  • Many of you have asked how I like the Daler-Rowney Art Sphere Desktop Easel, and because it is so small, I wound up switching to this, the Martin Pro Draft Deluxe Parallel Straightedge Drawing Board.
This drawing board is EVERYTHING to me in the studio now, after a year and a half using it. While I wish it was a little less clunky, it is a solid workhorse that really makes drawing easier and less painful for me. If you're looking to solve your back pain or neck pain in the studio, do not hesitate to add this to your tools. It is worth every penny. AND I AM NOT SPONSORED BY THIS COMPANY- I just use it daily and love it. Holler if you have any questions about it, I'm happy to share my experience with it.
Here is the link to buy it from Martin on Amazon:

There are also smaller sizes available.

Thank you for reviewing this- you gave a great view of it and all the info I needed. It looks so much more stable than most desk top drafting tables!

An humble suggestion from a neophyte.
When sliding your sheet of paper underneath, leave your triangle in such a way that it will align with one the sheet's side border.
This way you make sure that the paper is also in a perfect alignment (top/bottom parallel, sides at 90° when compared to the ruler).
That is, unless you purposely want some inclination.

Thank you for your recommendation on this drawing board. It looks fantastic but it’s just a little out of my budget right now. I will look into it for the future. I returned the two easels that I didn’t need and I got a drawing board very similar to the one you have. I got it at Hobby lobby for 32 bucks. That was more in my budget right now. it’s definitely big enough for the art that I do and it’ll work for my needs right now. It’s not made out of the same material that yours is; it’s made out of Beechwood (hence the low price), but it’s still functions the same as yours. it doesn’t have the adjustable horizontal bar, but it does have the ledge at the bottom.

When I was able to hit the gym, I did pull downs. Something like four or five sets of 15 reps. Behind the neck, or mix it up front and back. Nothing saves your joints and ligaments like strong tuned muscles. Automatic posture developer. I suppose I could still set up some elastic straps in a door frame...but all these coupons to the Cheesecake Factory keep me so busy...

That’s what I do- plastic straps on a door frame. Works wonders. Going to do a video on that soon!
