Allen Babylon What? The second Death Star had a huge network of millimetre-wide ports that would seal automatically if an energy surge was detected. If you're referring to the ships flying into the superstructure you should know that's only possible because they hadn't finished building it, hence the shield.
Well not only that but people felt that it felt relatable and could connect with others' lives. Whether times are hard or easy, it is best to live the moment
Yeah but no other movie has done a 12 year production for a movie before and we see the characters grow in front of us. Plus Harry potter is a series guy. This is a full length film
I will argue it. The 12 year old thing is a gimmick that you sell the movie with. I have seen the movie 4 times not because of the gimmick, but because I found the way that story was told was fascinating, and it made me think about my own life more than any other movie I have ever seen. It shows life in the most honest way, and it just shows the question that everyone goes through at some point; What is the point? It is not a traditional movie, but it makes you think and gives you ALL the feelings. Not everyone will like it, but everyone will relate to it. I love the movie, and the way it is made is insanly impressive, but the movie holds up after the first viewing when you are in awe of the way it was made.
***** Id say the whole reason I liked it was probably Andrew and Emma's chemistry but it wasn't a terrible film besides that. I enjoyed it and would definetly watch it again but I do understand where you are coming from.
John Berchmans I thought the first one was terrible! I was so let down by how un-spidermany the entire movie felt even though it had all the key spidey moments and the fact that Andrew Garfield is a great Spiderman
Spiderman 2 is better than Amazing Spiderman 2. TASM 2 made a mess of electro who really has no motive of being a villian in this movie and that completely ruined it for everyone.
1) Best Movie of 2014: Boyhood (Pretty much is the closest we're ever going to get to seeing the meaning of life on film) 2) Worst Movie of 2014: Lucy (My god, not only was it boring, the ending was straight up laughable) 3) Best Performance of 2014: Michael Keaton in Birdman 4) Actor/Actress I'm Tired Of: Melissa McCarthy (She plays the same thing in EVERY MOVIE. I'm sick of her). 5) Best Movie Weapon of All Time: Lightsaber (come on, it's a freaking light sword, lol XD) 6) Best Movie Catchphrase: "Yippie-Ki-Yay Motherfucker" from the Die Hard series 7) Best Opening Scene: "Circle of Life" from The Lion King (Nothing comes close to that amazing piece of animation) 8) Worst Movie Ending: The Amazing Spider-Man 2 (The way they chose to end it with **spoiler alert** flash forwarding 4 months instead of ending the film on a bleak note just made me angry. There's nothing wrong with ending it with Peter giving up being Spider-Man. That would have made for a better ending to an already mediocre film. The ending ruined the film for me and made it one of the worst films of the year for me)
MotaShotta Well, it's just all based on opinion :) Everybody has one and we all have our reasons. I'm always open to listening to the opinions of others though (heck, I have quite a few friends that like TASM2 when I dislike it).
Boyhood! It took twelve fucking years to make! It's truly an amazing film. Terrible, awkward, cringe-inducing dialogue. Flat boring cinematography, no story to be invested at all in, plus a boringe lifeless character that we all end up hating at the end. And don't forget that it's really long too. I would say it almost feels twice its length. But did you know that it took 12 years to make?!
Acafer84 If you loved boyhood, you obviously haven't watched alot of films. It was for one of the biggest letdown and most dissapointing film i've ever seen.
Adrian Daniel Fortunately, whoever's doing the sound for their content is reasonably good at normalizing for volume, so the screams are loud instead of deafening.
Oh I didn't mean to target you with the 'shallow reason', I was mocking my own reasons! :-) I wish he removed the cap once for full appreciation purposes. (Gosh, "I am getting too old for this" fangirling!)
Next movie fight: Who is the Best music movie composer? For example: Hans Zimmer, James Horner, Alan Silvestri, Ennio Morricone, Howard Shore, John Powell, Danny Elfman, Michael Giaccino, and so on...
Ennio morricones soundtrack for mission to mars is my favourite movie score of all time. I listen to that all the time, go listen to it, it will move you.
I love the movie, but it has legitimate flaws so a person could dislike it with understanding it and also best movie of the decade? We're not even halfway through it let so that's a little much to call it that
exactly he says the movie is flawed because he knows nothing about physics and his sci fi knowledge id limited to fucking star wars lol what should he do instead lie by the daughters bed till she dies and leave the girl to die he already completed his promise to the daughter and also saved the whole fucking race
If the majority of people can't 'understand' the movie, then the criticism is perfectly justified, and one could argue that the movie missed it's mark.
Miles Teller did actually have knowledge of how to play the drums before hand as he played drums in rock band with his buddies in high school, he just didn't know how to play drums in a jazz band as that requires a different technique and approach to playing.
Am I the only one that was surprised when no one mentioned Adam Sandler or Melissa Mcarthy in the actors who we're most tired of. Adam Sandler has been making shit for the past couple years and Melissa Mcarthy plays the same damn character every single movie.
Finally, someone else agrees that Adam Sandler is the biggest actor that we're getting sick of and surprised they didn't even mentioned him for that category!
I'm surprised that nobody said Liam Neeson. Two lackluster action cash-grabs and a role in that Seth McFarlane shit heap. Don't even get me started on Taken 3
Adam Sandler did a solid vocal performance as Dracula in Hotel Transylvania. And Melissa McCarthy was the only thing that stopped me from walking out on Bridesmaids.
LUFC Holmesy he's good but he's overused too in movies that totally didn't need an actor like him. Look at the imitation game, his acting might have been as good as you want but he just doesn't fit for a role like Alan Turing, it isn't a smart choice to pick the archetype of the slender handsom ice-eyedman to portray a mathematician...
PLEASE, never let Andy be a contestant ever again. He tries to control everything and his indignation over losing a round is irritating. On the other hand, don't let him go back to hosting either because Dan is better at it (though he's missed on the Dan Cam.) Give Dan the time turner from Prisoner of Azkaban (or Akabar if you're Andy) so he can both host and fact check Problem solved! :D
Marko Ramius Yes to everything you just said, that and he was abserdly dishonest with his arguments (Miles Teller did play the fucking drums prior to Whiplash). Otherwise yeah, he's obnoxious.
Rhys Clark Interactive Media The point is he warned that the spoiler was coming and that's why op (and me) were grateful. We are not complaining about spoilers.
Mercedes Conway "Something other than Thor, but bigger than Only Lovers Left Alive" What do you mean by bigger? As far as a film being "bigger" goes, Avengers certainly was that. And as far as very interesting, challenging roles go (if that's what you meant), he'll get several chances to shine in upcoming years with films like Crimson Peak (potential masterpiece) and Ben Wheatley's next project. He's in quality superhero blockbusters as a main villain and in really good arthouse films. What else does he "need" (not trying to be rude, just curious)?
I didn't know about the new projects coming out, but I know him from some smaller things he's done that people really don't talk about. I also really enjoy his book readings, but people don't really pay attention to those either :P
What about Scott Pilgrim vs. The World? True, it may not have been heart-pounding or gut-wrenching, but it certainly was a surprise. You wouldn't expect the quiet normality that it brought on. And then once Knives was introduced, that beginning credits music was just so entertaining. It got you pumped for the movie and made you stay for the whole thing. Like I said, not the most exciting, but in terms of hooking you in, it's definitely up there.
Can somebody help me with this logic about Marvel? Stark once said that he was horrified that his creations are killing the american people and he shuts down his weapons division. And now, in Ultron, 6 yrs after the first movie, he starts making Ultron, a weapon, and he then kills a lot of americans. Isn't that contradicting Stark's motives in the first movie? I'm sure that many people will, as usual, bow down to marvel and say that this is the greatest marvel movie of all time and will yell at me if i say something bad. Call me a skeptic, but this will be glaring in not only my face, but many others and i'm just treading carefully before seeing this movie.
Best Movie the Year - Interstellar. Hate me I don't give a shit. The movie was almost completely scientifically accurate, was very enjoyable. Visually breathtaking. Yeah the ending could have been better but was no way the worst ending. Worst Film of 2014 - Either Million Ways to die the West or The Hobbit. Same reason Andy said for Seth MacFarlanes bullshit excuse of a Western, but for the Hobbit it was just fucking awful. I know I'm going to get hate, but the orcs had mother fucking giant fucking wurms that could FUCKING EAT THE GROUND.... and were never used? Also what happened to the big dudes catapults? Half the enemies just disappeared in this film, and it ended with the fucking eagles. What the fuck was that? WHY WERE THEY NOT THERE SOONER!?!? The only awesome part of this film was when the Eagle dropped a bear into the battle, but that scene lasted like 2 seconds. Terrible compared to any of the LOTR battles. Movie was so bad I had to use the word FUCK so many times to express how much it fucking sucked. Best Performance - Mathew Mcconaughey in Interstellar. Tell me that acting job wasn't amazing. Tired of? - Shia Lebeouf/Seth Rogan/James Franco. They all play the same mother fucker in every movie. I'd all Micheal Cera/Jessie Eisenberg because they play the same role and are bad at it but I can't recall a movie they were in this year. Best Movie Weapon of all time - The Deathstar Best Movie Catchphrase - Let them Fight Best Openning Scene - Lion King. So powerful yet so simple Worst Ending - Desolation of Smaug - I think this hurt the third movie actually. The ending was just too abrupt. I felt like they should have made the Third and Second movie it's own 5 hour long thing, then the Third movie wouldn't seem so terrible. But still... the Wurms....
I also like Interstellar. But I really did not like the love part. And I also did not like the ending. For me, the movie should have stopped when he was trapped in the black hole.
Best movie of 2014: Whiplash Worst movie of 2014: Transformers: Age of Extinction Best performance of 2014: J.K. Simmons in Whiplash Which actor/actress are we tired of: Johnny Depp Best movie weapon of all time: Lightsaber Best movie catch phrase: GREAT SCOTT! Best opening scene from a movie: Opening sequence of Saving Private Ryan Worst movie ending: Ending of A.I. Artificial Intelligence Best Schwarzenegger movie: Terminator 2: Judgement Day Coolest female protagonist: Sarah Connor Most depressing movie ever: Schindler's List Better spoof: Spaceballs because it parodies Star Wars, Galaxy Quest parodies Star Trek If I could unsee a movie it would be: Any of the Twilight movies
I'll be honest, I do like The 'Batch, but he isn't the Lawrence Olivier of the 2000s (as he was dubbed in the times a few weeks ago). People liked him in Sherlock, a decent, but not a particularly groundbreaking show, he was adequate as Smaug - but people seem to like anyone who does mo-cap these days because of an inherent association with Andy Serkis - and he delivered a performance as good as he could have with what he was given as Khan. The only project in which he really was screen stealing was as Alan Turning, so I don't really see either how we can be tired of him or how he is so incredible. The simple fact is, he's only really been a big name since Sherlock, and no one can prove themselves either way in merely 4 years.
Favorite movie of 2014 was Interstellar. I know some people don't like it but I found it to be an amazing experience. Nr. 2 would be Whiplash. Absolutely mind-blowingly great film with a performance for the ages by J.K Simmons.
Round 1 Enemy Round 2 The Amazing Spiderman - Franchise Killer Round 3 Andy Serkis - Dawn of the Apes...aka Apes on Horses Round 4 Jennifer Lawrence - The Fappening (no need to see her anymore) Round 5 Elder Wand - Harry Potter Round 6 "Water sucks, it really, really sucks" - The Waterboy Round 7 Halloween Round 8 The Amazing Spiderman 2 - The ending was literally the end of the trailer
Well you left "more" pretty undefined so I interpreted it as comparison. If you have a wand and I have a wand if you avada kedavra me and I you the elder wand will win. That's how harry beat voldemort. So in comparison his elder wand does kill "more" than any other. The definition for the "more" you just used to contest my claim is about affect. In that term no of course not.
I'm also sick of Cumberbatch. He WAS miscast as Khan (though, to be fair, remaking Wrath of Khan is a doomed endeavor). He's getting way too much too fast thanks to his hit TV show while great actors like Tim Curry and Doug Jones get overlooked. Tim Curry needs to get back to the big screen. It's been far too long since he played himself in a movie. And Doug Jones can act through 6+ hours of makeup. Give him a human role! And The Dark Knight is NOT the best superhero movie of all time! Christian Bale was an awful Batman and there were too many things that were hard to buy, like the school buses or The Joker knowing which particular ferry boats to put bombs on. It's a good movie, but saying it's better than Tim Burton's Batman or The Incredibles just because it's the most harsh or has the best themes (in execution, I say The Dark Knight fails by relying almost entirely on expositional dialogue to convey its themes) is not giving it enough time. Besides, Under the Red Hood EASILY overshadows any of Nolan's Batman films.
Have you seen the imitation game? Cumberbatch was magnificent and he deserves an oscar nomination for that performance. And calling minor conveniences in the plot, problems, is very ignorant of you. I could say the same thing about Tim Burton's Batman. For instance when the Joker enters the cathedral, Batman is the next person inside. Later he ends up fighting Joker's goons halfway up the tower, but where did they come from and how did they know the Joker was in there? Does it make sense that the Joker was running around with a 2 meter gun in his pocket? They forgot to transition from the mystery of who the winged freak was, that is the entire theme of the first 1/3 of the film, to a REPORTER finding out the truth and not even noticing. But this is the text book example of not seeing the forest for the trees. The Dark Knight is one of the tightest scripts I've seen. It has enough plot for an entire saga and its dripping with philosophical ambitions, not generally associated with blockbuster films. Of course it has to take a few shortcuts to keep its run time below astronomical (some would argue the film is still overlong). I could sit down and rip Vertigo apart for the completely 'unrealistic' storyline of the movie but I would be a fool to do that because few films balance the nature of obsession and deception as masterfully as Vertigo does. If you're looking for a realistic superhero movie, jokes on you. What Nolan's films do very well is they brilliantly blend pulp material with real world issues about terrorism, invasion of civil liberties, road to fascism etc and some breathtakingly powerful thematic moments (eg - the Joker leaning out of the police car). That's why they stand tallest in the otherwise shallow superhero genre. And exposition in the Dark Knight? The Dark Knight is the one Nolan film (yes, including Memento) where the exposition is breathless thanks to Batman Begins. All the exposition is prior to the Joker's encounter with the mob, which is like 20 mins into the movie. There's no build up after that. After that it unfolds like a symphony with a billion plot lines going on together (now that's a real issue). Tim Burton's Batman movies don't analyse themes, sure. But is that a sign of subtlety or superficiality? Btw, I think Batman Begins is up there with Dark Knight, imo.
Appolo Bozec What makes a movie realistic is how the people act. The themes of terrorism and fascist undertones (I personally didn't see any in there, but then I've only seen Dark Knight and its sequel once each whereas I've seen Burton's film four or five times since I got it for Christmas in 2013) make the movie *relevant*. Is it realistic for people to form an angry mob just because a terrorist made a threat? Last time I checked, people were not so quick to turn into animals. And, yes, I think Tim Burton's Batman is subtle, not superficial. The themes are more or less the same as Tim Burton's other movies, but they're not quite as in-your-face as they are in Corpse Bride or Edward Scissorhands. I actually didn't start seeing them until my second or third viewing when I was analyzing the film for a film class. Nolan's Dark Knight didn't seem to respect the audience's intelligence as much with the execution of its themes. That's my main problem with it: it spoon-feeds us its dilemmas and themes through dialog instead of letting us find them on our own. Even with that said, Under the Red Hood is still a superior film to either Batman or The Dark Knight. THAT is perfect superhero movie: great action, great dilemmas, great performances, great animation, and the only discussion it has is directly relevant to the plot.
1krani Now I get the problem. You've not seen the first film. The mob was introduced in Batman Begins. This was a sequel and it very much plays out like a Michael Mann crime film. The central theme of the Dark Knight was "You either die a hero or you live long enough to see yourself become the villain" which means that absolute power always corrupt. The analogy with Caesar's reign is perfect because the roman democracy was destroyed from the inside. It's the perfect example of how road to fascism was paved with good intentions. Batman can never win because ultimately when the freaks are out, he's the biggest threat to the city he defends. Through the film, Batman went from a heroic outcast to fascistic knight. He seemed less and less like a hero. He tortured people, he outrageously hacked the public's cellphones to find the Joker and even broke the one rule that separated him from the Joker, when he killed Dent. Doesn't this remind you of Bush's post 9/11 'War on terror' schemes to spy on the public and legalising renditions. I mean, come on how could you miss that? The Dark Knight is an outright condemnation of Bush's administration. Another theme of the Dark Knight is that morality is an illusion to shroud the underlying chaos. In the moment of desperation, everyone will drop there ethical code and embrace chaos. Morality is meaningless. Push hard enough and you have anarchy. It also talks about the fairness that arises in a realm of chaos because in a world of chaos, no one's protected more than anyone else. It also dwells in ideas such as - Crime and Anarchy are NOT allies, Idealism is much easier to corrupt than greed. Dent (who was an idealist willingly doing good) fell much harder than Batman (who acted partially out of greed) when Rachel died. It's about how light and dark always coexist (and every hero was 2 faces) and one brings out the other or as the Joker would say "freaks attract freaks". Batman is promoting vigilantism. He's attracting fake Batmans and other freaks like Joker but the movie very very cleverly shows that's not the full story. Batman is also attracted towards them (naturally of course). At the end of the film, he's not so different from them at all is he? But the central message of the Dark Knight (which is also the most disturbing one) is - In a world where there is no justice, there's no way to fight the system without falling into corruption, apathy or worse. This is where things get really dark and depressing. How do you fight back against a system without justice? You can create enough chaos to destroy the system, which is what the Joker does. You can become a criminal. Or as Dent saw fit, if the system is unjust, the decisions are unjust and so in a cruel world like this, it's just chance that makes the decisions. Batman, of course, has a solution that's no better. All this is subtle, visible only to those who greatly examine it. This is what I call immense thematic depth. Not since Apocalypse Now has a blockbuster dealt with so many powerful philosophical ideas at one go. Is it just me or is TimBurton's Batman coming off as awfully hollow in comparison. Watch Batman Begins and a lot of this will be more clear. And please be specific. When did you think the Dark Knight was spoon feeding you and what exactly did you think it was spoonfeeding you? The moral dilemma's were set up by the Joker in an attempt to expose the hypocrisy of society. The dilemma's don't ever touch on the real themes of the movie. The real themes of the movie are all abstract spewing out from the plot. It's not the easiest film to grasp though. It took me a while to get around it. Sorry for the long comment.
Appolo Bozec ... Sure. Whatever you say. All that talk about how Batman slowly becomes a fascistic knight by the end of the film only serves to highlight how un-Batman the Nolan movies are. Batman is a symbol of justice: uncorruptable, unbiased. If what you say is true and One more reason why I believe Tim Burton's Batman to be the superior Batman film. It's not the themes of the movie that make it good, it's how said themes are shown to us. In Batman, the themes are shown to us by what decisions the characters make and the consequences thereof. In The Dark Knight, the themes are presented to us via dialog. If you took out that long talk of, "When the chips are down, these 'civilized' people? They'll eat each other," that mob of people calling for Reese's head would suddenly seem very odd and out-of-place. Take out Gordon's bit about Batman not being the hero Gotham needs, and him taking the fall for Dent's murders seems rather stupid. And it STILL was a bad call, since it comes back to bite them all in the ass during The Dark Knight Rises. That's not to say every speech in The Dark Knight doesn't serve a point. The Joker's speech about how he's an agent of chaos was well placed because it doesn't exist merely to add thematic depth to the movie. It directly services the plot. The other speeches? Not so much. You could take them out and the plot would be more or less unaffected.
1krani He takes the blame because as I said "absolute power always corrupts". He lost the battle of wits to the Joker. Vigilantism is never healthy. That's why he took the blame, to destroy his symbol, thereby saving Dent's image. Yes I know, very un-Batman-y. Now why he came back in the Dark Knight Rises because the 'city needs him' is something I've never understood because that seems to contradict everything in both Batman Begins and the Dark Knight. Well, Nolan didn't write the original plot of the 3rd film. But sure you're entitled to your opinion just as I'm entitled to mine. We can agree to disagree.
There must've been some film magic or some crazy ass professional in there somewhere. Nobody can be that good without being professional. And for some reason, I doubt Miles Teller is THAT good...
Of course they are jealous of Benedict Cumberbatch, oh boy no suprise! And they didn't even mention Eddie Redmayne's performance I doubt they even watch the movie. Also Shailene woodley over performances like Felicity Jones and Rosamund Pike?! You people have no idea what you're talking about.
Best Opening Scene in a Movie In 1977 I was 16 at the opening of Star Wars, first weekend. Totally unprepared, the opening scene space battle, the entire theater fell silent our jaws on the floor, as the Star Destroyer flew above us, it seemed like forever, it took that ship to fly past. In that one scene all of movie watching was changed forever for me. It had an epicness, an awesomeness, that no other film has ever reached.
How the hell did the opening to Star Wars (New Hope) not make it as the best opening scene in a movie. Not only was it a great opening as a film but it changed the way movies opened from then on out. Nuts.
Boyhood was by far my favorite film of 2014 but it had absolutely nothing to do with the 12 year thing. It was so well directed, acted, and written, but one thing that people dont seem to mention is that its actually surprising really funny, emotional, relatable, and somehow entertaining. No one ever seems to mention that despite all its amazing technical achievements, its still really intriguing and entertaining.
Connor Moritz not a chance, Imitation Game was much better acted, much better directed and was a much more all round interesting story, the kid in Boyhood couldnt act to save his balls, and the girl couldnt act to save her life either
***** In the end Imitation Game was very good but kinda just another biopic with yet another big name in the lead. Linklater sets out to try to make unique films from the rest of the pack, which includes his past work
Connor Moritz yes Linklater did try to make a unique film, but the end product was so mediocre, there was a scope for greatness but it messed up bigtime
Agree on "Nightcrawler" being the best movie this year. But you gotta have to give the best performance to "Gyllenhaal" as well, he WAS the movie! But this year was one of the worst movie-wise! Couldn´t even think of my 5 great movies this year!
Oliver Bensusan I mean "GREAT" movies, not good or descent ones. Guardians, Apes and Winter Soldier were just okay Hollywood popcorn movies. But everyone has his taste, I guess I grew tired of those superhero films (Birdman excluded of course!)
You guys need to make more Movie Fights! It has become my favorite show on CZcams! I could watch a new one every day! For an hour... :) Keep up the good work. Team Rudnick! Dont even make the show without Hal, though...
Oh my god. Nick VS Andy VS Hal, JUDGED BY DAN?! I'm 3 minutes in and I don't think I've ever been so excited for a video. By the time it's over they'll all kill each other with knives.
I agree with Hal, The Village has the most memorable worst endings ever. Didn't Nick win the previous Movie Fight? Was this recorded before the previous show? Everyone seems to not know that this is Nick's 2nd win.
I can't believe Star Wars was not mentioned in best movie opening, I can't think of anything more atmospheric and Iconic than the star destroyer flying into shot from above
Am I the only one, who didn't like Boyhood at all? I was actually really bored with it. I mean yes, it is amazing that they filmed it in 12 years, but that does not make it a good movie.
All three of their choices for best movie were amazing but I just wanted to say that Raid 2 and Birdman fit all of their criteria and more in terms of rewatch ability and people will use those movies as templates down the road
Andy keeps repeating the fact that Miles Teller didn't know how to play the drums before Whiplash. Although I agree Whiplash was one of best movies of 2014, it should be noted that Teller had been playing the drums from an early age. This doesn't effect the movie or his performance and I'm sure it was brutal practicing for the film, but having Andy repeat a false fact about the actor doesn't prove his argument.
amazing spiderman 2 wasnt the best but it was nowhere near the worst. the romance part was good and the final dubstep battle was kindve unique and awesome.
Boyhood was the biggest drag of a movie ever imo. 3hrs of just whiney, pessimism. Whiplash and Nightcrawler were absolutely amazing (Jake an JK best performances)... Expecting hate, I think 2 of the best movies of 2014 (one of all time) were Dawn of the Planet of the Apes and Interstellar. Sorry. Not sorry.
boyhood is some dumb shit. it has no lasting impact for me as a person, film viewer, or critic. it is just boring and life-catching. guardians of the galaxy has something those other movies do not: passion for fun. it is a movie revelling in the amount of fun things it can have that relate to almost any audience. it has editing and shot design that no other director has gotten to touch on in quite a while, and the use of CGI visuals actually enhance the world and don't distract from the intended design. it has movie magic written all over it, and it will stand the test of time.
Round 7 is a great fight, but I reckon the intro to The Nightmare Before Christmas is still one of the greatest movie introductions of all time. Who doesn't love hearing that iconic theme of holiday scream twice a year; around late October and mid-December? Come on...
the kid from the santa clause..... jeez when i watched that as a kid, i hate the child! watch it now i still hate the wee child.... liked the film but would of improve if the kid died in some random action movie scene
Interstellar's ending was pretty fantastic when you look at the themes and purpose of the movie. Sure, it may seem a bit silly, but nearly so much of what people love about sci-fi is the ridiculous things which actually work. The whole bookcase/tesseract thing was needed, since it was hinted at throughout the movie. If you honestly didn't try to guess the explanation of the strange anomalies from the beginning inside the bedroom then you really are no that smart. Who else do you think sent those messages I mean come on lol
I dont like Marvel im a DC Fan, but honestly Gaurdians of the galaxy best movie of 2014, it had everything a movie needs. from a guy that typically hates on Marvel, this is a movie I watched in theatres havent done that since 2010. bought it on blueray, havent done that since the release of nolans batman trilogy on blueray. And constantly rewatch, I can watch that movie anytime. I couldnt finish boyhood, BORING! Its for drama nerds, and art house fans, Boy hood is for people that think you need an art adegree to enjoy movies. Night crawler, was meh! and I dont care and I dont like braffs style. Gaurdians of the galaxy is a movie everyone can enjoy, around the world. Awesome universal movie, its the new star wars.
*ahem* "Boyhood" was boring, predictable, and I hated sitting through it. I honestly do not get the appeal of it. "Nightcrawler" I enjoyed, but I really wasn't blown away by it. Gyllenhaal was good, but the story didn't quite work for me. "Whiplash" is one of my favorites of the year. It was awesome. Personally, I'd say "Birdman" is the BEST film of the year, although my *favorite* film of the year is, "Guardians of the Galaxy".
I didn't see "Wish I Was Here", but "AMWTDITW" was BAD. My choice for worst this year, though, is "The Captive", which was a thriller without the thrills and a confusing non-linear plot filled with stupid people. Second behind that is, "Sex Tape", which was a Sony Pictures film advertising the Apple iPad that wasn't funny in the slightest.
Who Cares A guy in underwear? The overthetop acting and overreacting from micheal keaton? The boring storyline? The cliche dialog which was intriguing and pretentious? Shooting yourself in the nose? These things are terrible. Watch Pulp Fiction instead. Do I need to say more?
Who Cares Guy in Underwear is just stupid. And transformers is Even more boring than Birdman. I watched the beginning of birdman and i thought i was watching Whiplash.
Best Opening Scene is insanely hard...Jurassic Park, the tracking shot in Gravity, the Star Destroyer flying overhead in Star Wars...but in recent memory I'd say the total overhaul of the gun barrel scene in Casino Royale with the black and white opening, cool/suave dialogue, bathroom fight, and transition into one of the best Bond songs ever.
I know the Screen Junkies will disagree with almost all of these, but here are my answers to every single question in this episode. Best Movie of 2014- Interstellar Worst Movie of 2014- The Amazing Spiderman 2 Best Performance of 2014- Shailene Woodley in Fault in Our Stars Actor/Actress I'm Tired of- Liam Neeson (every movie is basically the plot of taken anymore) Best Movie Weapon- Death Star Best Movie Catchphrase- "Life is like a box of chocolates, you never know what you're gonna get." Best Opening Movie Scene- Halloween (1978) Worst Movie Ending- Knowing (Starring Nicholas Cage in case you don't know it) Feel free to dispute me.
1. How to Train Your Dragon 2 2. Left Behind and Kirk Cameron's Saving Christmas 3. Jake Gyllenhaal in Nightcrawler 4. Melissa McCarthy 5. The Holy Hand Grenade of Antioch 6. "I'll be back" (pre-2000s) 7. Lord of the Rings: Fellowship of the Ring 8. AI: Artificial Intelligence
i hate when people say, "boyhood wouldn't be that great if it wasn't filmed over 12 years." it was, and that adds to the film. that is a terrible excuse for hating it. you can literally use that excuse for every movie ever. example: darth vader wouldn't be as cool if he wasn't voiced by james earl jones. or there will be blood wouldn't be as good if daniel day lewis wasn't in it as hal says in this video, "you can use 'what if' for anything."
So I religiously watch Movie fights every Sunday and then try and tell the people I live with about it cos i love it that much. I think I've missed a few so I'm going back! I love Andy and Dan, they're such cool funny guys. Viva la Movie fights!
next year instead of "let them fight' maybe Bane's "let the games begin"
The dark knight rises>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>Godzilla
Isn't that SAW?
I thought that was Ron Burgundy? Eyohhhh.
How about "Will You Fight?" From Braveheart?
jakdax77 that's "let's play a game"
Thank You Screen Junkies , You've inspired my dad and I to start making CZcams videos and now we're about to hit a milestone!
subbed
lol ur dad is funny
Best weapon of all time...? Death Star. All you need to do is fix the exhaust port weakness and you're golden.
They fixed it in the second Death Star.
greatest weapon of all time is man itself!
***** Yeah, because replacing an exhaust port the size of vermin with a hole the size of a jet fighter is a viable solution
Allen Babylon What? The second Death Star had a huge network of millimetre-wide ports that would seal automatically if an energy surge was detected. If you're referring to the ships flying into the superstructure you should know that's only possible because they hadn't finished building it, hence the shield.
***** Ah. Yeah I didn't know that. Cool.
Can't believe nobody picked Inglorious Basterds opening sequence, that thing is incredible!
I wonder if anyone can argue Boyhood is a good movie without mentioning the 12 year production
+Alexander S. (AlphaAxle) respect man, the 12 years was really the only appealing thing about it
I will argue it.
+Alexander S. (AlphaAxle) That's like saying Whiplash is a good movie without mentioning the acting.
I don't understand why Amazing Spiderman 2 gets so much hate!!!
I hated the first one and I really really enjoyed the 2nd one so much.
How can you hate the first one!
*****
Id say the whole reason I liked it was probably Andrew and Emma's chemistry but it wasn't a terrible film besides that. I enjoyed it and would definetly watch it again but I do understand where you are coming from.
John Berchmans
I thought the first one was terrible! I was so let down by how un-spidermany the entire movie felt even though it had all the key spidey moments and the fact that Andrew Garfield is a great Spiderman
Really, I mean how old are you? Amazing Spider Man 2 was incredibly crappy, I rather watch Spider Man 3 (2007)
Spiderman 2 is better than Amazing Spiderman 2. TASM 2 made a mess of electro who really has no motive of being a villian in this movie and that completely ruined it for everyone.
1) Best Movie of 2014: Boyhood (Pretty much is the closest we're ever going to get to seeing the meaning of life on film)
2) Worst Movie of 2014: Lucy (My god, not only was it boring, the ending was straight up laughable)
3) Best Performance of 2014: Michael Keaton in Birdman
4) Actor/Actress I'm Tired Of: Melissa McCarthy (She plays the same thing in EVERY MOVIE. I'm sick of her).
5) Best Movie Weapon of All Time: Lightsaber (come on, it's a freaking light sword, lol XD)
6) Best Movie Catchphrase: "Yippie-Ki-Yay Motherfucker" from the Die Hard series
7) Best Opening Scene: "Circle of Life" from The Lion King (Nothing comes close to that amazing piece of animation)
8) Worst Movie Ending: The Amazing Spider-Man 2 (The way they chose to end it with **spoiler alert** flash forwarding 4 months instead of ending the film on a bleak note just made me angry. There's nothing wrong with ending it with Peter giving up being Spider-Man. That would have made for a better ending to an already mediocre film. The ending ruined the film for me and made it one of the worst films of the year for me)
Except for 8, those are all terrible answers.
MotaShotta Well, it's just all based on opinion :) Everybody has one and we all have our reasons. I'm always open to listening to the opinions of others though (heck, I have quite a few friends that like TASM2 when I dislike it).
Boyhood was disappointing and Keaton wasn't the best.
#2 Penguins if Madigascar it had NO plot line
Lucy was not that bad
Somebody has been watching redletyermedia
LuisLEONFC73 BOYHOOD it took 12 years to make!
LuisLEONFC73 Boyhood is easily one of the worst movies i've ever seen.
LuisLEONFC73 I FUCKING LOVE BBOYHOOOOD!!! It should win an Oscar for every year it took to make it!
Acafer84 If you loved boyhood, you obviously haven't watched alot of films. It was for one of the biggest letdown and most dissapointing film i've ever seen.
Giving Dan more screen time is a good idea, he's very good as the voice of reason.
yeah and mundy isn't screaming all the time that's also refreshening
Also, Andy has a bad habit of yelling into the mic. Having Dan be host keeps voices a little more under control.
Adrian Daniel Fortunately, whoever's doing the sound for their content is reasonably good at normalizing for volume, so the screams are loud instead of deafening.
***** Totally cute! A very shallow reason for having more Dan on screen but yeah, he's hot! ;-)
Hans zimmer
James Newton Howard too!
Ennie Morricone made these weird but great music pieces to the dollar trilogy, so I'd go with him.
Hans Zimmer or John Williams, can't decide
Ennio morricones soundtrack for mission to mars is my favourite movie score of all time. I listen to that all the time, go listen to it, it will move you.
Interstellar is the best movie of the decade
Just make sure you understand it before criticizing it
loooool
I love the movie, but it has legitimate flaws so a person could dislike it with understanding it and also best movie of the decade? We're not even halfway through it let so that's a little much to call it that
Reuben Chandler-Wall haha
exactly he says the movie is flawed because he knows nothing about physics and his sci fi knowledge id limited to fucking star wars lol what should he do instead lie by the daughters bed till she dies and leave the girl to die he already completed his promise to the daughter and also saved the whole fucking race
Parker Bai I swear Andy doesn't know what the fuck he's talking about sometimes.
The best movie of 2014 is INTERSTELLAR. Do you wanna know why ?
Because your batman?
Because you're Batman? *
Because his BATMAN?!
is it because you like it? oooooooooooooohhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh broke the internet asdfasdfsdab vfgda
Beecuz hez Batman!
Am I the only one that was surprised when no one mentioned Adam Sandler or Melissa Mcarthy in the actors who we're most tired of. Adam Sandler has been making shit for the past couple years and Melissa Mcarthy plays the same damn character every single movie.
Agreed about Adam Sandler. I'd add Shia LaBeouf to the list.
RealCoolGuy Media. After he did that pseudo-intellectual sex movie, he was everywhere, trying to be polemic or something.
Round 4 was shocking benedict Cumberbatch is in a lot because he's good
No
No what
LUFC Holmesy he's good but he's overused too in movies that totally didn't need an actor like him. Look at the imitation game, his acting might have been as good as you want but he just doesn't fit for a role like Alan Turing, it isn't a smart choice to pick the archetype of the slender handsom ice-eyedman to portray a mathematician...
BubuSnow93 he was great in the imitation game, have you seen it. He looks more like Alan Turing than most biopic actors
RckerMom87 how manny tv and films featuring him have you seen
PLEASE, never let Andy be a contestant ever again. He tries to control everything and his indignation over losing a round is irritating.
On the other hand, don't let him go back to hosting either because Dan is better at it (though he's missed on the Dan Cam.)
Give Dan the time turner from Prisoner of Azkaban (or Akabar if you're Andy) so he can both host and fact check Problem solved! :D
Agreed. He's like that annoying commenter online, but in real life. Ugh.
Marko Ramius Yes to everything you just said, that and he was abserdly dishonest with his arguments (Miles Teller did play the fucking drums prior to Whiplash). Otherwise yeah, he's obnoxious.
Thank you for spoiler alert at 11:08 really appreciate it
Much better than last time when the "spoiler alert" came after the actual spoiler xD
THE TITLE IS BEST FILM OF 2014 AND ITS A MOVIE FIGHT, THIS ISNT A SPOILER FREE REVIEW
lol, the moment he said spoiler alert, i immediately remove my headphone :v
Rhys Clark Interactive Media The point is he warned that the spoiler was coming and that's why op (and me) were grateful. We are not complaining about spoilers.
I stopped it, then watched the whole movie(which was absolutely amazing) then came back to watch the video
I adore Tom Hiddleston. I wish he had more love.
he gets ton of love. why would you think he doesnt?
He needs something new. Something other than Thor, but bigger than Only Lovers Left Alive.
Mercedes Conway "Something other than Thor, but bigger than Only Lovers Left Alive"
What do you mean by bigger?
He needs more love than Cumberbatch.
I must say that Mark Wahlberg is the actor that I'm most tired of.. The dude hasn't made a decent movie in a long time now
Lone Survivor
Jack Jansen yep, Mark Whalberg was AMAZING in that movie, as was the entire movie.
^ Exactly
The Fighter was a great movie. Granted, it was mostly great because of Christian Bale, but Mark Wahlberg gave a solid performance.
Lone survivor was good, he also had great performances in "The Italian Job" and "Shooter"
The new fight intro should be "ARE YOU NOT ENTERTAINED" from gladiator
Holy shit, I totally agree! Everyone thumbs that up so they can see!
i think that is better for the ending of the video... closure
Give this man some thumbs up !
Miles teller did know how to play the drums before whiplash. He grew up playing the drums...
2021 still watching
Boyhood was a horrible movie. It was sooooo boring. It was predictable and it was crap
Screen Junkies
Best opening Scene in a movie? --- Inglorious Bastards
No shit its tarentino
Thanos yup, pulp fiction and django for instance had great openings
What about Scott Pilgrim vs. The World? True, it may not have been heart-pounding or gut-wrenching, but it certainly was a surprise. You wouldn't expect the quiet normality that it brought on. And then once Knives was introduced, that beginning credits music was just so entertaining. It got you pumped for the movie and made you stay for the whole thing. Like I said, not the most exciting, but in terms of hooking you in, it's definitely up there.
guardians of the galaxy
Star Wars???
THANK. YOU. Finally, someone not blinded by marvel. Logic. Fuck yes!
But you know! Greater good... people change and... and.. uhm no, i dont get it either :/
This is why you don't change origins stories!
Amur Wolverine What was iron man's original origin?
Statement was aimed at Ultrons origin. Ultron was created by Henry Pym, otherwise known as Ant-Man.
Best Movie Weapon of all time - The Deathstar
Best Movie Catchphrase - Let them Fight
Best Openning Scene - Lion King. So powerful yet so simple
Worst Ending - Desolation of Smaug - I think this hurt the third movie actually. The ending was just too abrupt. I felt like they should have made the Third and Second movie it's own 5 hour long thing, then the Third movie wouldn't seem so terrible. But still... the Wurms....
Interstellar was my best movie too. It used to be the Lego movie before that
agree in almost everything, but I think there's more than a few worst than the hobbit
Interstellar was amazing. Interstellar and The Lego Movie were my favorite movies of the year.
In my opinion, Interstellar ending was amazing.. I don't understand why the ending gets so much hate.
I also like Interstellar. But I really did not like the love part. And I also did not like the ending. For me, the movie should have stopped when he was trapped in the black hole.
Best movie of 2014: Whiplash
Worst movie of 2014: Transformers: Age of Extinction
Best performance of 2014: J.K. Simmons in Whiplash
Which actor/actress are we tired of: Johnny Depp
Best movie weapon of all time: Lightsaber
Best movie catch phrase: GREAT SCOTT!
Best opening scene from a movie: Opening sequence of Saving Private Ryan
Worst movie ending: Ending of A.I. Artificial Intelligence
Best Schwarzenegger movie: Terminator 2: Judgement Day
Coolest female protagonist: Sarah Connor
Most depressing movie ever: Schindler's List
Better spoof: Spaceballs because it parodies Star Wars, Galaxy Quest parodies Star Trek
If I could unsee a movie it would be: Any of the Twilight movies
What movie are you most excited for in 2015?
I think Star Wars and Avengers
Star Wars VII
Tarantino's The Hateful Eight
Star Wars The Force Awakens!
Avengers: Age of Ultron
WTF HAL
BENEDICT IS AWESOME
No.
The Suicidal Viper I saw someone liked your comment
Then I checked
And I wasn't suprised when I saw you're the one who liked it
The Suicidal Viper He kinda is, dude. He saved my life.
1. Interstellar
2. Noah
3. Michael Keaton in Birdman
4. Johnny Depp
5. Scaramanga's golden gun
6. I'll be back
7.Inglorious basterds
8. Knowing
Noah was complete shit 😂
During the best weapon part, I was literally yelling at my screen "DEATH STAR! SAY DEATH STAR!"
Movie Fights is great! Never stop! Let Andy be on the panel again! Who is the best swordfighting character?
Kinda cheating by saying this but Yoda.
Zatochi maybe
***** Nah, Yoda isn't the best guy in swordfighting. I'd say some samurai guy.
jokesterr119 Zatoichi is awesome. He's so epic.
The Dread Pirate Roberts...
Favorite movie of 2014 was Interstellar. I know some people don't like it but I found it to be an amazing experience. Nr. 2 would be Whiplash. Absolutely mind-blowingly great film with a performance for the ages by J.K Simmons.
Best weapon: Iron Man suit. easy
+Solomon Beckles What about the MegaZord?
+Solomon Beckles Death star actually
+Solomon Beckles UZI with (as in every movie) unlimited ammo.
+Solly B First and best that popped to mind was The Proton Packs ala Ghostbusters.
+Zane peterkovic why would you will a sun just to load a weapon ONCE?
Round 1 Enemy
Round 2 The Amazing Spiderman - Franchise Killer
Round 3 Andy Serkis - Dawn of the Apes...aka Apes on Horses
Round 4 Jennifer Lawrence - The Fappening (no need to see her anymore)
Round 5 Elder Wand - Harry Potter
Round 6 "Water sucks, it really, really sucks" - The Waterboy
Round 7 Halloween
Round 8 The Amazing Spiderman 2 - The ending was literally the end of the trailer
What's so great about the Elder Wand? Does its Avada Kadavra kill "more" than another wand's?
Actually yes
Isaac Johnson So how does that work exactly? It makes you more dead than regular wands?
Well you left "more" pretty undefined so I interpreted it as comparison. If you have a wand and I have a wand if you avada kedavra me and I you the elder wand will win. That's how harry beat voldemort. So in comparison his elder wand does kill "more" than any other. The definition for the "more" you just used to contest my claim is about affect. In that term no of course not.
Isaac Johnson Harry Potter beat Voldemort because the wand never belonged to Voldemort.
nightcrawler had a great performance.. boyhood was a great idea... Whiplash was THE best movie of 2014
I'm also sick of Cumberbatch.
Appolo Bozec
What makes a movie realistic is how the people act.
Appolo Bozec
... Sure. Whatever you say.
All that talk about how Batman slowly becomes a fascistic knight by the end of the film only serves to highlight how un-Batman the Nolan movies are. Batman is a symbol of justice: uncorruptable, unbiased.
If what you say is true and
One more reason why I believe Tim Burton's Batman to be the superior Batman film.
I don't understand what everyone is complaining about. Interstellar was amazing.
Both Nightcrawler and Whiplash was better movie than Boyhood easily
Instead of let them fight it should be the here we go line from the dark knight
The Schmoes already use that sound bite
Miles Teller has been playing the drums since he was 15 Andy. Nobody can learn to play the drums like that in that period of time.
Best Opening Scene in a Movie
In 1977 I was 16 at the opening of Star Wars, first weekend.
Funny that Andy says he’s tired of Johnny Depp considering making videos about Depp is a big part of what made his new channel popcorn planet
Out of the 3 movies Iam definietly gonna say whiplash is the best movir of the year and i totally agree. I definietly would want to watch it again
Cumberbatch is a great actor and people are not getting tired of him, He's getting work cos he's good at his job
No movie fights this week?! I guess I'll just rewatch this one to get my fix. It was a good-in
How the hell did the opening to Star Wars (New Hope) not make it as the best opening scene in a movie.
Connor Moritz it's boring as fucking batshit, like watching paint dry, and its really not relatable at all, it's fucking crap
***** Ahem better than Imitation Game ahem ahem
Agree
My top 5 would be:
1. Guardians of the Galaxy
2. 22 Jump Street
3. Birdman
4. The Babadook
5. Dawn of the Planet of the Apes
Interstellar, Nightcrawler, Fury, Foxcatcher, Guardians, Planet of the Apes, Winter Soldier, Birdman etc.
Oliver Bensusan I mean "GREAT" movies, not good or descent ones. Guardians, Apes and Winter Soldier were just okay Hollywood popcorn movies. But everyone has his taste, I guess I grew tired of those superhero films (Birdman excluded of course!)
"Okay Hollywood popcorn movies" lol not really, did you even watch them? This isn't Spider-Man or Transformers we're talking about here.
Please do Bane ' s "let the Games begin" for the opening fight comment!!
You guys need to make more Movie Fights! It has become my favorite show on CZcams! I could watch a new one every day! For an hour... :)
Keep up the good work.
"Let the games begin" from The Dark Knight Rises should be the intro
I can't believe Star Wars was not mentioned in best movie opening, I can't think of anything more atmospheric and Iconic than the star destroyer flying into shot from above
Am I the only one, who didn't like Boyhood at all? I was actually really bored with it. I mean yes, it is amazing that they filmed it in 12 years, but that does not make it a good movie.
boyhood was friggin awful ur not alone at all. Didn't finish it and never will.
It is a good movie. Some people find it boring, whats the big deal?
Not at all. Most people on the internet hate it.
Loved Hal instantly when he went with Nightcrawler for his choice
What Harry Potter character should get their own movie?
Harry's son the one who was named after albus and Severus. I think that would be awesome!
Mrs. Norris
Luna Lovegood
Colin creevy
Cupkaka KAT why, that would just be the same movie
No wonder Jake Gyllenhaal was robbed of that Oscar when people are out here saying Keaton's performance is the best in the decade.....
Interesting topic for your next movie fight: What is the best movie soundtrack?
the good, the bad and the ugly
David Howard crouching tiger, hidden dragon, the excorcist
David Howard I didn't watch because everyone appears to be depressed
the departed, american hustle, pulp fiction, reservoir dogs
Paris Texas was a great original soundtrack.
WTF Nick was right with the Lethal Weapon quote and they still disqualified him. Jason shouldn’t be fact-checker.
SHAILENE WOODLEY???? andy.... im dissapointed.... again
I miss fun fights like this, the new ones are so much more serious. these guys are having so much fun here
All three of their choices for best movie were amazing but I just wanted to say that Raid 2 and Birdman fit all of their criteria and more in terms of rewatch ability and people will use those movies as templates down the road
Also for best opening scene saving private ryan I think It counts
The Raid 2 is still my favorite movie of the year
Raul Mejia nice to know there are people who agree with me on that
Wesley Crawford
The opening scene of SVP is at the cemetery. Think on this show you'd lose on a technicality :)
Nathan Brookes oh I guess that's true, even though it transfers into D-day but ya damn haha I love that scene
Andy keeps repeating the fact that Miles Teller didn't know how to play the drums before Whiplash. Although I agree Whiplash was one of best movies of 2014, it should be noted that Teller had been playing the drums from an early age. This doesn't effect the movie or his performance and I'm sure it was brutal practicing for the film, but having Andy repeat a false fact about the actor doesn't prove his argument.
amazing spiderman 2 wasnt the best but it was nowhere near the worst. the romance part was good and the final dubstep battle was kindve unique and awesome.
best movie weapon? iron man suit (drops mic walks off stage)
Sorry. Not sorry.
What about Birdman?
The two worst movies of 2014 were Divergent and Ouija
Best animated series? for next Movie Fight
"Listen I'm not a substitute teacher." - Dan Murrel
*Everyone else continues to laugh like a bunch of rowdy high schoolers* 😂
That guy shouting all the time really pissed me off.
which one
Andy is it?
the usual host
Hal?
BKFILMS Nah I meant Andy. I was new to the channel when I wrote this.
boyhood is some dumb shit. it has no lasting impact for me as a person, film viewer, or critic. it is just boring and life-catching.
guardians of the galaxy has something those other movies do not: passion for fun. it is a movie revelling in the amount of fun things it can have that relate to almost any audience. it has editing and shot design that no other director has gotten to touch on in quite a while, and the use of CGI visuals actually enhance the world and don't distract from the intended design. it has movie magic written all over it, and it will stand the test of time.
If I could unwatch a movie, it would be Sucker Punch.
I want to unwatch son of the mask
RokyBalboa99 Skyline for me!
RokyBalboa99 I never watched this one. I saw the trailer and knew it wasn't for me.
Marshal Sigismund I haven't watched this one eihter. My friends warned me it was garbage and I decided to listen to them..
PCAriza Good for you, I watched it with my parents and my brother in the cinema, and I really would like my 2 hours back :D
Round 7 is a great fight, but I reckon the intro to The Nightmare Before Christmas is still one of the greatest movie introductions of all time. Who doesn't love hearing that iconic theme of holiday scream twice a year; around late October and mid-December? Come on...
Movie Fights ?: who's the most annoying child/tween in a movie??
hAaH. lmAo!! Or Dakota from WarofWorlds annoying ass screaming threw the whole flick n sheet.
Jaden Smith (After Earth)
Dakota Fanning was great in I am Sam and Man on Fire thgh. But yea, really tired of Kristen Stewart!
the kid from the santa clause..... jeez when i watched that as a kid, i hate the child! watch it now i still hate the wee child.... liked the film but would of improve if the kid died in some random action movie scene
Kid from Godzilla 2014
I don't like Cumberbatch at all. I've never understood the love. He looks weird and his acting is a B at best.
1: Birdman
2: Lucy
3: Edward Norton in Birdman
4: Bruce Willis
5: Iron Man Suit
6: Yipee Kayai Motherfucker
7: Star Wars A New Hope
Wats up with all the unhealthy obsession with Star Wars? I mean "I don't like Star Wars"... There I said it. Sue me!
nothing wrong with not liking Star Wars.
Star Trek is better anyway.
Logan Palmer Star Trek is shit.
Go to hell.
Its for drama nerds, and art house fans,
Boy hood is for people that think you need an art adegree to enjoy movies.
Night crawler, was meh!
and I dont care and I dont like braffs style.
Gaurdians of the galaxy is a movie everyone can enjoy, around the world.
Awesome universal movie, its the new star wars.
Yeah but did you see Captain America 2? Maybe it's not a universally appreciable movie but personally I liked it a bit better than Guardians.
kolideoskope me too.
kolideoskope I think Cap 2 was a better movie, but Guardians was fun as hell, and that soundtrack? 11/10
***** garbage is too strong a word bro.
I thought groot was meh, and rocket was predictable the star lord character carried the movie just fine.
vargulf19 nah, dont like it... another thing to hate about it, gets praise for stuff nolans batman gets hate over.
*ahem*
"Boyhood" was boring, predictable, and I hated sitting through it.
Where's the movie fights episode for today?? I love watching these every Sunday
I love Dan.
Interstellar was the Best Movie of 2014!
Charles Testrake so overated the acting and cinematography aren't even on the same level as birdman or whiplash
I know im a month late but that movie was way to confusing
Headhunter 755 Birdman is Crap! Whiplash is different than Interstellar. But Birdman sucked.
Boyhood sucked SO bad, 3 hours of absolutely mind numbing mediocrity and uninteresting characters
Birdman is the best movie of 2014. End of.
no.
Yes
but really though, no it wasn't
Madmoe999 I think it was. It was well-directed and well-acted and was incredible
+fangirlashley well personally i found both Whiplash and Nightcrawler more entertaining, but i guess we just have different opinions :)
Boyhood was so awful
Lol it's sad that people like to use that as a argument.
Ikr, the only argument that people have is 'it took 12 years to make' when I don't care if it took 12 months or 11 millenia to make, it still sucked
YEAH MAN BUT IT'S DRY HEAT!
Judge Dredd
Hey Dredd when is your sequel from 2012 coming?
How long did Boyhood take to make?
Anyone who says ınerstellar was amazing and Boyhood sucked dont understand anything about the cınema at all period...
"My weapon has a family" that was too much lol
I love these 4 guys together, it's like 4 best friends hanging out and talkin' shit about shit.
I know the Screen Junkies will disagree with almost all of these, but here are my answers to every single question in this episode.

6. "I'll be back" (pre-2000s)
7. Lord of the Rings: Fellowship of the Ring
8. AI: Artificial Intelligence
i hate when people say, "boyhood wouldn't be that great if it wasn't filmed over 12 years." it was, and that adds to the film. that is a terrible excuse for hating it. you can literally use that excuse for every movie ever. example: darth vader wouldn't be as cool if he wasn't voiced by james earl jones. or there will be blood wouldn't be as good if daniel day lewis wasn't in it
as hal says in this video, "you can use 'what if' for anything."
I can't believe none of them went with Saving Private Ryan for opening sequence...
Love Andy's weapon sounds effect. You guys a awesome job with these fights.
So I religiously watch Movie fights every Sunday and then try and tell the people I live with about it cos i love it that much.
I think I've missed a few so I'm going back!
I love Andy and Dan, they're such cool funny guys. Viva la Movie fights!
Am I the only one to say that not only The Raid 2 was the best action movie of 2014, but the best movie of the year as well?!
