  • Canoeing around the NW corner of Ynys Mon (Anglesey) on the North Wales Coast. Penrhyn Mawr, South and North Stacks. Caves and Seals. We hit it on the easiest condition imaginable, taking advantage of a neap tide low wind forecast. Don't underestimate this place.

Not long enough, fantastic Ray, last canoed the trip you've shown in 91' Harry Wheelan and I, fog came in during the last couple of hours and Harry took advantage by asking a fisherman on the rocks if we had reached Wales in a thick Limerick accent. Once in a canoe, once by Sea kayak and once by sail.

Many thanks! In sea kayak I would have set out an hour later to allow Penrhyn Mawr to start running. Then play time in the race. On a day like that it is great in sea kayak but to be honest it would have been alright in canoe but we were being cautious: I was taking into account sea temperature if there was an incident. Also drysuits incase of a problem. As ever thanks and thanks for the coffees. Most appreciated.

    • @RayGoodwinCanoe

I will have a think and see if I know any decent guides. 😂 Seriously though it a trip so conditional on condition for canoe it is a rare event: I have done it in canoe with a client but we were up on Anglesey in exceptionally calm conditions, the client was very capable and we grabbed the opportunity. Done it lots in sea kayak and been out there is big conditions. Quite a place then.

@@RayGoodwinCanoe I was thinking a little closer to home. Maybe Seward or Valdez Alaska. There's an outfit in Seward that gives lessons and tours in sea kayaks. I figure that'd be a good place to start. Seward is very sheltered, the biggest hazard is the tour boat wakes.

I knew the wind was going to be low so no for the extra power of tandem. Plus easier to film with two boats (always a consideration nowadays). Most of the big stuff I have done on the sea has been tandem.

    • @RayGoodwinCanoe

Thanks for the sub! I use the Railblaza Camera Boom 600 with their Star-Port mounts fixed to bow and stern plates of the canoe. I run para cord directly from the GoPro to the canoe in case the boom joints come loose or it all breaks in a capsize: I would regard the cord connection as critical so as not to lose the expensive GoPro (it has come lose on two occasions due to running through branches overhanging the water). www.railblaza.co.uk/electronics/cameras/railblaza-r-lock-camera-boom-600.html
