Sounds good! I've had my Subie for like 7 years and i still haven't done a BOV...I guess i've heard too many bad things about them. My Cobb intake is close enough! 😆
If you want more flutter tighten the dump valve diagram spring so it opens later so under hard boost you'll get dump under light medium boost you'll get flutter.
If you guys left it on full atmospheric setup definitely get it tuned...if not leave it on recirculation...it's not as loud but safer with no tune.....good video! 👍
I know you guys don't post anymore, but ya'll were who got me into Subies and I've since owned 3 different versions of a Hawkeye including an Australia Domestic exclusive trim - WRX Club Spec 9. I noticed Hongo disappeared in your later videos. I hope he's ok and you're all well. (was just going through some BOV videos and of course you guys popped up)
if you vta, you are throwing away metered air, aka air that the MAF measured and is basing fueling off of. You can go slightly rich for a portion of time in between shifts. If you're running full vta you should use a SD sensor to be safe
Yooo that's dope. I've got the same one. You can adjust the preload to make it fluttter/dose. Try dialling the 5mm hex in a couple turns and hear the difference. Keep up the good work!
don’t let it back fire, it’s not good, i blew my 2018 sti wastegate, which fucked up my turbo. i have the same bov you have to adjust how much it’s open so it doesn’t back fire. just a heads up bro!
The red ring on the BOV is the gasket. You should take the old gasket off to ensure you don't get any leaks. I have the same Hybrid BOV by GFB on my 2015 STI and the original gasket was giving me issues.
From Phatbotti Tuning: A blow off valve should never be used on a Mass Air Flow fueled vehicle. A blow off valve simply decreases the performance of the vehicle. The purpose of a bypass valve is to bypass the pressurized air when the throttle closes back to in front of the turbo to help keep the compressor wheel spinning during shifts. A blow off valve is taking this feature away. So the turbo will spin down way more when shifting. The other major downside to a blow off valve on a MAF based car is that it's releasing air that was measured by the MAF sensor...so when that air is released, it makes the car run rich because the ECU is still injecting fuel for air that's no longer there. This will prematurely foul the plugs and make your gas mileage go down because you're just wasting fuel every time you let off the throttle. When the air is released you will notice your AF Correction and/or AF Learning go to very high negative values to try and compensate for the car running extremely rich. If the rich condition happens at or near idle it can cause the car to sputter and or stall. This can NOT be tuned out most of the time. The solution is to pre-load the BOV more by tighten the bolt on top or adding washers to it. If it is not adjustable, then remove it and light it on fire and put the stock BPV back on the car.
eh I think a bov Is very important for It helps the turbo that's building up so much air pressure when the throl plate is closed, if using a bpv on a turbo car your just asking for it, it will wear your turbo. But yes I agree you need a tune to help the ecu know what the bov would be doing when running a car that's bpv from factory.
if recirc no tune needed but 50/50 or full vent you'll need a tune unless you want to grenade the motor. should've gone with the turbosmart cause gfb is known for leaking
Best thing to do when in doubt is hit up your tuner. They’ll know what’s best for your car. As far as I know the only proper way to run a bov is with a speed density tune. Also that gfb bov is known to leak so just be aware. For the price one would think quality would be good but is not.
great video guys, very respectful and clean, i like that ! If you don't mind, how did you make the evo turbo fluter this way ? thank you in advance and cheers from Morocco :)!
The BOV does absolutely nothing other then a slight power decrease and its runs rich for 1 second in between shifting without a tune. It can’t cause serious problems
Every gfb bov I’ve ever seen fails a smoke test the will cause issues with holding boost just at a heads up if you want one I would recommend using a turbo smart over others although non of them are good for the car unless your tuned in speed density
A quick google or forum search would have saved you money by explaining why blow off valves and Subarus don’t mix. By an aftermarket recirculating valve and save your self the headache of having constant tuning issues.
From what i understand and take it with a grain of salt but the incoming air is read at the maf, way before the bov. so...the bov releasing air that the maf thinks is there will result in more fuel with less air ruining rich. for the reason its advised to run recirc and not to atmosphere. Get a tune. -2012 wrx owner
Tune for it, since you’re not going to recirculate. You’re going to run too rich, since your MAF is not going to calculate the air you’re going to vent
You guys are like the Latino version of illiminate but less gay lol but still awesome crew!!
I seriously stopped watching Illiminate because of that. But they toned it down nowadays, and it’s actually watchable now.
@@robochoa7387 do any of them have girlfriends?

Retune for it.......... or adjust to recirculate
that's what she said
No bueno on these cars
Can’t tune for a bov
@@Xx_ChaKaLaTe_xX yes you can
If you want to be able to hear that BOV scream make sure to install the 5702 GFB whistle trumpet! I love mine! 👌🏼 keep up the good work!
Perfect timing, i just got the internet on in my new house and you upload this video 😍

@Drew Media I believe if you run the cobb BPV there's no tuning needed but not sure about others

Austin B one of the few smart comments here 😂
A B that’s why you have an adjustment screw to limit the spring tension so it only opens for a second

Finn H do you have a link for it?
Can i run it how it comes out the box? Or do i have to mess with the preload?
Never mod a subbie unless you tuning it, that's the motto

Luis is a beautiful man. Diego is like the more serious one of the group. I remember that Audi.
Yes bov compared to bpv needs to be tuned. You are now letting air out into the atmosphere and not into the intake as intended.
great video guys, very respectful and clean, i like that ! If you don't mind, how did you make the evo turbo fluter this way ? thank you in advance and cheers from Morocco :)!
No joke Diego seems chill af!
Can't wait to get some mods done but first I need to get working camera gear. The car sounds so damn good can't get over that.
I love how guys live. One love all the way from Jamaica
Bov can cause issues if not used correct, set to recirculate till everything is adjusted or tuned right.
ok

I have the same BOV if you put it to full vent to atmosphere you might shoot some fat flames after letting off at 4K rpms

You are supposed to take off the Stock Gasket or else you will have a leak. That O-Ring is the seal for it. You just torque it properly.
Stu stu stu sounds baddddasssss
Hongos shifts are money
if its going to be 50/50 yes u need a tune if its going to be close then no because it will be like a bypass valve
Ran a full vent to atmosphere turbosmart bov on my wrx for 15 years/100k miles, not a single problem
Was it tuned ?
@@mr.h3603 just an off the shelf stage 2 COBB tune

New to the channel, all the cars look sick!

Gfb. Fuck yeah, Straya
Bad ass! Hope to see you guys at Subie fest
Definitely need a tune if you’re not running it fully recirculated.
That was clean but I love the sound of hks
Diego should get a huge sti hood scoop
Don’t ask websites ask your tuner, and did you really hit boost without a proper tune with that new bov 💣 💥
When is hongo going to run a set of equal length headers and a front mount intercooler ??
Like the vids bro! Watching from ny!
The trumpet screws off which makes the bolts slide in
Hongos car is so clean!!!
Hi guys. Can you tell me full name, model BOV? GFB go fast bits... Ty
You need to get a speed density tune if you run full atmospheric instead of full recirculation, you run rich in between your shifts
Rich*
@@Gusmanbro thanks i dont know why i wrote lean😂
You definitely need a tune for it.
Unless you have it set for 100% recirc
You need a tune, only thing you wouldn’t need a tune for is a catback exhaust by anything else tune it
What brand is the bov??? I need this for my Hawkeye fs
Did you guys ever find out what was wrong with the red Sti ? My car has a similar problem doesn’t really hit boost in first gear...
Can i install on a non turbo car
Hey nice rims if you don’t mind me asking what the size and offset? Also did you need spacer?
Guys just build your engines
can you guys do some sound clips of every subi and see who sounds the best
@thirdshift can
You tell me the brand and details of the rear window vents on Ongo’s car please
Damn crisp fade Onggo!
u need a retune, and it needs to be a speed/density tune
So did your buddy have to tune his car???
How about get FMIC and block the BOV
I got a 06 WRX
That turbo flutter is terrible for it on the evo.
Tune for it, since you’re not going to recirculate. You’re going to run too rich, since your MAF is not going to calculate the air you’re going to vent
Can you recommend where I can buy tomei for my 2013 wrx ?
I tried subispeed they dont have checked site :( n no respond too
No ebay
I can’t wait to get my subie 😭
I have a SSQW4 HKS blow off valve. I have a video of a before and after of the sound. I think it’s better imo
Just wondering what is it called for your rear window thing?
Should just kept the stock bpv
A bov is only really needed in higher hp cars
Not true 😂
Disagree
It saves the longevity of your turbo. Back pressure hurts
do u need to get a tune after this mod or no ?
Jesus needs to get a hood with the scoop
Hey bro what wheel specs are these??
What are the pros and cons of a blow off valve?
No get a bypass valve
this is the correct answer
It keeps the turbo up .
Luckily mine came with one
They’re gonna need a tune for the bpv the car is gonna run lean or rich
That one is adjustable to run recirculating or vent to atmosphere...
That evo thoe
it’s litty
What BOV is on the Evo? Much better 😁
I have that same vans shirt
What bov is in the evo ???
What size the wheels
What exhaust is he running on the Hawkeye STi?
Youre asking for a blown engine without a tune.
Yoo Hongo’s been loosing weight
Misubishi gang evo bby 💪💪💪
I love it 😂
Need to go speed density, gonna be running hella rich. Also should've gone with turbosmart, much better quality
