I wanted a Pixel 3 XL and I was hoping that the rumors of that notch weren't true. The 3 XL was released with the notch. OP 6T was announced and was available exclusively at T-Mobile Times Square. I rushed over really quick to NYC from NJ. I even met a certain Jaime Rivera and Joshua Vergara.
Great points. I have the 2XL and night sight is great. But I'm definitely more inclined to upgrade to the 6T (or the small pixel). That notch is insane and doesn't justify the price tag. 1+ has been doing a great job since the 3 and it's really hard to beat since the 5/5T.
@@amiirii It's not the same thing if you port GCam. Sure you get the Google photo processing algorithms, but the 6T doesn't have Pixel Visual Core. PVC is a proprietary SoC on the Pixel that does additional photo processing. Plus, PVC is open for other 'photo' apps. Meaning you can use the Pixel's camera on SnapChat, Instagram, etc etc using the camera's full potential instead of a 'screen shot' like photo capturing that limits a lot of Android devices.
@@ChuiStrong ohh hmm yeah i get it. this is what i always notice. when ever i use camera from twitter its terrible. but when i use GCam port its different. the photo processing only comes from the GCam itself and it doesnt go with other apps. but still its pretty good bro.
The 6T is $250 $350 less. One can have a phone and buy a decent cam or spend it on a smartwatch or whatever.. W/ some basic knowledge you can take excellent photos w/ most new phone cams anyway. One can also port the Pixel cam now, if that's a magic pill for someone. That pixel worth maybe 499-599, if that would be the case I'd say give the smaller one a try but still.. there are other phones out there in that range too that I'd take over the the Pixel3. I wonder what the sales will tell us..
Except you cannot get any camera nearly as good as a Pixel 3 for $350, so if you don't already have a good DSLR (like most people) and your only camera is your phone, then it really would be worth the difference.
I'm really on the fence about getting a OnePlus 6t, it's either that or a Samsung S9, I can't decide. Will miss the led notifications on the OnePlus for sure
I own both device in this video. This comparison was presented excellently. I really do enjoy the unlimited cloud storage for 2 years with the Pixel and night scape mode in my experience is produces better results with the Pixel. All that said I use the OnePlus 6T McLaren Edition as my daily driver. I'm completely pleased with what OnePlus did with thier device. Warp Charge is not over hyped. It's that fast and feels great know when I need a quick charge that even with just 20 minutes I'll be good for the rest of the day.
@@Pocketnow Yes the screen is very dim. I came from the Nexus 5x and what I get at 1/2 brightness from that phone is full on the Pixel 3. However I just use adaptive display and let the phone do the work and I get 5hr/5:30 screen on time. (Not the XL).
@@OmarZ77 Actually I have. I had 2 Pixel 2XL delivered both were returned due to faults, one screen problem and one that actually arrived with no operating system installed! I didn't get the 3XL it's true but my brother did and returned it after a day, he didn't realise how bad the notch looked. I warned him it will probably look even worse than the photos with the wallpaper that tries to hide it. He changed it for a notchless phone with storage expansion, a headphone jack and more than a miserable 4gb ram that couldn't keep more than a few apps open. He also didn't realise how feature and spec poor the phone is. He didn't pay enough attention before ordering it. That's life, we learn by our mistakes.
*Honestly this is a really thought comparison, I have tried both, and I was very satisfied with both of them, you get a nice software experience with both of them.* *The pixel just have a slightly better camera thanks to his software.* *But both deceives are really powerful and fast.*
I also tried both and both are amazing. If I had to recommend to someone I'd say 6T. However the Pixel 3 (smaller one) is just the perfect size and I had none of the Pixel problems people faced. Honestly, if the 6T gestures were on the P3 and the P3 camera was on the 6T, it would be a matter of size.
I feel like people are way too biased towards the Pixel camera. The Pocophone even has the same sensor as the Pixel, and is better at portrait mode because of the second camera. Install Pixel camera on that and I can't see how the Pixel would be any better, for 3x the money.
Even so, HDR + is heavily processed with AI, and it's better at analysing photos on the Pixels Visual core, rather than a snapdragon chip. So while it'll enhance the OnePlus' camera, and it does in my experience, it isn't as good as a pixel still.
@@TechieConnoisseur at this point we're in a time where the majority of people use filters & edit just about any picture before posting them/sharing them. That's why for me it's all abound the Software experience. That's why the Oneplus is the phone to beat overall.

The 3 XL will always be smoother than any other device released in 2018. This includes Apple devices. The Pixel 3 does not drop frames. I loved the OnePlus One but haven't gone back to anything after using Nexus/Pixel phones. .
Benn More polished experience? You can't say that if it receives new bugs after every single update. Oxygen OS is just as fast and smooth as vanilla Android, yet it has more features and is less buggy. That's why it's considered to be one of the best Android skin out there.
@@supertigerman013 OxygenOS looks cheap and nasty, in my opinion. My Pixel 2XL, and anyone else I know with a pixel has had zero bugs since launch so there's that :)
Do love your reviews Jaime! "Daily" format is getting tired though, so I'm losing interest there. Comparison here was excellent, but, being no fan of Google, you slam-dunk PROVED the 6TMac was best by far. 3XL night shots weren't better enough, and the natural group selfies blew it right out of the water! Keen to see what the 7T offers (and whether there's a McLaren there), but, for now, my Note 9 is doing fine. More reviews please 😉

I think tech reviewers are too harsh on it. Vast majority of photography will be on social media where the pics will be more than good enough, especially with a little editing or a filter. 1+ for the win.
Great video, a couple months ago I had to make the decision of choosing one of the these two. I went with the 6t and have really enjoyed the phone. I know the camera is better of Pixel but I really don't think I myself would notice the difference.
So all one plus need to do next year is make their camera even better possibly as good as pixel. Have water resistance and wireless charging at warp charging speeds. And make a newerish design. While keeping the pricetag around that of McLaren edition 6t and people will finally think that there is no comparison to this phone any longer.
I REALLY wanted a Pixel 3XL last year. But the lackluster specs, the RAM management issues, and to some extent that big ole notch turned me off. Then there was the price. I would have gotten the 128GB storage option which would have run me $1,000. Now we're in Samsung Note 9 territory which is a beast of a phone! Then I looked into the OnePlus 6T which had killer specs, lean, mean, flexible Oxygen OS, and all with a mid-range price. Too good to be true??? Nope. I have the middle 8GB RAM/128GB storage model for $579 and it's great. My only beef is the speaker placement. If they could manage a 1 or 2 front facing speaker design, they'd have a near perfect phone. Still, I very please with my 1+ 6T.
I have Pixel 3 and OnePlus 6T (8gb varient). Used both for extensive periods and I end up going back to 6T....8gb ram does it for me, never have to close no apps and runs smooth all day.
The only thing is the pixel 3 XL has been listed at $649 for the 64GB for at least a week now, if not longer, so it is currently$50 cheaper than the McLaren 6T. :)
Seriously, the only thing that puts me off in the O6T is the fingerprint reader. The reader on the back is just 10 times more conveniant and much more ergonomic. Companies make other solutions just for the novelty factor...
If your smartphone is your only camera, then get a phone with a GOOD camera. Like a Samsung or a Huawei. The iPixel is a one trick poney. All it can do is produce unrealistic photos, filled with HDR to the brim that make everything look like a unicorn vomited on it. Oh and while you're at it...make sure the phone you get also has expandable storage, instead of forcing you to rely on cloud crap.
Amusingly enough, I only care about the Google Pixel 3 lineup because of call screening and night sight, the latter working to a certain extent with gcam ports. As for the 6T, the lack of expandable storage does kill things for me quite a bit. A shame, since the 6T currently has a photo case for it by Moment, making it compatible with their lenses.
Google does offer $150-300 discounts now and then. I got a buy one get one free offer around launch day. Now the "free" is actually a monthly credit off the bill, but I still got a new phone for my mom and added her to my Fi account for $15.
I am currently using the small Pixel 2 and it's been an amazing experience but, If that OnePlus 6T was available then, I would go for the One Plus. All I've read online is how amazing Oxygen OS is, would love to try it for myself.
OxygenOS is only better if you really like customization and super fast animations. Although you can just speed up the animations for Pixels in the Developer Options, I have mine on .5 speed at it feels great.
There is a reason that some phones are cheaper than others that most people don't take into consideration. Not all computer components are manufactured with the same quality. Wealthier phone manufacturers like Google and Apple are more likely to pay for the high quality components than are smaller manufacturers like OnePlus or HTC. As a result, components put into cheaper phones are more likely to have problems than the higher-priced better quality components put in the more expensive phones. So in the long run, the two or three hundred dollars that you will save buying the cheaper phone may in time cost you more than double to replace the device due to ROM, RAM or processor failure. Hence, the old saying, caveat emptor - buyer beware.
I own a One plus 6T and I think it's a over all better phone. I know very few people who have the Google smart phones and when I showed them this OnePlus 6T they went the next day or within the same week and switched over the OnePlus phone. There are apps out there to aid you in the night scape pictures but very little difference between the two phones.
And I am still here using my trusty 3T, enjoying the headphone jack and using the Gcam mod to take photos during the day. Night photography can never be as solid as with a dedicated camera with a large sensor and optics. Also if you are serious about photography you will always want to use the RAW files and get the result you want using Lightroom or Snapseed, the latter of which I find most convenient and user friendly.
I had to make that decision recently and went with the Pixel on sale and I love the phone. No regrets getting it at all, people legit always want me to be the designated picture taker cause of the camera.

Jaime I can tell you 1 thing... Use OP 6T McLaren and switch the camera app to the one from Pixel 3XL it's amazing!!! Just download the Google camera app and it's like you get another phone:)
I’m having both at the moment, but seriously the haptic feedback motor and the camera always bring me back to the Pixel 3XL and keep the 6T in the drawer (patiently waiting for its new owner). P.s: Yes, I do have Gcam and rootless Pixel launcher installed on the 6T but that’s just not enough for me to keep my sim card in it.
There is no comparison between 6t and pixel 3xl,as I used them bought. Better screen, much better speakers and much much better haptics make the pixel 3 experience far better then 6t. And the recent price drop on the xl makes it more compelling
The only reason I went with the 3XL is because I found one for significantly cheaper than the OnePlus. How ironic... Now I'm seriously considering selling it (at a hefty profit), and getting a OnePlus 6T instead... Thoughts?
Nah the Pixel has a lot of catching up to do when it comes to software and looks. And even the camera difference is so little that most people wouldn't even notice unless they are side by side which almost never happens. The way the 6t functions is very close to flawless. And if you buy a normal maxed out 6t you still save a lot of money.
Oxygen os is amazing. Going from a 3t yo a pixel 2,my wife and myself both noticed a decrease in quality. Oxygen is just more fluid, and the tweaks baked into the os are great. Heck, the ability to, ya know, swap back and multitasking button alone makes oxygen os worth it imo. But dat pixel 2 camera compared to even my op6... Its goooood. Fastest camera I've ever used (my op6 camera is slow for whatever reason.)
One way I've made my Pixel seem faster is by turning the animations to .5 speed in developer options, I don't like having no animations, but having fast ones feels nice without being jerky.
@@josharntt it's not that it's slow, it's just not as smooth as a oxygen. The phone is fast enough (not as fast as the Op6 imo). But yes, that's the first thing I do on any phone (even my friends phones).

Actually, I would choose 6T still because you can port the the Pixel's camera and works just as well. That's how I've been rocking my 6T McLaren edition.
I prefer the size of the pixel 3, the OnePlus is just slightly too big to be comfortable, I also quite like the 2 tone colour on the pixel, dual selfie cameras and I also like having ip68
I think google underestimated how people would react to the notch and they probably knew which is why they made a smaller one without the notch but the one most people see is the bigger one on reviews
So basically the only advantage that the Pixel has is in camera department, but only in photos, because in video the OP 6T shoots 4k at 60. In the rest of the areas the OP 6T is better that the Pixel, even in software is more likeable and slightly faster. And this McLaren edition with 10 gb of ram cost 750$, 100 less than the 850$ of the 3XL. I forgot the speakers, the Pixel is better in that area.
Pixel and 6T have there own advantage. Pixel's camera stabilization is better, Superior camera overall with visual core chip, but 6T takes higher FPS and slow mo video. Pixel has higher screen resolution but 6T brighter. Android is better integrated, and Pixel comes with software like call screening and now playing. Pixel has the best haptic motor touch feedback, 6T's haptic touch is really bad. 6T is fast with great ram, while Pixel is smooth. Pixel comes with Titan M security chip to prevent hacks, wireless charging, ip 68, dual front stereo speaker and unlimited high quality photo and video cloud storage. So, each has it's own benefit. Lol.
I got my pixel 3 for the same prices as the 8gb ram variant of the OP 6t (not the McLaren edition) I hope i won't regret going with google instead of OP
I have a pixel 2 , bought the Oneplus 6T to upgrade a beat up pixel 2, but I ended up giving the OnePlus to my mom and saving up to buy the pixel 3 just because of the pictures it takes. If your used to using a pixel camera, you'll probably have a hard time switching to the OnePlus 6T with the camera in mind.
I picked the 6t coz I always carry my DSLR in the situations I feel like I would take a photo, and excluding the camera and the wireless charging (which I don't give a penny about), the OnePlus 6t is the better phone.(it is water resistant, I have tested it)
Using a google pixel xl 1... Would pick the oneplus 6t thunder(?) (purple edition), the notch on pixel 3 is a buzz kill. And the OS on oneplus is way better.

But the Pixel 3's just got a price drop so would that change anything?
no. oneplus still wins. try using GCam port for 6T. its basically the same. and you will still have the smooth performance from the phone.
My pocket book said 6T and so I bought one
I bet your pocket is sad it didn't wait for the Pixel 3a!
I'll stick with my pixel 3XL any day.
The Pixel is the better phone.
The OP6T is the better buy.
Make your choice!!!
hmm.. If the Pixel had a brighter display, I'd agree that it's a better phone.
@@Pocketnow Yes the screen is very dim. I came from the Nexus 5x and what I get at 1/2 brightness from that phone is full on the Pixel 3. However I just use adaptive display and let the phone do the work and I get 5hr/5:30 screen on time. (Not the XL).
The modest and most impartial comment so far
The Pixel was the worst flagship of 2018. I wouldn't even call it a flagship. And that's before mentioning the design abortion of a notch.
*Honestly this is a really thought comparison, I have tried both, and I was very satisfied with both of them, you get a nice software experience with both of them.*
*The pixel just have a slightly better camera thanks to his software.*
*But both deceives are really powerful and fast.*
Thanks! Glad you liked it.
Agree
I also tried both and both are amazing. If I had to recommend to someone I'd say 6T. However the Pixel 3 (smaller one) is just the perfect size and I had none of the Pixel problems people faced.
Honestly, if the 6T gestures were on the P3 and the P3 camera was on the 6T, it would be a matter of size.
but u can just get the G Cam app on the 6t and u basically have the same camera as the Pixel 3 so 6T wins by far
@@blakewhitlow Yes, but you can't get the Visual Core on the 6t, so the images will always be slightly better.
Just get the Pixel Camera App on the 6T & it gets it even closer to the Pixel.
Or just get a used or open box Pixel at the same price as the 6t like I did.
@Miguel Navarrete can i get a link for pixel camera?
I think you are unbiased in your reviews, unlike the others. Btw, where can I get that wallpaper in 6t?
The selection of these phones comes down to personal choice and how much you are willing to spend on a phone for what you are looking for in everyday use for a cellphone!! Just Thinking out loud!!!
Give me a v40 with Android one and a big battery and I'll be as happy as a pig in mud.
That's the dream. LG's ridiculously good hardware with android one.
#TeamPixel all the way!! - sent proudly from my OnePlus 6T
#teampixel from my black pixel 3
Great comparison once again JR. Thanks
Im a photographer myself and I have tried both devices. I lean towards OP6T though I admit I wish to have dual firing speakers and Pixel's imaging software on it. I really enjoy the user experience on OP devices.
The 3 XL will always be smoother than any other device released in 2018. This includes Apple devices. The Pixel 3 does not drop frames.
I loved the OnePlus One but haven't gone back to anything after using Nexus/Pixel phones. .
Update?
Use the Pixel cam on 6T and finish. Why people should buy the Pixel 3/xl?
That's what I think. I installed the pixel camera on my S9 plus and I was very impressed with the quality.
Faster updates, more polished experience, even with GCam the Pixel still has a better camera
@3165dwayne The needless overuse of exclamation marks makes you the stupid one here pal
Note 9 coming up next. Thanks for the feedback!
I use Oxygen Launcher + Fluid on my pixel 3 xl .. it works like a charm..Fast , not laggy..I started facing less issues with the system.. Enjoying the best camera and the beauty of the Pixel

95% of pictures taken with phones end up on Instagram and phone gallery, to that end, even a $200 is good enough these days.. OnePlus 6T has my money
solo exactly. Unless you’re viewing photos on a 2K or 4K display, you can’t really tell the difference. People need to stop overhyping the Pixel

@@webbie1891 ❤️
They are tie in my opinion, both are amazing, both are great and I love them equally :D
It's a tough one.
@@Pocketnow yeah, I got 6t, but it was very tough choose which to buy
No way the pixel 3 and McLaren ties for looks @ the back that subtle carbon fiber tint with the orange trim at the bottom is seriousssssly sexy
Pixel 3xl is $450 at Bestbuy this week.
The camera of the pixel 3 stomps the OnePlus 6t, how can you say that they are almost equally as good?
Google does offer $150-300 discounts now and then.
I got a buy one get one free offer around launch day. Now the "free" is actually a monthly credit off the bill, but I still got a new phone for my mom and added her to my Fi account for $15.
When you pose for a group selfie but blur everyone out of the shot.... well played jamie😂👏🏽
*There is a big different in low light video recording.*
You should have tested that.
Hi Sir...What's this music at the starting of this video...It's so cool and awesomr...Please give me it's full link on utube
I stuck with the Pixel. The Android updates are guaranteed for 3 years and you have unlimited cloud storage.
Updates are also guaranteed for about 2 years. I'll take that. Future proof in both software and hardware.
@Pixel Man is the OnePlus 3 running Android Pie? Cause my dad's Pixel XL is.
Let's be real, who really needs that much storage? And 3 years is quite long to own a phone.
That's true
@@Jry088 I just replaced my Nexus 5X with the 6T. March will be 3 years of me running the 5X.
I think the camera is the only saving grace for the pixel... for everything else I would prefer the 6t...
For that price and that notch Google Pixel XL 3 is not even on my list. If OnePlus add stereo speakers then they will make the perfect phone for me.

Jaime I can tell you 1 thing... Use OP 6T McLaren and switch the camera app to the one from Pixel 3XL it's amazing!!! Just download the Google camera app and it's like you get another phone:)
I bought the pixel 3xl for £ 530 ,brand new from eBay
Thoughts?
I can finally drop this comment "Watching this with my oneplus 6t"
Nah the Pixel has a lot of catching up to do when it comes to software and looks. And even the camera difference is so little that most people wouldn't even notice unless they are side by side which almost never happens. The way the 6t functions is very close to flawless. And if you buy a normal maxed out 6t you still save a lot of money.
Are you on drugs your telling me Google need to catch up with software?
I haven't watch the video or read any comment but he holds the Pixel with his right hand and he tends to rise it up more times. So did that mean he prefers the Pixel? Let's see the video.
Actually, I would choose 6T still because you can port the the Pixel's camera and works just as well. That's how I've been rocking my 6T McLaren edition.
Great Review
Love those warnings for both the phones :)
That oneplus 10gb RAM all the installed apps is already 10-20% running hidden in the background to make it faster to open an app.😂😂
I prefer the size of the pixel 3, the OnePlus is just slightly too big to be comfortable, I also quite like the 2 tone colour on the pixel, dual selfie cameras and I also like having ip68
I've been using OnePlus 6T last 3 months and enjoying it .. oxygen os is way better than stock android....
I hate to say, but I got to go with the Chinese offering.
I think google underestimated how people would react to the notch and they probably knew which is why they made a smaller one without the notch but the one most people see is the bigger one on reviews
Most people also ignore the speakers, even though that's what they complained about not having on the Pixel 1.
Lol.
What watch do you wear?
I am liking that nintendo switch pro controller in the background at 3:43-3:56.
The background music is very similar to assassin's creed animus cutscenes
I had to skip the pixel 3 xl this year 4gb and a disastrous notch at $900 went with the 6t and I'm happy waiting on the op7!
I ended up going for the Pixel 3 (small) because the price isn't an issue for me.
Weird flex but ok
Too bad it looks like shit
Google is gonna be great in 2019
If the 6T, had the Pixel camera and wireless charging, it would be hands down the best phone on the market.
The camera is my first priority. That's why I haven't owned a OnePlus.
Well .. to be honest i like the 6t more. But i love my Pixel 3 xl too, mainly for it's camera and speakers.
I picked the 6t coz I always carry my DSLR in the situations I feel like I would take a photo, and excluding the camera and the wireless charging (which I don't give a penny about), the OnePlus 6t is the better phone.(it is water resistant, I have tested it)
Well done 👍
Gosh!! Those phone companies please make a small phone. My small hands can't hold on those plus plus plus large phones. :(
Using a google pixel xl 1... Would pick the oneplus 6t thunder(?) (purple edition), the notch on pixel 3 is a buzz kill. And the OS on oneplus is way better.
I use pixel 3 as my main phone..and op6t to play games and some heavy duty stuff and I also have a Galaxy note 9
Love the camera and the software on the pixel but ama have to go with the 6t on this one
