- Back in the gorgeous Class 411 for a run up into London from Tonbridge, in the final weeks of operation for the slam door stock in the southeast, with Electrostars very much present within this 2005 based scenario. Hope you enjoy!

Another stunning video. I much preferred driving slammers to Disastros when I was at Bournemouth depot. 14 years at Bournemouth guard & driver I never broke down once with a 400. OK in winter too. Footrest heater where a DSD pedal would be on a modern train and a heater under your seat.

@@TheBritishAce No blackboxes, you could push the envelope a little. I had a 12 car Greyhound (so named because they were quicker), off the clock, over 100 on the Dn at Wallers Ash. Never has a chance to drive a REP, they were even faster. Extremely powerful, their motors were used to power the 442s. We called them 400s with bolt on extras due to the number of similarities. Buck Eye couplers, REP motors, EP and Auto braking.
You heard good things about the slammers. Of course starting in 1987 I heard good things about the steam engines from my colleagues 😊

With a Portsmouth direct line route would be the icing on the cake! Even the thumper can make a appearance too
AI is slightly incorrect as 319s definitely didn't operate to Sevenoaks in 2005. They did from 1988-1991, then after that the Sevenoaks branch of the Thameslink network got handed over to the south eastern side of NSE operated by Networkers right up and past privatisation until 2012 when the line went back to Thameslink operation, jointly operated by First Capital Connect and Southeastern when 319s made a comeback on the Sevenoaks branch. Also platform 7 at London Bridge didn't exist it was just a loop line for Charing Cross services that didn't call at London Bridge, all Charing Cross and Bedford bound trains calling at London Bridge always stopped on platform 6.
I was lucky enough to travel on these units for many years before they were sadly withdrawn, even did the railtour

What a lovely model. Very nicely detailed. But why did all these old English trains have manual doors. Trains have automatic doors here in the Netherlands since the early 30s
