- Street Sounds Electro 1 Full Album - 1983
Street Sounds is the 'Godfather' of the modern compilation album and its format became the template for the labels that came later. The concept of each album... to literally represent the sound of the moment... full length versions and the highest quality.
The compilation albums and tracks released by Street Sounds have directly influenced and defined hundreds of thousands of people’s lives and have also been substantially responsible for today’s mainstream and street music culture. Street Sounds has been accredited by numerous journalists and DJs, including Paul Gambaccini, Bob Kilbourn and James Hamilton as pioneering Electro, Hip Hop and House in the UK. Numerous publications and other media have documented the importance of Street Sounds to popular culture.
All of the Electro Albums are a Massive Blast from the Past for me, every Album brings back Some Great Memories as a kid growing up in the 80's... Hope you Enjoy! :)

So sad that people put posts like this just to get likes. Shame on you!
Moved to England from U.S. in 81 to 85 (11 to 15 years old) . Enrolled in a British high school. Was there to see the Hip Hop movement/Breakdancing/Popping arrive and take off. These "Tapes" bring back so many memories. Not sure if they were big in America, but they were huge in England. Thank you for the upload!
Massive to us in England ❤
Still breaking to these tunes 41 years later.Just ache a bit more after lol😂Legendary times & tunes❤

Yeah, those blue and red Adidas cagoules with a piece painted on the back. Back in the day, Kangol caps, Cazals, Double-V goose jackets, nameplate buckles and Puma States with fat laces. All really hard to find at the time, all real easy to find now.

Still sounds as good in 2024 as the first day I bought this back in the day 😂

My childhood listen to music. All the Electros ❤
I remember these tapes from the 80s.. My mates older brother had them all, and used to blast them out on the local park after school, on his American stylie cassette player... The shoulder held one, with the 2 detachable speakers! 🔊🔊...
Happier times eh? 😕😉😉😉
Happy days

Snap My crew was Street Freaks ✌❤
stuff of Legends. That gradual fade up intro was, for me, the birth of Hip Hop! Absolute stone cold classic.
This Electro 1, was the best of the series..others came close, but this holds its own even now.
Definitely!! This one and Electro 9 for me!!
@@mackybmx The one with Roxanne Shante..who was twenty years ahead of the Rap curve in terms of delivery and speed of thought.
Crucial and Electro 1,paved the way !!!
Just flicking back through time I was 13 me and my friend walking around the village each carrying a ghetto blaster, good times I think 1arms longer than the other
This music revolutionised hifi..suddenly you needed direct drives, proper separates, equalisers..otherwise your system was getting blown halfway through the party!
Still aa good as it was nearly 40 years ago....pure quality 👌
1 and 9 are probably my favourites!! ☺️☺️
strong orientated still today on this oldschool stuff. I was twelve back then in 1984-85 . These classics are best stuff on the planet 4 me! Nr. 9 was the first Electro Vinyl i've bought in 1985. Thanks to the Artists ,Mastermind and Morgan Khan!
Electro 9 is probably one of my favourites!! ☺️☺️
My break dancing days 😍
Makes be want to do a windmill into a backspin. I'd be in hospital now for a month though at age 56 😁
@Welsh Jim you never know man with just the right amount of alcohol and ketamin you might be able to bust a few windmills,😂
From a 52yo ex b boy who hasn't bust a windmill in 10 years
Superb the fact that all the tracks mix into the next...genius
My true love is THIS!
When this shit hit I was mesmerized at 18 yrs old .
The sweet sound of vinyl
Thank you for reminding me of some great times.......
This album is just perfection.

These records pathed my life. 🏴

Your love is real...👍
1983 boombox god
This music always reminds me of NYC and london in the 1980s
This was the album that started my journey into hip hop and scratching. I have them all on cassette but now I wish I had them on vinyl. Went to UK fresh 86 because of this album. Happy days 😊
That’s cool man, are you still doing it? I think the albums are still available on discogs!! 😁😁👍

@@mackybmx I haven't done any scratching since my daughter was born about 13 years ago but I have recently got my decks and mixer set up, I just need to get round to buying a new power supply for the mixer. I have just been watching the likes of C2C, Kid Koala, the Fresherthans, scratch perverts, do Yoda to name but a few. I went to the DMC in London about 20 years ago which was mental. Give it time and I'll eventually get the Electro series and the Streetsounds albums on vinyl. 😁👍
I went to that. Happy days.
@@beradogs922 me too
There is this thing that rhymes with orrent. Vinyl rips. All of 'em.
Thanks a million!!
Wow this made me dancing when I was 7
Found a damaged cassette of this sitting on a bench outside my school in 1983. It was the start of my lifelong love of Electro - and hip hop. This and Mike Allen's show on Capital Radio.
Wicked who had the UK electro album and remember UK fresh at Wembley stadium
I’m sure I have the UK album somewhere!! 😁
@@mackybmx yea me too it wasn't as good as the US Electro Albums but still cool! I used to piss people off on A sunday going round on my BMX in the 1980s Playing tapes on my Ghetto Blaster lol. The 80s sunday was a rest day lol in the UK. The fact it had the Union jack the front cover was Awesome lol the Americans would say!

Thankyou!!
Still got this album but it's pretty scratched.. Literally!
Yeah, have the same issue with a few of mine... literally scratched the death out of them when I was a kid! I'm pretty sure you can still get the albums on Discogs.com 🙂

The STREET SOUNDS album series had it's influence here in Canada with Toronto's earliest dance music publication which shared the same name.
Epic sounds
USAF Lakenheath Uk lifting in the gym. Memories
I saw a guy on a BMX the other day, he was our age.
I'm 48... I still ride BMX!!
When this album came out I had one of the biggest getoblarsters going it was a crown and that tune heads every where I took it it had a I cassette like on a car stereo a normal cassette deck a ten band graphic and a massive 100 Watts per channel output with 5 different sound settings the thing was massive wish I still had that machine in good condition now it would be worth well over a grand
Remember my pals sharp gf777 no need for weights.....lol they made some serious money off of batteries in them times
so who remembers electro with the sticker in the right hand corner ,promoting the uk's first ever hip hop festival "FRESH" in Milton Keyenes
fire
Contains the best Wikki Wikki Version of them all !!!
The Original
Ray-gun-omics ! Still sounds just amazing as when i first heard it 40 years ago !
Me too my son about 11 years old got some liner portal stereo tapes cracked on
I’m sure we were ahead of time listening to this and watching people trying to spin on their heads on a bit of Lino in the middle of Salisbury 😂
I don't know if any old-skoolers noticed it, but lately it seems reproductions of old Troop and British Knights sneakers are in fashion. And I bet very very few people even know about the originals. I used to love those sneaks, very hard to find at the time had to get them imported from 4-star general in Carnaby St. Sadly a bit old for them now.
Our generation of kids back then are now on the board and in other high places, so we will occasionally see some things that were below the radar cool back then, turning up again now.
Hi. Will you be adding electro 21 full album to thus amazing list?
Hi mate, Electro 21 is on here, but I’m not sure why it’s not showing? It may have been blocked?

“Ray Gun Omics” by Project Future brought me here. Just when I thought I heard everything from that great Hip-Hip/Techno era, I have something more to listen to. Is there any good stuff being done today???
Ray Gun, the Aussie breakdancer
@@gregoryeze9329 You are kidding, she was shite
A copy of this on a c120 booming out of my Philips D8534. Them were the days :)
One of the first LPs that you could not fit on one side of a c90. The irony is that Electros 2,3,4 and 5 you could!
I feel old. I AM old.
Sorry for spelling 😊
Ennit
I realised years later, they stole almost every synth riff.
Track one is a rip of being boiled, human League
Yeap🤣
