Jacob got his comeuppance. His mother’s brother made him work 7 years for his bride, then he was deceived and married her elder sister, then he had to work another 7 years for Rachel. What goes round comes round. He deceived his father then he was deceived by another. Keep your dealings clean and honest is the moral of this story for me.

Also he would never see his mother again as she died before he came back to Canaan. And the Lord did actually bless Esau as well, the fact that he had 300 men with him and had his own land in Edom means he must have been pretty well off even though he did not inherit Isaac's possessions and wealth.

I'm on the Side of the God of this Bible. He chose Jacob over Esau before they were born, and Jacob won the preeminence as God said he would Genesis 25:23. And yet, being just, God did not leave Jacob unpunished, but he will yet still never cast Jacob and his children away, for of promise did he establish his covenant with a remnant of the house of Israel for ever, in Christ (Jeremiah 31:31 Hebrews 8:8). And it is through them that the nations will be blessed with christ as their king. And there shall not be any remaining of the house of Esau, so hath the Lord spoken it Obadiah 1:18. Malachi 1:4. For they shall be destroyed, along with any nation that will not serve the House of Israel Isaiah 60:12. So let it be.

I notice how it seems the women were more ' tuned in ' to the Messianic lineage than the men. Isaac was more than ready to pass along the blessings to the son with Canaanite wives. Later on Judah married a Canaanite wife even though he was in the lineage to Messiah
    .
It took Rebecca and Tamar to straighten it out. Messiah could not come from Esau's Canaanite wives nor from Er or Onan or even She'lah as their mother was a Canaanite . The whole family needed to be bypassed.
Er and Onan were eliminated, and She'lah was saved by Tamar by getting Judah to team up with her before she was married to She'lah.
The Lord sure has some crazy ways of accomplishing things.

So wait... Jacob refused to let his own brother Esau eat from the family's pot of soup after going out to hunt for meat so that the family would have more food to eat and nearly starves in the wilderness, and Jacob used that as leverage to take Esau's inheritance for his own gain...and people think Esau was the wicked one because of this? Then, Isaac asks Esau to bring him food from the wilderness in exchange for the blessing of amazing fortune, and Jacob engages in identity theft and graft to steal the blessing for himself...and JACOB IS THE GOOD GUY?! @@Moe_510 I think esau wasn't cared for like Jacob was and he knew his own mother didn't love him like she loved Jacob! That would make me not believe in God and my birthright!
His family brought up alot of negativity to him, including encouraging their younger son to have something which he manipulated from his brother.
Clearly they didn't care at all to make sure esau was on the same page as them. This makes me not want to believe in God, though I do. This I believe was before Jesus's birth though, which proves that God knows he made a mistake and was mature enough to correct it. Though his son had to die for our inequities and sins.
God before Jesus's birth would destroy I read before, but Jesus's birth is the hope of all, not only 1 of the twins or only the nation of Israel. Jesus's death and resurrection made it possible for us not to be cursed by being the opposite or not included. Which people are doing to this very day through witchcraft. But to be included and grafted in, it seems like there was some kind of understanding back then that is godly but also witchcraft. I'm intrigued! I wish books were available about this more accessible also.

Romans 9:11 “(For the children being not yet born, neither having done any good or evil, that the purpose of God according to election might stand, not of works, but of him that calleth;)” God chose Jacob over Esau even before they were born. Isaac was not deceived - God's plan prevailed.

True, but he did not have to deceive his father for something that already belonged to him, God would have made a way regardless of any plans Isaac had but Jacob jumped the gun, used deception and he did pay a heavy price for it. He was deceived himself, not once but twice by Laban, when he was tricked into marrying Leah and when Laban and his sons took away all the spotted, streaked and speckled sheep meant to be Jacob's wages. He also never saw his mother again and had to run like a thief in the night with his family to get away from Laban, only to be chased down by him, plus having to face Esau when he returned to Canaan. It was by God's blessing that Jacob and his family made it through all this things, i can imagine however it would have been quite frightening at times for Jacob.

@@billijomaynard8924 ---- > If you read the scripture about this, Jacob was acting according to his mother's wishes. Also, Jacob inherited the Promise of Abraham from his father (even after Isaac realized that Jacob had usurped his brother Esau regarding their material inheritance). Genesis 28: 1-4 . In fact, since Jacob had to flee, Esau had the entire material inheritance for twenty years.
God's displeasure with Esau was likely the fact that he married a Canaanite (daughter of a Hittite) and a daughter of Ishmael (a Bedouin), tribes that worshiped other gods. Latter, Esau's grandson opposed the Israelites returning from Egypt to their own land.
I expect God chose Jacob because he had no strange god with him (Deuteronomy 32:9-12, Isaiah 43: 12). According to Jacob's plea his vow to God (Geensis 28: 20-22) , he was reconciled with Esau after 20 years. As time went on they separated their lands, Jacob to Israel and Esau to Edom. (Genesis 26: 6-8)
Jacob and Esau reconciled after 20 years. However, Amalak, the son of Eliphaz and Timma, the grandson of Esau and Adah, (Genesis 36: 12) , was resentful and fought against Israel entering the Promised Land (Exodus 17: 8)

24 And when her days to be delivered were fulfilled, behold, there were twins in her womb.
25 And *the first came out red* , all over like an hairy garment; and they called *his name Esau.*
26 And after that came his brother out, and *his hand took hold on Esau's heel;* and his name was called Jacob:
The two races that came from these twins are contrary to each in ever way.
The people called Edom in the bible are called by another name today.
They continue to oppress the true DESCENDANTS of Jacob.
They rule with carnal but they will be destroyed by Jacob's descendant as they master the spiritual.
Today Edom calls themselves PURE by the name of a color and they Labeled Jacob's offspring as EVIL by the opposite color.

I'm so puzzled by this story on all levels. When was it written in contrast to when it took place? And why did Esau on this particular day being a good hunter does not have one morsel of food (Dried meat) even a piece of fruit, nuts or vegetables, where did his family get the food, they had at home that they refused to share with him, so did a lie & deception warrant Jacob a better choice morally than his brother. So many issues problems with this story.

Any religion that recognizes the bible as inspired by God should take note of such scriptures as Amos 9:11-15.
Verse 15 makes it very apparent that this is an end time and even post Armageddon prophecy. In all other exiles that Israel and Judah went into they would return and go back into again. But as vs 15 brings out this time they return and become permanently established.
Whether verses 11-15 are applied to physical or spiritual Israel and Judah, they still stand as end time post Armageddon prophecies.
Now, it's within this context of biblical prophecy the nation of Edom along with some other nations are spoken of as becoming a possession of Israel. This tells us Edom is still around. That it wasn't completely eliminated 2000 years ago as some Christians teach.
Does Edom become a possession in the sense of being a subject of the nation of Israel? Or by being put into outright servitude to it? Compare Isaiah 14:1-2. 61:6-7.
According to the Bible Edom has been a prime opposer of God's people. Malachi 1:4. Joel 3:6,19-20. We learn from Amos chapter nine that the nation of Edom is still around in the end times and post Armageddon period. So, any zealous bible student might want to know who are these people today? What name or names do they go under right now? And do they still collectively oppose Israel or God's purpose in general?

This story has nothing to do with bad parenting or immoral characters, which is why each son was preferred by the other parent. This story is the same as any other in the Bible. It about obedience and judgement. Looking at Jacob as an evil doer would be no different than looking at one of who is possessed as a demon himself. A deceitful spirit through Jacob tested Esau as Satan did Jesus in the dessert. The fact that the inheritance belonged to Esau first is proof that God showed no partiality. Esau through free will traded his birthright for ONE meal. That’s like a smack in the face to God. That is like if Jesus would have heeded to Satan and turned the stone to bread. Esau was supposed to remain obedient as Jesus did, but he waivered and caused his own demise. His descendants didn’t parish because the Lord hated them, they parish because they hate the Lord and deny commands.

    • @natsusatsujinki8342
      @natsusatsujinki8342 Před 2 lety

Nah. That's just deception. I'm assuming an evil person would believe being in dire need of a meal, and signing over some kind of rights is the fault if the one eating to survive.
If that's truly your brother, why would they even treat that way? Now if they are deceivers(think European invaders) claiming to be your friend/brother, then they might do you like Jacob did Esau.
Think about the way Native Americans were deceived in America. Whites took the identity. 🤎 skinned Native Americans were changed to negro/black.
A lot of the Old Testament makes sense when you actually think about it. It's heavily in favor of European invader ideas. It favors the deceptive and weak. It's all about wars, kings, empires, and a certain group conquering a land "God gifted them". They just had to kill, remove, and hide a lot the men, women and children.
