- The whistle register is the highest vocal register where the folds are pulled very tight and not vibrating. The sound of air passing through results in a sound that is similar to a whistle with the lips. To help you access this start with an upwards glissando with the vocal fry.

Nooo you have me ksi laugh 😭😭😭
Just hit my first whistle tone after 4 months of practing😌
yaaaaaay I´m so happy for you! :)
Good Job Toph didn't think you were the type to sing! 👏🏽👏🏽
@@mrs.bokuto7824 omg here take this 👑 Lmaooo 🤣🤣
I just hit it first try 👊
Me, in an advanced choir at school, has practiced for a month: sorta hit an A6 (idk if was a whistle note)
My sister, an inexperienced singer: hits a C#7 on her first try
omg my music teacher says that all the time if you can speak you can sing
I just realized this all on my own and I’m freaking out had no clue I could do this!!!!
I heard Ariana do it a while back now and I tried to naturally go up the scale and I got to the whistle notes. Now they’re for me to use whenever!
@@taylerrenee9710 yayyyy! I love that!!
@@Throga I really wanna do an airy on like Mariah
I tried doing it. I got nothing but a sound of a broken glass being scraped.
lol
As soon as i change the note of my vocal fry to a higher range... i can’t do that
it takes a lot of balance between air pressure and the right tension of the vocal folds - keep exploring without FORCING the note :_
Same😂😂
For some reason my first whistle note was actually an accident, I was trying to sing an F6 in headvoice which was SUPER difficult and still is, but once I reached the F6, it cracked into a whistle note and went an octave higher, so I hit an F7, and now because of that accident I can now go up to D7-E7 comfortably in whistle, but for some reason now my headvoice cant go much higher than D6, cuz usually after D6 or Eb6 my voice just cracks into whistle.. 🤷♂️ idk how that works
When you can't even whistle with your lips 👄😭
Tiktok is the key lol hahaha
Same 🤣
Then we whistling with our vocal chord 🤣
Lmao cuz das lips but true i cant do it at least i can w my vocal cords..anyone cou
D
Whoaaaaa the vocal fry method actually works, like I can’t do it but I feel wayyyy closer to now than before
So glad you found this video :)
bold of you to assume i can *whistle* in the first place 😺
lol :)
It may seem weird, but the first vocal register I learned how to access and use was the whistle register. In the beginning I could hit G#6, now I can go up to D#7.
Love your channel!!! I was a great singer but damaged my vocal chords from constant screaming for relatives after a horrible car accident which left me unable to walk for 2 years in 2007! (I'm fine now) But from being stuck in bed was screaming every day all day for relatives to come help me out of bed!! They had head phones on, literally ignoring me🤔 Still able to sing but vocals are still a bit hoarse and unable to reach really high notes!! These lessons are very helpful👌👌👌
I'm sorry about the accident, but I am very happy that these lessons help! :) keep singing!
I'm jus trying to learn how to fry scream and now i get videos about vocal coaching recommended
haha, well I can add that to my video tip list for you!
Me: this sounds easy
*sound like a dying duck*
I've been searching how to whistle scream in youtube none of them works except yours really show how sometimes the answers lies outside of what you know
Can't wait! Much Love✌️😇
A kind request . Can u make a video on how to improve nd control whistle. Cause i do whistle but not perfectly nd continuesly . So it'll be helpful.
will definitely add this to the list of future vocal tips :) stay tuned!
@@Throga oh thank u so much then🌸✨🎄
Yes please do! Make another video on improving whistle notes.
IT WORKS !!!
OMG !
As a guy I had no difficulties to control my whistle register, I found it when I was 13 and in 1 month I could hit F7
I was just to begin with singing bro....
It ok to do whistle training being beginner singer??
I've been singing for 2 years now, i think it's better for you at the beginning of your singing path to focus on the diaphragmatic singing and releasing tension in the throat and jaw. After few months you can do it easily. 🔥Greetings from Italy
@@giovannianimbono17 thanks for your tips bro
By all means explore your voice and all registers!! Just make sure to do gentle warmups and loosen your voice while being hydrated often in the process :)
@@Throga thanks bro.
This is the best explanation ever!
Thank you for this, I needed to practice again after a long time of not doing so, for a song I'm writing (It has an A6 whistle).
Thank you for this tutorial OMG I can't imagine
I was waiting for you to do it lol
I can whistle. I did the whistle tone before. Now i did it again. I'm.gonna turn 62 soon. I thought i can't do it anymore.because i'm not.young. 😁Thank you for sharing.
Will try 👍
this literally helped so much y'all time to sing phantom of the opera
You know this is the one person who helped me do whistles notes after 2 months so Whooooooooooo
The neighbors must think I'm crazy
lol, I think most singers' neighbors think that of them :)
Dang! I'm a man, and I just sustained a B6! thanks
OMG I tried and hit it 😮 SO STRANGE!!
Tysm this is so helpful xxxx
You’re very welcome!
Oh I’m here cuz I wanna be the next ari+conan+girl in red wish me good luck
Edit: I was just trying to hit high notes and I did it- mom pick me up I’m scared-
Someone remembers my little Cone 🥰
Mind blowing
Thanks so much im subbing now very helpful

Thanks for the info
Happy to help!
I actually have a question, what’s a way of practicing pitch?
I have a video on that specific question. Check it out here: czcams.com/video/08OS0m1PRfY/video.html
So helpful thank u:)
You are very welcome!
Holy shit, this works
When he whistled I swear he was about to sing bad romance and I was like “NOOoOoO” when he didn’t sing the whole song
Ily
I WANT TO DO IT BADLY
can one blend this whistle tone with the test of the voice?
does a developed whistle register negatively effect the middle voice?
no. Because the folds have to stop vibrating, they can't transition smoothly into falsetto, which would be the next closest register. This is why you always hear singers like Mariah or Ariana jump to the whistle tones (in an instant!) but not slide into them :)
It doesn’t blend.
Does the whistle register start in the 6th octave or the 7th? I always thought the 6th was falsetto but now I'm not sure because people are saying it starts at d6 and if so I can already hit whistle tones.
it's relative to the individual's voice. For example, the notes in my chest range are not likely the same as yours.
В общем, чтобы выйти на свисток надо начать с штробаса и налегке поднимать головной звук насколько получится.
Omg I got a somewhat (was kinda squeaky and not clean) whistle in my first try!!!!
GREAT job! It takes a lot of practice to get consistently - you'll get there :)
@@Throga thanks ^_^!!!
My voice is best I can pitches all note very easily ❤️❤️
I know its hard for guy especially at the time of puberty, which i am right now
But im gonna keep trying
Could you demonstrate it?
* scream in baritone *
just curious: how old were you when you accessed your 1st whistle note?
*might be helpful for us desperate singers to do it... 😩
the thing I can't only do I keep continuing is keep whistleling cz it cracks my voice later could you have a tutorial of how to keep doing whistle tone? plsss
I just did it on first try maybe im lucky😂 but i cant hold it long.
make sure your voice is warmed up, you're hydrated and keep vocalizing. You can only improve if you continue to practice :)
I can do it high headvoice effortless
I'm curious. I was informed that whistle register is caused by the isolated vibration of just the front part of the chords as opposed to vibration across the entire length.
This is a more accurate description of falsetto, where the folds are actuated slightly separate from each other and only the outmost edge of the folds are vibrating very quickly :)
@@Throga Ok nice. However falsetto still vibrates the full length of the chords, but the full body of the chords in the dimension of surface depth does not.
Whistle voice actually has a reduction in the vibrating length of the chords.
I can do it as a guy, but not all the time. How can I access it every time?
Practice! :)
I did it 😆😆😆😆😆
I have alto voice but I can access whistle tones but sometimes it hurts in my neck
be mindful to not bring in any exterior muscles... here's something that might help you become more aware of that: czcams.com/video/KqwbG-PvUiY/video.html
when i first tried it i couldnt make a whistle sound but i never realized i could hit high notes i am a bass baritone guy who always struggled while singing in high notes do you think that will i be able to hit whistle sounds with right technique
How do you do the vocal fry correctly?
First before doing whistle i must avoid sing nasal second whislte this is only my routine.
Edit:I already know how to whistle but not very good like I couldn"t sing it and do it properly because there is something blocking my vocal cord.
I am a guy and I had a very powerful whistle register ever since I was 12, I am 15 now and my voice started to change a couple months ago and I can barely whistle like I did before, only some squeaks. Is there a way I can restore it again?
Great question! During puberty, the shape and size of your larynx will grow in subtle, yet significant, unpredictable bursts at a time. this makes it very difficult to create stable coordination to do whistle and transition in between vocal registers. Basically, yes - you will likely get the whistle back especially if you keep playing with it over time. However, it will be a process for your entire voice to adapt to over the next several years until the hormones in your body even out. Be patient and keep at it!
When i tried it i sound like a train
I mean the choo choo
It takes practice! Focus on spending as little air as possible in the process… it doesn’t require as much force as many may think :)
@@Throga ohhhh
Okiii thank u so much ❤️❤️☺️☺️
Cant ever go up in chest voice, I automatically switch to head ;( please help!

I wanna train my bird so I need to learn how to whistle
haha I think traditionally whistling with your lips will be easier to learn first :) Happy whistling!
Just stumbled across your station. You have some very informative information. I have never ever been able to whistle so accessing whistle tones is going to take some work for me!😩👍❤❤❤
Thank you for the comment! Keep practicing and let us know how you do :)
Is it possible to whistle in the 7th or 8th octave with vibrato?
as long as the group of muscles related to the vibrato are relaxed enough, it is possible - though difficult to coordinate.
@@Throga thanks for the Answer, Actually i was confused because i saw a male do it With Vibrato Live he Hit a d8 for 5 seconds Many fancams were shard proving that it was not fake or anything and he also should his mic before doing it So it was clearly legit! Which confused me
How do you know that youre doing a whistle note and now screaming?
Great question! It's not uncommon for a whistle (at the vocal folds) to take place while someone is screaming, depending on the type of scream. So screaming can take place in any vocal register, just as laughing can.
Can basso profundos do this?
yes
@@Throga are you sure?
@@alex_mcburney yes - it will require more tension of the folds and may take more practice, but it is absolutely physically possible :)
@@Throga awesome!! Can’t wait to see if I can do it!
Whistle tone plus growl equals pterodactyl
At one point super high head voice sounds so identical to a whistle note. How to differentiate it?
great question! if you can slide into the note from a lower head voice sound, you are still in to your falsetto range. If you can not slide into the super high note, it's likely to be whistle as the folds have to suddenly stop vibrating in order to produce the pitch in a new way (chest, head and falsetto all require the folds to vibrate).
This makes me nervous that whistle tones are unhealthy 😬 Because... vocal fry is super hard on the voice and unhealthy, no? Any tips that don't involve fry?? I'm teaching a young but more advanced vocal student who is finding these whistle tones already and I wanna make sure we work on them safely!
I tried hitting one of these and I fainted 💀
maybe this helps? czcams.com/video/XX2daYAmSgc/video.html :)
So i have been able to do whistle screams since.. forever?
I can hit A#5 with a lot of effort. I love to sing SOS, but it requires at least a D6. I feel so bad for not reaching that. But I dont keep forcing. Do I need to train more? I have no idea.
If you can force the note than that means your instrument is physically capable of producing the frequency. Now your goal (in training) is to achieve the same range of notes with a clear tone and no stress (even with just a lip trill or mmm sound). Focus on flexibility based exercises, stay hydrated, and be patient :)
@@Throga I thought I would never get an answer. Thank you. I'm trying to get a vocal coach. As a catholic, I'm used to sing gregorian chants for the church. But considering my Voice I also wanted to expand It. Haha
@@Throga As a man, I thought that singing these high notes is bad.
@@ludvicfreire1281 male anatomy typically has a larger larynx and therefor access to lower notes - but it doesn’t mean they can’t stretch and thin to reach high ones :)
my highest note in whistle is a E7, is it high or low?
Francesco that’s generally considered a high note - but in a song, the “high note” is only relative to the lower notes so him the same song :)
i can use my whistle tone for screaming and singing... but I can't annunciate a word... for example... ariana grande-my hair whistle... i still find it hard to speak with a whistle tone 😅
Pronunciation is possible, but tends to be super difficult (and often compromised) due to the movement of the tongue, lips and jaw modifying the space above the folds - where the pitches are occuring. Keep playing with it at a slow tempo and speed up as you build the coordination to do so!
Is there any problem to the vocal cords if I practice it more time. How much time I can practice this?
5-10 minutes
If your form is good (hydrated and not over tensing) you can do this for hours!! Think of it this way - if you can speak for hours without vocal cord issues, you should be able to do the same for singing (relative to the level of difficulty of course). But even just 5-10 mins practice daily will help you build coordination .
@@harrypotter3365 thank you
@@Throga thank you
I just done it accidentally and now I dont know how😅😅😅
Am I supposed to do it in an inhaling way or exhaling?
exhaling, just like you sing any other note.
Video : whistle tone
*wheezes*
Does it sung by throat or diaphram....?
The diaphragm is a muscle used to primarily inhale. Muscles in the throat (larynx) are used to position the vocal folds against the airflow to create a whistle.
"Not vibrating at all"
Me: *well what am i....what am i.....mine vibrates bro what am I* 😰
hahaha the sound waves still cause small amounts of vibration. But if its something you can feel with your fingertips by resting them on your larynx, it is not whistle, and likely a higher note in falsetto :)
@@Throga I cant feel the vibrato on the larynx when I do it...
Is it exhale or inhale?
Exhale :)
@@Throga can you explain the whistle scream?
So like genuine question, can you sing as high as you can whistle?
Yes! You can still "sing" in whistle register, but it tends to cause compromises in your choice of expression. This includes being able to express emotions (can be difficult to tell if someone is happy say, angry etc) as well accurately pronouncing the words while maintaining the pitch! It can be fun to play with either way :)
@@Throga ok! That’s really cool, thanks for letting me know!
i can do whistle notes but on a KETTLE-tier level lmao 😂
lol :) just make sure to not strain your voice too much!
falsetto please.
dude in video: (talks about whistling and whistle notes)
me: *I cannot do the thing you did right there; I have failed already*
jokes aside, thanks for the tips! I hope I'll be able to sing whistle notes by the time I'm a performer!
The fact it takes most people months to actually do the note
Then there’s me who did it in one week of practice 😀
THE ROCK?!?!?
I can hit the note but it keeps breaking after a couple seconds.
It requires a great balance and can be difficult to sustain - keep exploring :)
Is it normal if I can only hit one whistle note?
yes - it can start with one! Try sustaining the single pitch and adjust to a semi-tone up and/or down at a time. When you find comfort in that balance, extend another semi-tone and so forth :)
I can’t even whistle 😂🙈
that's a whole other coordination with your expression muscles (lips) - so there's not actual relation to being able to whistle with your vocal folds, just a comparison of physiology and related actions :)
eEeeeeEeeEee: me after waking up
make sure you're properly warmed up and hydrated when you do this :)
That's speaker behind actually has a face
Is it normal that I can sing whistles notes without practicing 🧐
It's fairly unique for someone to produce whistle notes easily in a controlled fashion, but definitely not unheard of :)
Oh mf I just yawn and get whistle note wtf 🎉🎉 that's new to me. But i can't do anymore
Mathew McConaughey voice.. lol
I dont know how to whistle with my lips
