Today I was drawn to think back on this sermon and God's great grace to work with even the most messed up.
You didn't say it pastor but I realized you were teaching this out of the consciousness that in the bible the church group that is closest to the Philippine church is the Corinthian church, and maybe a close correlation to the culture of the Cretans, Paul disparages them in Titus 1:12. God forgive us all for the wickedness that too easily rises up in our hearts, dear Father, use us to shine the Kingdom light despite ourselves, by the power of the Holy Spirit.

Accurate Gospel sharing includes the Bad News, which builds up the listener's heavy conviction of sin, thereby receiving God's gift of repentance (Romans 2:4). Repentance is the start of salvation. "The recognition of sin is the beginning of salvation." (Martin Luther). Therefore, an invitation to receive Jesus should ALWAYS START with REPENTANCE. Otherwise, without repentance during altar call produces fake Christians. Christ commands: "Repent and believe in the gospel." (Mark 1:15)
