Thank you for such useful videos on claiming taxes, you're the first I've seen doing videos like this (which now i realise there should be more sources like this cause so many students are facing this and its so confusing). I also didn't know medicare entitlement statement for the medicare levy exempt - just applied thanks to you. So does this exempt help to reduce the taxes we need to pay? can you also advice what do international students put for private health care insurance? - are we involved in this, and if so, what do we need to put under claims? thank you!

Hi! Absolutely love your content, if it wasn't because of your videos I would not know that I need to claim a medicare entitlement statement for the medicare levy exempt even as an international student
I have a question for a friend, she has a fixed-term deposit and she is earning interest, in that case does she need to state her interest or does she also need to state the amount of money she has in the deposit for tax return? And in which part does she need to fill out under income tax?

    • @overseasstudentsaustralia

Thanks a lot and great to hear that friend. In regards to your question, i found a very useful article that explains it well. In summary, it says it depends on when you are getting the interest, if you are getting interest on maturity, then you need to report it in the year you get it. If you are getting it monthly, then you need to report the interest you recieved already. You can also ask bank for a statement for the last financial year as well and you can find how much interest they paid so far. Check the article here: www.finder.com.au/paying-tax-on-term-deposit-interest#:~:text=You%20need%20to%20pay%20tax,earn%20on%20a%20term%20deposit.&text=If%20you've%20invested%20money,the%20interest%20income%20you%20earn.

If I am on a Student visa SC 500. (Secondary applicant) and I work full time. I can only study 3 months and visa expires after 2 years. So in this case should I be considered an Australian resident for tax purposes or a foreign resident for tax purposes?.

    Hi,
Can I travel to Australia after my course started?
I recently paid my fees and my classes will start on this Monday(july 10), but I haven’t got my COE yet. Will it affect my visa and going to Australia in this intake itself?
    Can anyone answer this please.

      thats not how it works
if you didnt start the course yet then you are still restricted to 24 hours per week.
the ability to work unlimited hours during university or college holidays is only for those international students who already started the course only not for student who havent started the course yet
