Local shop ordered some Gibson made to measure Black LG-2 with standard thin neck profile, sounded and looked great

For that kind of price (6000 dollars), they could have added a nicer pickguard, in order to give some light in this rather austere environment (briefly saw one like what I'd rather see)... Nice to have an acoustic looking like a Les Paul though...

They all look and sound very nice with nice appointments especially the ebony fretboard...

Good to see you guys all back together! Glad you were recovering quickly Q! Always makes my day to see you guys covering Gibson's..... Interesting, I could hear the difference with the brass Pins, ... gold "dot" Ebony pins might be another nice option on these beautiful guitars!

Nice guitars. But the reason they sound very different from standard versions is because of the brass bridge pins. Brass or metal pis, even the nut for example, have a very bright chime to them. Prefer bone.

Wow, those acoustics look absolutely cool. Sound pretty good too. Forgot to mention, Quinton's playing was very good per usual.

When they all look the same it really helps your ears make the choice. Martin d18 for me!

Up until two years ago, I shaped the fingernails on my right hand (I'm a righty) so that they provided a natural pick as I don't like wearing fingerpicks. Unfortunately, my nails split and crack when I stub my fingers once every so often against any solid object. Additionally, when I let them grow a bit long, they would catch on the string I plucked. When I lost a shaped nail to crack, I had an easier time picking with just my skin (no catching on the string).
Now, I trim my righthand nails below where they protrude past the flesh and that works best for me. I can pluck strings forcefully enough to get softer sounds or louder sounds. With some nails, if I angle my fingers just right, I can get a bit of a pluck if needed.
The demonstrated guitars look very sharp. I also prefer natural finishes that let me see the wood grain, but these look quite classy and sound very good, too. I especially like the sound of the Studio cutaway with rosewood back and sides.

Glad to see Quinton back! I think I have my one and only J45, although these all sound great. I'd have to try the neck profile. As far as black, what about a black Martin Dreadnought as ordered by Johnny Cash and built before C F Martin IV could say "never?" Thanks

Very nice, but if you're gonna call a model a hummingbird I think a cool looking humming bird or two somewhere on that piece would be a nice touch - and might tempt me to buy it!

I love that. That's a cool concept. The love child of a Les Paul Custom and... every Gibson acoustic out there. Les Paul Custom.... You dog. Humming bird is wicked. In think the J45 benefits from the neck bling upgrade. The neck is awesome, I wonder if it's maple? A maple neck might add some nice subtle dimension on the high end to both the Hummingbird and the J45.

I want to *assume* that it was the sound set up - but they all sound the same on this end. (I have listened through speakers and headphones but I cannot detect any difference between the three.)

Thank you for the playing and thoughts, I have been been waiting for this review. The J-45 sounds great. Do you think they selected better woods and worked more extensively on the scalloping because it's a custom shop product? (My experience is that Custom Shop Les Pauls just somehow sound better then Standards.) I think otherwise it would be a bit much to pay nearly twice the price just for sexy looks. I am tempted anyway.

Sans the custom ebony SJ200, for some reason any unique SJ200 is hard to come by.

They sound fine, but I don't care for the aesthetic. I don't care for the block fingerboard inlays nor the headstock. These models seem gimmicky to me. Your mileage may vary.
