She said that she was inspired by Audrey Hepburn in the film My Fair Lady. Audrey Hepburn was European and My Fair Lady was set in England. So her inspiration had nothing to do with the prompt. Beautiful dress, though.

@@KAROLWEWE i'm not saying she's american nor am i saying any of those are inherently american. audrey hepburn was EXTREMELY famous and important in american culture in her time (and STILL IS) therefore it makes sense that they would make a dress inspired by her. she has influenced a lot of american fashion (which is by definition: in theme)

in my unprofessional opinion, you can’t really be “too much” for the Met gala. Like that’s exactly the time to be too much. And I prefer the people being really on the nose with the theme to those who ignored it completely.
