Minor Swing is the most known gypsy jazz song. It was written by Django Reinhardt and was introduced to a wide audience in the movie chocolat, with Johnny Depp playing this tune by the campfire.
This is the rhythm guitar lesson for my Minor Swing 2-part series. I also have the lead part up here on CZcams.
In this tutorial, I'll teach you the Minor swing guitar chords. I've made up my own chord arrangement, but these are real gypsy jazz chords also used by Django Reinhardt, although not in that particular arrangement.
You'll learn plenty of m6 gypsy chords, dominant 7th chords, ascending movements, as well as the La Pompe rhythm. This gypsy jazz rhythm is used on most swing style gypsy jazz tunes, like Minor Swing.
So, if you ever wonder how to play Minor Swing rhythm on guitar this is the perfect guitar lesson for you.
I've alos made Minor Swing rhythm tab which can be downloaded from one of the above links.
Since most people want to play along, I've also made Minor Swing Backing Track in various tempos.
The level of this Minor Swing guitar chords lesson is beginner to intermediate. It shouldn't be a too tough task for anyone who can play chords on a guitar :-)
Please give this Minor Swing rhythm Lesson a thumbs up if you like it. Please share the knowledge!

Muchas gracias, amigo de jazz ♥️
Dear Sandra, thank you very much for this easy tune that sounds so good!! Really learned so much from your tuition, even though that I am over sixty now. But you explain so well that it encouraged me to develop skills I never thought possible after just playing the same stuff for years on end. You gave me so much inspiration and joy with my playing that I pick up my guitar every day for many hours.
Fast makes me so happy! ❤️ It's never too late to start doing what you love! Keep swinging 🎶 🎸
the best!!!
Thankiees! ❤
There is no lead without rhythm. Now my minor swing wish is fullfilled. ;-)
Rhythm is very underrated! But it's the most important part of music.
Thank you so much for this lesson! You are an incredibly good teacher. You make it so easy to understand. I'm actually a bass player and stumbled on to your Minor Swing tutorial by accident. But your teaching style and presentation is so inspiring that I ended up pulling out my guitar and learning the comping to Minor Swing. After Minor Swing I moved on to All of Me.
I have learned more about rhythm guitar comping in just the last three weeks than in the last 30 years.
Thank you, Thank you, Thank you,
Hey, I switched a bass player 😁. Glad you dig it.
Brilliant !!!....I'm really into this Gypsy Guitar and the Awsome Sound of Django! ....Subscribed! !!!!😎😎

You are my saviour
Glad to be of help 😊
Hey Sandra, thanx for sharing....danke für's teilen...kind regards from southwest of "Piefke-Country" ;-)
Süd-West? Wo genau?
You are an insparition. this is a new style for me. Iam going to subscribe and LEARN.
Welcome on board! I have a dedicated Gypsyjazz playlist, with a lot if tutorials.
Fantastic tutorial! Able to sort of play the song with just an hour or so practice after watching!
Edit: Also, like you mentioned in the lead video(can't remember if you mentioned it in this one) a thick pick really makes it sound good!
I like the fatter picks, but a lot of people also sound good on thinner picks. Stochelo himself plays pretty thin picks.
thank you for that lesson, very interesting and informative
Glad you dig it 😊. Have you checked out the All Of Me gypsy lesson as well?
@@GuitarversumSandraSherman i will sure thanks
Oh yes!!! The lead part was a little too much for me, but this is perfect.
Just take your time!
WOAHHO!
Soo good
❤️❤️❤️
Cool
Hi guitarversum
thanks to you I now have a repertoire of songs I can play solo. What's your approach to practicing jazz? Should spent alot of time with scale and arpeggios, or just learn jazz songs. I'm starting jazz guitar at 50 years old.
The foundation of it all is a solid knowledge base of chords and the theory behind it (how they're built). I have two videos up here on that. 7th Chords and Tension Chords. Look them up by clicking on my channel logo.
Enjoy the jazz ride, my friend!
Greaaaatttt
Salut Sandra,

Oh, merci. Quels gentils compliments. Je me sens flatté.
Danke dir! Kannst du vielleicht mal In Your Own Sweet Way von Wes Montgomery machen?
Hab zwei Stücke von Wes hier auf YT, vl mach ich mal Your Own Sweet Way.
You had me at that closet full of cords!
😊
It's Gypsy Time!
Yeah! Check out "All Of Me - Gypsy style" too!
