Very insightful discussions with facts and figures on how to establish the rule of law, a national policy for each sector, and a good government to help SMEs by making a level field for competing for all businesses and new foreign markets for new exports.

Very clear and convincing. Chathuranga, although I have not met you, I have listened to you already in Sinhala. You talk eminent sense. Since most of the voters whom you are appealing to are speakers of Sinhala, it is good that you speak in Sinhala most of the time. However, your English is excellent, and it is good that you have provided this explanation in English.
In fact, you ought to make more of these English programmes; those using mostly English are also voters, and there are some Swabasha speakers who regard users of English as important. There is a false impression among non-English speakers that users of English are "more educated". Also, when you use English, you are reaching many Tamils.
I have compared what you say here with what you have already said in Sinhala. The content is the same. There are some politicians who say different things in different languages. You are not like that.

It's said, 'when one is outside the problem, it's very easy to criticise'. I have absolutely no interest in the politics of SL. But there's much to say about what was answered in the discussion.
    I'll pick a few:
    1. People mandate in SL has been a farce. If people voted for good policies, JVP would have had a considerable number of seats in the parliament by now. Why do rural masses show interest in NPP today? Bcs most of the population reaped the results of their decades of foolish and selfish elects, and now their free lunches are being challenged. They are now looking for a punisher as they always did with other issues related to minorities.
    2. World likes neo-liberal policies, it's human nature. Do you think the world will buy goods from Leftist ideologies based countries? Rethink your export strategy.
    3. Do you think so-called 'wealthy' expats amassed their wealth based on Leftist based economies? Do you really believe they will come to SL to invest in a non-liberal economy?
    4. Do you really believe the majority of our SME sector pays direct taxes?
    5. It's good to hear NPP wants 5-8 years to right-size the state sector. Of course, it's a political statement as all politicians want power in the name of gullible misses.
I have absolutely nothing against NPP, but one thing I always remember - JVP is directly responsible for bringing the looters to the power simply to avoid RW coming to power in 2005. The saying goes 'set a thief to catch a thief', and so did JVP to stop the country from becoming prosperous by implanting the incapable. Yes, now you have reached that goal... but I doubt very much that any single political party will get a majority.

I appreciated the amount of thinking that had gone into this comment. However, you have as little insight into what life is for poorer Lankans. A pity, because I regard you as a person with decent impulses.

@Panini_Edirisinhe Poverty and its perils warrant a separate discourse. Even in the developed world, too have people with poverty. But look at SL, a beautiful tropical country with fertile soils, access to free education, health, subsidised goodies, and mind you with pension to state employees, with most policy makers even enjoying duty-free vehicle permits. Yet, we grumble day and night of the poverty.
Of course, once one is in poverty, its pain can be appalling. And, then they cry for a change of government, but with little or no commitment to work hard and lift oneself up. Here comes the opportunistic political forces, some with more promises and others with appealing storytelling. So, who really has the answer? It's us.

Jaishankers recent overtures are like ‘kapanna bary atha imbinawa
wagei’. No need to listen to these two penny guys who go an recurve awards from our adversaries knowing very well that they are on an expansionistic offensive. Pasku praharaya, poisonous medicine are pointers to that. These traitors are hell bent on selling their motherland. Get lost fellows!.
