  • The whistle register is the highest vocal register where the folds are pulled very tight and not vibrating. The sound of air passing through results in a sound that is similar to a whistle with the lips. To help you access this start with an upwards glissando with the vocal fry.

    For some reason my first whistle note was actually an accident, I was trying to sing an F6 in headvoice which was SUPER difficult and still is, but once I reached the F6, it cracked into a whistle note and went an octave higher, so I hit an F7, and now because of that accident I can now go up to D7-E7 comfortably in whistle, but for some reason now my headvoice cant go much higher than D6, cuz usually after D6 or Eb6 my voice just cracks into whistle.. 🤷‍♂️ idk how that works

    can one blend this whistle tone with the test of the voice?
    does a developed whistle register negatively effect the middle voice?

    • @Throga
      @Throga  Před 3 lety +4

      no. Because the folds have to stop vibrating, they can't transition smoothly into falsetto, which would be the next closest register. This is why you always hear singers like Mariah or Ariana jump to the whistle tones (in an instant!) but not slide into them :)

    • @Throga
      @Throga  Před rokem

      Great question! During puberty, the shape and size of your larynx will grow in subtle, yet significant, unpredictable bursts at a time. this makes it very difficult to create stable coordination to do whistle and transition in between vocal registers. Basically, yes - you will likely get the whistle back especially if you keep playing with it over time. However, it will be a process for your entire voice to adapt to over the next several years until the hormones in your body even out. Be patient and keep at it!

    i can use my whistle tone for screaming and singing... but I can't annunciate a word... for example... ariana grande-my hair whistle... i still find it hard to speak with a whistle tone 😅

    • @Throga
      @Throga  Před 2 lety +2

      Pronunciation is possible, but tends to be super difficult (and often compromised) due to the movement of the tongue, lips and jaw modifying the space above the folds - where the pitches are occuring. Keep playing with it at a slow tempo and speed up as you build the coordination to do so!

    Is there any problem to the vocal cords if I practice it more time. How much time I can practice this?

    • @harrypotter3365
      @harrypotter3365 Před 3 lety +1

      5-10 minutes

    • @Throga
      @Throga  Před 3 lety +4

      If your form is good (hydrated and not over tensing) you can do this for hours!! Think of it this way - if you can speak for hours without vocal cord issues, you should be able to do the same for singing (relative to the level of difficulty of course). But even just 5-10 mins practice daily will help you build coordination .

    • @Throga

      The diaphragm is a muscle used to primarily inhale. Muscles in the throat (larynx) are used to position the vocal folds against the airflow to create a whistle.

      hahaha the sound waves still cause small amounts of vibration. But if its something you can feel with your fingertips by resting them on your larynx, it is not whistle, and likely a higher note in falsetto :)

    So like genuine question, can you sing as high as you can whistle?

    • @Throga
      @Throga  Před 2 lety +1

      Yes! You can still "sing" in whistle register, but it tends to cause compromises in your choice of expression. This includes being able to express emotions (can be difficult to tell if someone is happy say, angry etc) as well accurately pronouncing the words while maintaining the pitch! It can be fun to play with either way :)

    • @Throga
      @Throga  Před 3 lety

      yes - it can start with one! Try sustaining the single pitch and adjust to a semi-tone up and/or down at a time. When you find comfort in that balance, extend another semi-tone and so forth :)

      that's a whole other coordination with your expression muscles (lips) - so there's not actual relation to being able to whistle with your vocal folds, just a comparison of physiology and related actions :)
