I think after Christine left the only thing that still (kinda) held them together was Janelle. But because she had the audacity to support Christine and her kids Kody inevitabley turned on her. Narcissists see any conflict as a war- you are either on their side or you become the 'enemy'. So Kody went after her only to be SHOCKED that she didn't just take it and eventually left. I think Meri unintentionally lead Kody to think that his other wives would never leave. After all Meri stayed no matter how awful he was. But what he didn't get was that's unusual. He never forgave her for the catfish thing, she was always a scapegoat he just got distracted by his other wives leaving. But a narc has gotta narc so he still needs a scapegoat. So he goes back to treating Meri like sh^t. Only now ALL the glue that was holding the family is gone. Christine was the heart, and Janelle was the one who kept everyone grounded in reality. It's not easy to take care of one child a lot This person is an idiot. Even when the child is in general a very good child including a toddler it still is hard.
Christine was the caretaker of the first 13 kids for the most part. She always had the big family dinners and catered all of them. The love that Janelle’s kids have for her is closer than an aunt and more like a second mom.
I believe in season 15 or 16 some of kids even said they considered christen more as a mom then any of the other mom. She was their primary caregiver and they will choose her over kody every time.
And Christine was willing to mother Robyn’s children too but she got outside help instead…..Even with her unhappiness with how and when Robyn came in, Christine was willing to mother the new children

My favorite thing about Christine is her willingness to care for and love the children. Even when she was unhappy with Robyn coming into the family, she didn’t take that unhappiness out on Robyn’s children. It takes a special kind of person to care for people no matter the circumstances and Christine does that, genuinely. That’s beautiful.
The big picture question is everything that you said yes but I think in the end the big picture for them is their religion and they have to have at least three wives multiple kids to get to their highest point the more wives and more kids you have the higher you get or the more rewards something of that nature so I think it's everything you said plus I think in the end it's also the religion and I think there is a money factor because she is an income for him and the way he comes off to the world the way people believe or think or feel about the whole polygamy idea etc and they've been living a lie I was like you I thought he was a nerdy airhead kind of guy that loved all of his wives and his kids and they had this great and wonderful life okay if it works leave him alone but obviously there were things going on and we saw fractures through the years but it really came to head the last couple years the true colors have definitely come out and I don't think they've all always been fully honest even when they do their couch interviews so this year is definitely been a turn in some of those couch interviews and what he says on the couch the last couple years surely those women have watched that and seen what he says and how he feels about some of them
Kodys relationship with his kids is awful because kody has abandoned the wives, and his first 13 children. He bad mouths his kids and his wives. No one would want to be around kody....he broke up his family. Hr deserted his children.
Robyn built the wall between her kids and the rest of the kids. Christine raised/provided daycare for Meri, Janelle and her own kids and the 3 wives depended on each other as one family. The kids grew up together. Robyn didn't want that. She never asked Christine to help with her kids. She told (aka blackmailed) Kody that she couldn't have anymore children without the help of a nanny. Robyn's relative was brought in to be the nanny. Christine was hurt by Robyn's rejection of her role in the family. Ari was born after that. They lived in the same cul-de-sac in Vegas and Robyn kept her kids separate. Robyn has always kept her kids distant and Kody has always aided and abetted it. It's on you Robyn.
That’s a great way of putting it! Christine’s role in the family dynamic was definitely to be the primary homemaker. Her role had great value because neither Meri nor Janelle could or would have worked full time, bringing in that outside income, without Christine’s support of them and more importantly, their children. Plus we did see Christine working nights as well to help supplement the family income.
I just love how Kody made it out to be that Ariella was trying to be helpful. The school called them to tell them Ariella wouldn't leave the other little girl alone and wanted them to address it. Ariella wasn't being helpful she was being a pest!

When Christine offered to take care of Robyn's children Robyn said no. Christine has looked after all the kids with motherly love and Cody has the audacity to say you just took and took and took. I totally agree with you out of all the wives it was Christine who cooked & cleaned for all 12 or 13 kids, home schooled them, assisted with school projects, she was a big baker too, she was the family party planner including throwing a baby shower for Robyn. You name it Christine did it, Janelle recognizes all she did and all the love she gave to Janelles kids as well. Their relationship now is more like that of siblings. Siblings can argue yet they always have your back.
I wonder if they paid Christine anything for all the work she done; I hope so. Cooking three meals a day for that many is a LOT, let alone the homeschooling. Homeschooling two kids during COVID-19 was a nightmare for me, I can't imagine what 13 kids would be like, while trying to cook, do the laundry, cleaning the house, breaking up kids arguments, all while just wanting to be shown some love and attention from your husband. Kody says poor little Robyn just got the crumbs left behind by the other wives. We all know who got the crumbs, and it certainly wasn't Robyn. Christine surely had to have loved Kody and the family a lot to do all she done for the family only to get one night with her husband every fourth night. That what I was thinking when Kody was going on about “I invested so much in this, and you blew it”. He can’t recognise how much Christine invested in the family. Everything you mentioned above, child care, cleaning, school, was Christine investing in the family. Janelle was really the provider and the one who did all the practical things like taxes and insurance- while Christine did all the child rearing and was basically the housewife. Kody and Meri were basically just extra incomes so they could support their 18ish childern. They helped to- but Janelle and Christine were the heart and mind of the family. I think Kody is just trying to hit Christine were it hurts. He knows that her identity as a mother and as a family woman is so important to her. And she was GOOD at it- we'd all be lucky to have Christine for a mom. I think it's the same reason why Kody is so adament on Janelle never getting in a house on Coyote Pass. He knows that Janelle worked super hard on the families money situation, and was the one who wanted everyone to have homes and solid assests to pass to the childern. So Kody being the narc he is has to hit them were it hurts to PUNISH them for daring to not obey his every whim. He wanted to hide in the McMansion with his true love Robyn while all the other wives could rent and just send checks every month. And he wanted to ignore all the other kids- except when HE wants something. He expects them to wait like dolls on a shelf until he gets bored enough to play with them. And it just INFURIATES him that no one except Meri (who he could care less about) was going to just do that. So he has to punish them. And he also punishes Janelle & Christine for their kids too. After all Robyn smothered- I mean mothered HER kids into 'compliance', why can't the others? There's a video where Kody and Robyn had to quarantine away from one of the girls. They hadn't seen her in two days and they were all bawling. He hasn't seen some of the other kids for most of the last two years.
There was an episode when Christine was trying to talk to Robyn about that basement wife situation and Robyn got mad at her. I think Christine tried and Robyn proved to be untrustworthy because she ran back to Kody with everything. Christine gave him 6 children and raised Janelle's kids. That's an investment
Christine was caregiver for the children and for the running of the family. She did the housework and the home schooler, she planned the parties and made the meals. Janelle and Meri worked. Interestingly it only recently came out that Christine not only did the care for family, she also worked outside the home at night (she had 5 children and was pregnant with Truely) I believe she had to contribute financially to the family. Along comes Robyn and she brought debt and never worked.
I admire Christine. She is a good person. She gave the children wonderful memories and traditions. She lived years of heartache with loveless Kody. Polygamy looks like hell. I had a lot of love, laughter, humor and fun with my husband got alzheimers and passed. We cherished our love and our life together. I wish you and David a love-filled marriage and life, Christine.
Christine was always the main caretaker of the kids until they moved to Las Vegas. Kody has many times talked about how shes such a breath of fresh air in the family with her happy and fun loving personality. Kody has no problem rewriting history when it serves him, even when that history has been documented over 17 seasons of a reality TV show about his life.
Her mantra was "I didn't want just a man, I wanted a family". For her Christine it wasn't JUST about the man. That is what she has said. But without the relationship between her and Kody there is no family. He just doesn't get it. He is wrapped up in himself and his feelings. He always said "love should be multiplied and not divided" but he hasn't loved 3 of his wives since the 4th one came into the picture. He is the problem and he refuses to see it.
Has anyone else noticed that the first word Kody uses to describe Robyn is “loyal?” That says it all, doesn’t it? He doesn’t love Robyn. She just does everything he says. During Covid, Robyn didn’t have adult children who worked outside the home like Janelle; and she didn’t have a daughter that required back surgery. The thing that gets me about Robin and Kody saying that Christine did not try with Robin or her kids is that Christine was so mad that they got a nanny. Tx Princess, the way I understood that was he was repulsed by her, but married her anyway, because his other 2 wives needed a babysitter, cook and cleaner. I just figured it out! Hear me out: Kody DID let Christine think he is willing to move back to Utah, because he was actually entertaining that idea, he wanted to move to Utah. You can see it on his face in the previous episodes and in this one. He said no in this episode why?, because of Robin. Look how Robin asks him " Were you open to it? Were you open to moving, Kody?". Kind of like "i dare you to answer". And he basically answers "no". He is afraid to admit to her that he genuinely thought about moving to Utah. Again, why? Because she is the only reason they moved and stayed in Flagstaff in the first place. They are there so she can be a helicopter mom to Dayton who got accept in school there. Admitting to her that he wanted to move, and leave Dayton behind, would have imploded that relationship. I think he is afraid of her, after all, is she leaves him, the legal wife, she will f*** him up financially. And also, she is the favourite. I hope i expressed myself clearly enough. :)

When Kody said “don’t verbalize anything just sit there and soak in what I said” is when I would have been pushed over the edge. I’d have told him everything I’ve ever thought about him. It’s also a reflection of how desperate he is to hurt Christine because he’s been hurt. I mean just hurling out total non sense that he knows isn’t true to make her feel guilt and shame. He’s so mad that she isn’t feeling those things, that he simply CAN’T move forward until she’s miserable like him.

Kody completely set up Christine in that episode about moving to Utah. After their one on one conversation, he led her to believe he would be open to moving. Then he completely flipped when she presented the idea to the family. It was one of the first times I saw him for who he I really is: someone with Narcissist Personality Disorder. I know, I was a little slow coming to that conclusion but I didn’t watch every episode. Robyn is fooling herself if she thinks having Kody to herself is the grand prize. And finally, I don’t think any of the children have embraced the polygamy lifestyle? I wonder why that is? It certainly can’t be what they witnessed growing up? I'm friends with a gentleman who is in a plural marriage with two wonderful ladies. When i see the constant effort and love he puts into his relationships, it really shows how completely disconnected Kody is from reality. He is at every event and every function for each wife and he truly revolves his life around them. Kody is such a douchecanoe to everyone who isn't Robyn.

I remember the conversation he had with Christine where he flat out told her that he was not interested in having an intimate relationship with her. I took that as saying that it was fine for her to help take care of the home and the kids, and perhaps do everything in her power to make Robyn's life easier, but it was not fine for her to expect him to be a husband to her. She evidently took it the same way because that's when she left. He seems to have selective memory because apparently, he cannot remember that conversation. When Robyn came into the picture, he stopped having four wives and had only one. He relegated Meri and Christine and Janelle to the roles of mothers of his children and keepers of the house, but Robyn was his one and only wife and was the only one he cared about. He is a polygamist living as a monogamist and that's fine for Robyn, but it is hardly reasonable to think that any of the other wives are going to accept that long term. I don't think he cares about any of his first three wives and would be perfectly happy with only Robyn EXCEPT that the lucrative show he is involved in would not last very long if he lost all his wives except one. No one would be much interested in watching a show called "Sister WIFE". When Robyn married into the family I pretty much stopped watching the show because it was obvious that Robyn was in charge and I just am not a big fan of hers. If I thought that they would show ALL of his original wives walking away and if I thought they would show Kody crashing and burning, I would start watching again in a heartbeat because I would love to see him left behind while Meri, Janelle, and Christine all move on to bigger and better things. BTW, I don't think Kody got so upset because of the breakup of his family. I think he got that upset because his pet did not gain immediate and unconditional acceptance by Christine. She probably also did not gain that acceptance from Janelle because he made it extremely obvious that THIS is my special little darlin'. I want all of you to take care of her and make her happy and be sure she never has to life a hand to care for her own home or her own children. I thought the whole concept of plural marriages was that a man would have many wives and would treat them all the same and have many children and would treat them all the same too. Foolishly, I even thought the man loved his wives and for years I have been trying to figure out how a man could love so many women at the same time. Stupid me. Watch the episode where Janelle called the family together to talk about how the family was in trouble. Christine admits she feels like the z”basement” wife and felt like no one liked her. The next day Robyn went over to Christine’s house to talk to her and make sure she was ok. After their discussion Robyn had stood in front of the house and she said she could never trust or be friends with someone who was trying to sabotage her relationship with her husband. Robyn didn’t want relationships with the other wives
So even with Christine’s departure, Robyn still makes it about herself. My guess is Robyn’s kids don’t get invited to Christine and Janelle’s homes to hang out every so often. They only go when there’s an event, Kody is invited and there is filming. Watching their reaction to Savanna’s space in the RV, one can reason why they’re not part of the family. Sucked in Robyn, you joined this family and took and took, and didn’t give back. Shameful woman.
Poor Jenelle can't have money to build her own house. She lived very frugally in order for the family to be able to build homes. Kody & Robin enjoy the best of the best thanks to the other 3 wives. I really hope Jenelle gets to have her house on Coyote Pass.

I have so much empathy for Christine. I’ve been watching this show from the very beginning. Kody said he wouldn’t bring anyone into the family without his other wives approval. Yet him and Meri went behind Christine and janelles back and brought Robyn in. Christine was so sad and kody didn’t even care. He was going on about how in love he was with Robyn. Then Robyn gets a big wedding when Christine didn’t. Robyn gets a 11 day honeymoon while Christine was home with a newborn baby. He just cast her and her feelings aside. It was so sad to watch. So it doesn’t matter what Robyn and Kody say now, the viewers saw first hand what all Christine has been through. All while being the cheerleader for the family, and the most fun loving caring supportive mom of the group. I’m so happy for her that she got out of that terrible situation and is so much happier now. If you see her now she is glowing. I hope she finds someone who really loves her. She deserves to know what it’s like to have a real relationship.
Years ago, when Christine expressed dissatisfaction with the lifestyle and the relationship, he might have sat down with all the wives and said: "I love you all. I feel that I'm falling short, spread too thin. It's difficult to manage all these relationships, but I'm doing the best I can. How can we work together to make this work? " He entered into these relationships as the "leader", but he never led.
Kody keeps talking about how Christine was a terrible sister wife but I've been watching the previous seasons and Christine has always seemed so supportive, especially of Robyn. She was always seemed the most excited about Robyn's good news, she was excited to throw her a baby shower, and i know there's a lot we don't see but I think Christine did always truly try to be the best sister wife she could. I'm not sure how the narrative became that Christine was always some mean girl who hated Robyn and her other sister wives. I think Christine was frustrated at the way Robyn and her kids were treated by treated by Kody vs the way her and her kids were treated and I think Kody has misinterpreted that as her just hating Robyn.
Christine shines so gracefully. While Kody comes off as a huge asshole. He’s freaking out that HE and he alone will have to support Robyn, her adult kids at home, the little kids AND the nanny. She told (aka blackmailed) Kody that she couldn't have anymore children without the help of a nanny. Robyn's relative was brought in to be the nanny. Christine was hurt by Robyn's rejection of her role in the family. Ari was born after that. They lived in the same cul-de-sac in Vegas and Robyn kept her kids separate. Robyn has always kept her kids distant and Kody has always aided and abetted it. It's on you Robyn.

That’s a great way of putting it! Christine’s role in the family dynamic was definitely to be the primary homemaker. Her role had great value because neither Meri nor Janelle could or would have worked full time, bringing in that outside income, without Christine’s support of them and more importantly, their children. Plus we did see Christine working nights as well to help supplement the family income.
I just love how Kody made it out to be that Ariella was trying to be helpful. The school called them to tell them Ariella wouldn't leave the other little girl alone and wanted them to address it. Ariella wasn't being helpful she was being a pest!

Cooking three meals a day for that many is a LOT, let alone the homeschooling. Homeschooling two kids during COVID-19 was a nightmare for me, I can't imagine what 13 kids would be like, while trying to cook, do the laundry, cleaning the house, breaking up kids arguments, all while just wanting to be shown some love and attention from your husband. Christine was caregiver for the children and for the running of the family. She did the housework and the home schooler, she planned the parties and made the meals. Janelle and Meri worked. Interestingly it only recently came out that Christine not only did the care for family, she also worked outside the home at night (she had 5 children and was pregnant with Truely) I believe she had to contribute financially to the family. Along comes Robyn and she brought debt and never worked.
I admire Christine. She is a good person. She gave the children wonderful memories and traditions. She lived years of heartache with loveless Kody. Polygamy looks like hell. It blew my mind when Janelle said that they bought Robyn, and her kids from another man, a house. Yet they have left janelle homeless.

During Covid, Robyn didn’t have adult children who worked outside the home like Janelle; and she didn’t have a daughter that required back surgery.
There will come a time that Robyn commits a transgression against Kody (real or perceived). There’s no way she can obey everything he dictates long term.

He is anxious when kids or wives don't obey him or be fast enough to make him feel special. That's why he is distant from kids once they become bigger kids and when a wife questions him. He does not understand why he would need to be there for them (surgery, love, affection) because it's all about his demands. He knows people are upset what he did to Ysabel but thinks its not a big deal. He thinks other wives made fun of Janelle living in RV because sympathy is not a familiar feeling to him unless its him.
The bottom line is that Kody’s “love” is ALWAYS conditional.

The thing that gets me about Robin and Kody saying that Christine did not try with Robin or her kids is that Christine was so mad that they got a nanny. Christine expressed how upset she was that she was good enough to raise mary, Janelle and her own kids but Robin got outside help without ever asking Christine. Robin poisoned that well.

I just figured it out! Hear me out: Kody DID let Christine think he is willing to move back to Utah, because he was actually entertaining that idea, he wanted to move to Utah. You can see it on his face in the previous episodes and in this one. He said no in this episode why?, because of Robin. Look how Robin asks him " Were you open to it? Were you open to moving, Kody?". Kind of like "i dare you to answer". And he basically answers "no". He is afraid to admit to her that he genuinely thought about moving to Utah. Again, why? Because she is the only reason they moved and stayed in Flagstaff in the first place. They are there so she can be a helicopter mom to Dayton who got accept in school there. Admitting to her that he wanted to move, and leave Dayton behind, would have imploded that relationship. I think he is afraid of her, after all, is she leaves him, the legal wife, she will f*** him up financially. And also, she is the favourite. I hope i expressed myself clearly enough. :)

Kody completely set up Christine in that episode about moving to Utah. After their one on one conversation, he led her to believe he would be open to moving.
Then he completely flipped when she presented the idea to the family. It was one of the first times I saw him for who he I really is: someone with Narcissist Personality Disorder. I know, I was a little slow coming to that conclusion but I didn’t watch every episode.

When i see the constant effort and love he puts into his relationships, it really shows how completely disconnected Kody is from reality. Oh and I loved how as soon as Robyn opens her mouth about trying to have some sort of relationship with Christine but Christine (rightfully so) says she needs space, that's when Kody flies off the handle and starts blaming Christine for everything. He SAID himself he wasn't in love with her, but was doing his duty as a husband and had the AUDACITY to say, "The sacrifices I made to love you.....wasted!" that just pissed me off. He made no sacrifices for her. Then Meri in all her glory says she's glad he got it all off his chest. Of course, cause it wasn't directed at her! I have zero empathy for Meri. I remember the conversation he had with Christine where he flat out told her that he was not interested in having an intimate relationship with her. I took that as saying that it was fine for her to help take care of the home and the kids, and perhaps do everything in her power to make Robyn's life easier, but it was not fine for her to expect him to be a husband to her. She evidently took it the same way because that's when she left. He seems to have selective memory because apparently, he cannot remember that conversation.
When Robyn came into the picture, he stopped having four wives and had only one. He relegated Meri and Christine and Janelle to the roles of mothers of his children and keepers of the house, but Robyn was his one and only wife and was the only one he cared about. He is a polygamist living as a monogamist and that's fine for Robyn, but it is hardly reasonable to think that any of the other wives are going to accept that long term. I don't think he cares about any of his first three wives and would be perfectly happy with only Robyn EXCEPT that the lucrative show he is involved in would not last very long if he lost all his wives except one. No one would be much interested in watching a show called "Sister WIFE".
When Robyn married into the family I pretty much stopped watching the show because it was obvious that Robyn was in charge and I just am not a big fan of hers. If I thought that they would show ALL of his original wives walking away and if I thought they would show Kody crashing and burning, I would start watching again in a heartbeat because I would love to see him left behind while Meri, Janelle, and Christine all move on to bigger and better things.
BTW, I don't think Kody got so upset because of the breakup of his family. I think he got that upset because his pet did not gain immediate and unconditional acceptance by Christine. She probably also did not gain that acceptance from Janelle because he made it extremely obvious that THIS is my special little darlin'. I want all of you to take care of her and make her happy and be sure she never has to life a hand to care for her own home or her own children. I thought the whole concept of plural marriages was that a man would have many wives and would treat them all the same and have many children and would treat them all the same too. Foolishly, I even thought the man loved his wives and for years I have been trying to figure out how a man could love so many women at the same time. Stupid me. Watch the episode where Janelle called the family together to talk about how the family was in trouble. Christine admits she feels like the z”basement” wife and felt like no one liked her. The next day Robyn went over to Christine’s house to talk to her and make sure she was ok. After their discussion Robyn had stood in front of the house and she said she could never trust or be friends with someone who was trying to sabotage her relationship with her husband. Robyn didn’t want relationships with the other wives
So even with Christine’s departure, Robyn still makes it about herself. My guess is Robyn’s kids don’t get invited to Christine and Janelle’s homes to hang out every so often. They only go when there’s an event, Kody is invited and there is filming. Watching their reaction to Savanna’s space in the RV, one can reason why they’re not part of the family. Sucked in Robyn, you joined this family and took and took, and didn’t give back. Shameful woman.
Poor Jenelle can't have money to build her own house. She lived very frugally in order for the family to be able to build homes. Kody & Robin enjoy the best of the best thanks to the other 3 wives. I really hope Jenelle gets to have her house on Coyote Pass.

I have so much empathy for Christine. I’ve been watching this show from
the very beginning. Kody said he wouldn’t bring anyone into the family without his other wives approval. Yet him and Meri went behind Christine and janelles back and brought Robyn in. Christine was so sad and kody didn’t even care. He was going on about how in love he was with Robyn. Then Robyn gets a big wedding when Christine didn’t. Robyn gets a 11 day honeymoon while Christine was home with a newborn baby. He just cast her and her feelings aside. It was so sad to watch. So it doesn’t matter what Robyn and Kody say now, the viewers saw first hand what all Christine has been through. All while being the cheerleader for the family, and the most fun loving caring supportive mom of the group. I’m so happy for her that she got out of that terrible situation and is so much happier now. If you see her now she is glowing. I hope she finds someone who really loves her. She deserves to know what it’s like to have a real relationship.
Years ago, when Christine expressed dissatisfaction with the lifestyle and the relationship, he might have sat down with all the wives and said: "I love you all. I feel that I'm falling short, spread too thin. It's difficult to manage all these relationships, but I'm doing the best I can. How can we work together to make this work? "
He entered into these relationships as the "leader", but he never led.
Kody would never ask how he could work on his relationships because he is too lazy. He expects the wives to do all the work while he lounges.
Kody keeps talking about how Christine was a terrible sister wife but I've been watching the previous seasons and Christine has always seemed so supportive, especially of Robyn. She was always seemed the most excited about Robyn's good news, she was excited to throw her a baby shower, and i know there's a lot we don't see but I think Christine did always truly try to be the best sister wife she could. I'm not sure how the narrative became that Christine was always some mean girl who hated Robyn and her other sister wives. I think Christine was frustrated at the way Robyn and her kids were treated by treated by Kody vs the way her and her kids were treated and I think Kody has misinterpreted that as her just hating Robyn.

When Janelle said that she doesn’t know who this patriarchal guy is it made me think that Robin’s strategy to stay in his good graces has created a monster. By having everything done around the house so it can be all about him when he’s there, she has set an unrealistic expectation he is now comparing the other wives to. Wives that have relationships that are twice as old as hers and deserve to be honored individually. The bottom line is that he has admitted to the world that he was never interested in Kristine and he was very much so with Robin. How can any woman “deal with her jealousy” when he has flat out said that he has never loved them the same. That not jealousy, that grief.
