From the Inq's point of view, the rituals will let them bypass a potentially dangerous area. It's also reasonable to assume that the temple could have more magical defenses (like the one that roasted Cory at the gate), and the rituals could make it so they don't trigger. On the other hand, if you jump after Samson/Calpernia, they'll probably trigger any traps for you and you get to stay on their tail, so that's a valid decision too.

    • @Moka044
      @Moka044 Před 4 lety +1

      @@Valyrianalien Mhhh I'm not sure about the time thing. For me, jumping into the hole was like the 10 minutes option and doing the rituals like the 30 minutes option. Companions clearly said you will losing more time doing them while Inky soldiers are dying outside. Also, the enemies are supposed to perhaps reach the well during that time. That what my message was about.
      But in reality, you can go slow, respect the place, having no consequence for your soldiers, having sentinels on your side and still have the well... You can have *everything*. That's what bother me.
      I totally agree with you about protection and stuff in the temple. Make sense. Plus I love having more lore :D
