Valamikor réges-régen, egy nagykállói fesztiválra készítettem egy Bodrogközi koreográfiát. A nézőtéren keresztül vonultunk fel, majd ketten citeráztunk, amire a többiek elkezdtek táncolni aztán beérkezett a zenekar és mi citerások is beálltunk táncolni. Diószegi erősen lehúzott minket, mondván ez egy életkép, ami egy elavult koreográfiai szerkesztés. Pár év múlva ő egy pályaudvari jelenetet tett színpadra. De az már (szerinte) "happening performans" volt. Szerintem életkép. De addigra én már kiléptem az amatőr néptáncmozgalomból. Miután utolsó megmozdulásként átadtam Diónak egy "folk police" feliratú sárga láthatósági mellényt. (Jutott eszembe erről az életképről.)

The Hungarians are a country maker people. And there are many different professions within a country. There were peasants, citizens and aristocrats. Approximately until the 1950s, the broadest stratum was the peasantry. But each stratum had its own traditional culture in history. The citizenry left its national characteristics the earliest. (Approximately after the Austro-Hungarian compromise.) For the longest time, the peasantry and the nobility preserved its traditions. (Perhaps the Hungarian festive noble clothing was the most typical tradition among the nobility.) After the WWII., as a result of the Soviet occupation and the accompanying communist takeover, the aristocrats who remained in the country were persecuted, interned and dispossessed. The Hungarian nobility ceased to exist. In the 50s, when folklore began to be documented more seriously, the traditions of the aristocracy were already considered worthless, and no one remembered the traditions of the citizens. Thus, from the Hungarian national culture, only the peasant culture remained for posterity. The importance of peasant culture was strengthened by the fact that during the socialist period it was the most compatible with the socialist ideology, so it was the only traditional thing that could be shown to West German tourists paying with hard currency in Hortobágy.
